The EKO K420FAT is a discontinued 42-inch Full HD LCD television sold in Australia. Its specifications are publicly documented by CHOICE, but the consumer group’s expert rating and test results are member-only, so no picture, sound or reliability verdict can be drawn from public material. What owners can verify is the model’s listed specifications, the replacement remote and parts that specialist sellers have listed, and the limits of each.
What the K420FAT is
CHOICE’s model page, titled “EKO K420FAT review,” classifies the set as an LCD television and marks it discontinued. The table below reproduces the values the page lists. Where the page leaves a field blank, the table says so rather than assuming the feature is missing. Figures are as shown on the CHOICE listing when accessed in 2026, and they describe the product as CHOICE recorded it, not a measured result.

What can and cannot be said about picture and sound
The CHOICE Expert Rating, the pros and cons, and the detailed test findings are member-only in the publicly accessible page. This article therefore does not describe the K420FAT’s picture quality, sound, reliability, satisfaction results or overall value. Panel performance details such as refresh rate, brightness and HDR handling are also not established by any accessible source. The CHOICE page is credited to Denis Gallagher, a senior project officer who works on home-entertainment testing, but no attributable quotation from him about this model is publicly visible.

Searches for an official EKO manual or product specification sheet for this television did not turn up an accessible document. Results for the EKO name mostly point to unrelated musical instruments, which say nothing about this set.
Smart features and resolution
The listing gives the K420FAT Android 11 with Amazon and Stan apps. It does not confirm that every smart-TV function works as it would on a current model, and it does not list which other streaming services are supported. Because the listed resolution is 1920 × 1080, the set is a Full HD panel. The listing does not state 4K or UHD support, so the set should not be assumed to offer 4K playback. Check the set’s on-screen menus or the rear label on your unit to confirm what it supports.

Price, warranty and availability
CHOICE’s page shows a price of $269.00. That figure is what the listing recorded, not a current price, and it should not be used for budgeting. The page also lists a one-year warranty. Because the model is marked discontinued, new stock may be scarce, and used units are the more likely route to ownership. The warranty on the listing is not confirmed to carry over to second-hand units; ask any seller directly.

Before buying, work through this checklist:
- Photograph your original remote and compare its layout with the seller’s image.
- Read the seller’s button-function map and list every function you use, such as source selection, volume, menu navigation and app shortcuts.
- Confirm that none of those functions depends on the features the seller says the replacement cannot cover: Bluetooth or radio-frequency functions, voice control, pointer movement, and any function that has no dedicated button.
- If the original remote uses a feature the replacement does not cover, test whether the TV works without it before committing, or ask the seller whether a return is accepted.

Deciding whether a repair is worth it
No public source gives repair costs or a reliability record for this model, so the decision depends on your own quote. Before paying for parts or labour, get the following:
- A written diagnosis of the fault, not just a general symptom.
- A repairer’s quote covering labour and the part, including whether the board or panel needs replacing.
- Confirmation of the board revision against the label on your unit.
- A comparison between the repair cost and the price of a comparable current television, using the same criteria in the table above: screen size, resolution, operating system, connectivity, warranty and condition.

An eBay Australia listing titled “42 INCH FULL HD ANDROID TV” for a used K420FAT shows a sold status dated 17 May 2026. That record shows past resale only. It does not establish current supply or a reliable market price.

- The model label on the back, to confirm it is the K420FAT rather than a similarly named set.
- That the screen, both rear USB inputs and all three HDMI inputs respond to a test device.
- Whether a working remote is included, and whether it is the original.
- Written confirmation from the seller of the warranty position on the unit.
What remains unresolved
Several questions have no answer in any accessible source: panel performance, refresh rate, brightness, HDR, full smart-app support, long-term reliability, and whether any particular used unit is worth repairing. Treat any claim about these as unverified until a published test or a repairer’s inspection of your own set confirms it.
