The most useful “cheats” are a disciplined search routine, the correct inventory actions for your platform, and version-aware help for the guard’s sliding tiles and the drummer’s rhythm challenge.
This guide covers the documented PC, PlayStation and Mac releases, identifies where the available instructions differ, and gives a chapter-by-chapter route so you can recover when a required item or conversation seems to be missing.

Identify your version before following a puzzle solution
Controls and even puzzle behavior are not guaranteed to match across releases. The detailed FAQ used for the PlayStation edition explicitly warns that some puzzles can differ by version, so treat a control sequence written for one platform as a clue rather than a universal answer.

If you are using a later re-release or an emulated copy, record the title screen, platform and edition before troubleshooting. A guide that says “press a key” may be describing the original PC build, not your controller mapping.

Read the cursor and inventory before searching for secrets
The interface tells you what an area allows. Move the pointer slowly across the scene and wait for the cursor to change before clicking. The walkthroughs describe separate cues for moving to another location, taking or otherwise interacting with an object, speaking with a character, and opening the map. A background that looks decorative may still contain a usable hotspot.
Use the PC inventory deliberately
- Right-click to open the inventory bar.
- Hover over an item to display its short description. This is useful for distinguishing similar-looking ingredients.
- Click an inventory item to select it, then use it on the scene or character that accepts it.
- Use the magnifying-eye icon when you need a full-screen view of an item or a closer inspection.
The review also reports that objects collected in the world may need to be placed in the inventory manually. If a newly collected object seems to have vanished, reopen the bar and check that it was actually stored rather than merely examined.
Search dark and crowded scenes in a fixed pattern
- Sweep shelves, baskets, pots, counters and other containers from one side of the screen to the other.
- Pause over narrow edges and shadowed corners. Some hotspots are very small.
- In dark areas, watch for the fist cursor; the review says it can be the only visible clue that an item or interaction is available.
- After every conversation, rescan nearby surfaces. Access can depend on speaking to a character or finding an item first.
- Use the map when available, but revisit earlier rooms if a new conversation or object has opened a route.
The progression is described as largely linear. That means a locked-looking path often indicates a missing conversation or prerequisite item rather than a hidden cheat code.
Opening sequence: get the first two items
At the beginning, Tifet receives a message from Djehouty. In the counter area, take the Book of Remedies and the eye ointment. These are the opening items identified by the Big Fish walkthrough. If the cursor does not change, move in smaller increments across the counter and confirm that each object has entered the inventory.
Do not rush away after taking them. Check the inventory descriptions, then inspect the room for any additional cursor changes before using the map. Establishing this habit prevents the most common early mistake: assuming that a visible object was collected when it was only looked at.
The nine-part route through Heliopolis
The available walkthrough is organized into nine broad chapters. The chapter names are useful as a recovery checklist: when you are stuck, identify the last objective you completed and work only on the next unresolved heading.

1. Answer the call for help
Receive Djehouty’s message and collect the Book of Remedies and eye ointment from the counter. Read the item descriptions and learn the movement, interaction, speech and map cursor cues before leaving the opening area.
2. Research
Investigate the information needed for the later remedy and prophecy steps. Talk to every available character, examine readable objects and keep newly acquired items in the inventory. If a research conversation does not trigger, leave and return after checking that all nearby hotspots have been searched.
3. The prophecy
Progress through the prophecy-related conversations and evidence. The linear structure means that a missing response usually points to an uncompleted discussion or an item that has not yet been examined, not to a random click sequence.
4. Grain
Work through the grain objective by following the newly opened conversations and locations. Recheck containers and counters after each major exchange; the guides warn that small hotspots can hide in otherwise familiar scenes.
5. The cure
As the cure objective develops, compare inventory descriptions before combining or presenting objects. If an item cannot be used, verify that you selected it from the inventory rather than merely viewing it.

6. Trade
Complete the required trade interactions and use the map to move between the relevant areas. Characters may become useful only after another person has been questioned, so revisit them when the story advances.

7. Escape
The escape chapter changes the priority from investigation to movement. Search every newly accessible area, especially dark corners and containers, and keep the cursor moving slowly so you do not miss a small interaction.
8. Prepare the remedy
Use the collected evidence and ingredients in the order indicated by their descriptions and the conversations. When a combination fails, inspect both objects again and confirm that the intended target hotspot is active.
9. Evidence
The final chapter resolves the evidence objective. Before leaving a scene permanently, make sure every required conversation has been completed and that no item remains outside the inventory bar.

The PlayStation FAQ lists three optional warehouse items: blue juniper berries, caraway and bean flour. The guide labels them optional, and its advice is explicitly for the PlayStation version. Do not assume that every PC or Mac release requires these objects or places them in exactly the same hotspots.
To check the warehouse efficiently, sweep shelves, bags, baskets and floor-level containers with the pointer. Pick up anything that produces the take/interact cursor, then verify that it is in the inventory. If a later step seems to require one of these ingredients on your PlayStation copy, return to the warehouse before trying to force the puzzle.
Guard’s sliding-tile puzzle: a reliable PlayStation method
The PlayStation guide’s advice is more useful than trying to memorize a complete board pattern, because it works from the feedback the game gives you.

- Start with one side of the board rather than moving tiles everywhere at once.
- Place a tile, then observe which pieces light up. The lit state indicates tiles that are correctly placed.
- Keep the confirmed side intact while working on the remaining side. Avoid undoing a placement simply to make a temporary gap.
- Listen to Tifet’s verbal hints. The FAQ treats her comments as clues to the correct arrangement.
- If the board appears unchanged, check that you are using the PlayStation instructions and that the cursor is selecting a tile rather than the surrounding frame.
This method is version-specific guidance. A different release may use different feedback or tile behavior, so do not transfer a PlayStation solution to a PC or Mac copy without checking its controls.
Find the drummer’s drum before attempting the ballroom sequence
The walkthroughs place a sleeping musician in a garden gazebo or pavilion. Go to that location, take the drum, and return to the villa or ballroom as directed by the chapter progression. If the musician or drum is not available, first complete the conversations and searches that precede the ballroom objective; the game’s linear gating can hide an interaction until the prerequisite is done.

The drum challenge asks you to reproduce a rhythm, but the surviving instructions do not describe one universal control scheme. They appear to reflect different platforms or releases.
What the PC-oriented walkthrough reports
The Big Fish walkthrough says that, after several failed attempts, lights appear to show when to play. It also reports a repeating keyboard pattern. Treat that pattern as a PC-era aid, not as a guaranteed sequence for every edition. Wait for the visual timing marks, then reproduce the rhythm rather than pressing keys early.
What the PlayStation FAQ reports
The PlayStation instructions describe controller inputs and say that visual indicators appear in real time. Watch the indicators during the attempt and mirror their timing with the controller. If you are using a keyboard, this advice is not a direct key mapping.

What the archived GameBoomers walkthrough reports
The archived walkthrough does not provide a fixed solve and instead recommends a patch if the puzzle cannot be solved. That recommendation belongs to the original release context and should not be treated as proof that a current download, emulator or later edition needs the same patch.

A safe procedure for any edition
- Identify whether you are playing the PC, PlayStation or Mac release.
- Attempt the rhythm while watching for lights or other timing indicators.
- Use the input method documented for your platform; do not substitute a keyboard sequence for controller instructions.
- After several failures, pause and verify that the drum was taken from the sleeping musician and that the ballroom objective is active.
- Only then investigate edition-specific patches or compatibility fixes.
Because the controls and feedback differ in the guides, publishing one rhythm as a universal cheat would be more likely to strand players than help them.
Recover when a conversation or item seems missing
Use this order before restarting the game:
- Open the inventory and confirm that every recently collected object is actually stored.
- Read each item description and try the selected object on the relevant hotspot rather than clicking it in empty space.
- Return to the last character you spoke with and exhaust the available conversation.
- Rescan the current room, including dark corners, pots, baskets, shelves and counter edges.
- Use the map to visit the preceding location; linear triggers often activate only after a return trip.
- Check your platform against the guide. A PlayStation optional item or tile instruction may not apply to a PC build.
Keep a short note of the last completed chapter and the objects you have verified. That prevents repeated searches and makes it easier to identify the one missing prerequisite.
Historical crash and patch notes
GameBoomers reported two old-release issues: a patch for the original Cryo CD version was intended to make the drum puzzle easier, and a reviewer experienced a conversation crash in the DVD version. In that instance, pressing the spacebar to skip the speech worked around the crash.

Before applying an old executable patch, confirm the exact release and preserve your saved games. If a conversation repeatedly crashes, try the documented spacebar skip only on a PC build that supports it, then look for edition-specific support rather than applying an unrelated patch.
Buying or installing a legacy copy safely
Searches for “Egypt II The Heliopolis Prophecy PC game” may surface physical legacy copies, but availability and compatibility vary. Before purchasing or installing, verify the platform, region, edition, disc condition and operating-system requirements. The original packaging’s Windows 95/98/ME wording describes its historical target, not guaranteed support on a current computer. A catalog listing for Mac confirms that a Mac release existed, but it does not guarantee modern macOS compatibility or current sale availability.
For a used copy, keep the manual and any original save-data instructions with the disc. The platform distinction matters most for the drum and sliding-tile puzzles, where the documented controls and feedback are not interchangeable.
