It may suit an existing eero household or a buyer who finds it at a sensible price and does not need Wi-Fi 6E, Wi-Fi 7, or multi-gigabit Ethernet. Its two gigabit ports and lack of a 6 GHz band are the key limits to weigh.
What the eero Pro 6 is
The eero Pro 6 (model K010001) is a tri-band mesh router built around Wi-Fi 6. Its radios use 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz low, and 5 GHz high; it does not have the 6 GHz band associated with Wi-Fi 6E. The official specifications list a quad-core 1.6 GHz processor, 1 GB of RAM, 4 GB of flash storage, WPA2/WPA3 support, Zigbee and Thread radios, and Bluetooth LE 5.0. The unit measures 139 × 139 × 52.6 mm. eero’s safety and compliance specifications identify these details.

Wi-Fi 6 clients can use the standard’s capabilities; older Wi-Fi devices can still connect using the standards they support. As with any router, the client device, internet plan, home layout, and network configuration affect the result. eero’s Wi-Fi 6 guidance also cautions that mixing Wi-Fi 5 eero units into a mesh prevents Wi-Fi 6 backhaul use with those older models, which can mean slower speeds and higher latency while roaming.

How the Pro 6 performs as a mesh system
RTINGS’ review, updated June 22, 2026, describes very good coverage and speeds in its test setup. It also found a slight speed penalty at a satellite in dual-mesh testing, while an additional access point improved consistency over very long distances. eero advertises up to 2,000 sq. ft. of coverage per Pro 6 device and support for 75+ connected devices on its eero comparison and compatibility page. Those are manufacturer claims, not independent measurements or a promise for a particular address. Walls, floors, interference, node placement, client radios, and wired versus wireless backhaul all influence actual coverage and throughput. Do not treat the per-device figure as interchangeable with a multi-node coverage claim for a different configuration.
Ports, wired devices, and smart-home features
Two gigabit Ethernet ports
The Pro 6 has two auto-sensing gigabit Ethernet ports, each usable as WAN or LAN. That is enough for a basic gateway connection and one additional wired device in a common setup, but the router has no multi-gigabit port. If you need to connect several wired devices, an external gigabit Ethernet switch can expand the number of connections; it will not raise the Pro 6’s port speed above gigabit. RTINGS identifies the limited two-port interface as a drawback.

Zigbee, Thread, and Alexa
The built-in Zigbee and Thread radios, plus Bluetooth LE 5.0, give the Pro 6 smart-home connectivity beyond Wi-Fi. eero’s shop describes Alexa-linked Zigbee control; that function requires linking an Amazon account. These radios do not mean every smart-home device is compatible, so check the device’s own standard and setup requirements before relying on the router as its hub. Setup, eero compatibility, and subscription requirements
Initial setup requires internet service and a supported iOS or Android device. A Pro 6 can serve as the gateway or as a wireless extender in a compatible eero network, including networks with supported older eero models. Mixing generations can change mesh performance: in particular, eero says Wi-Fi 5 eeros prevent Wi-Fi 6 backhaul use when meshed with them.

Basic Wi-Fi operation does not require eero Plus. eero sells Plus as an optional add-on, while RTINGS notes that some advanced features require a subscription. Because feature bundles and subscription terms can change, check the current eero app and account offer to see which specific features are included before buying or renewing.
Is the eero Pro 6 still worth buying in 2026?
Its purchase case depends heavily on price and on what you already own. If you have compatible eero units and want to extend that mesh, the Pro 6’s compatibility and Wi-Fi 6 capability may be useful. If you are building a new network, compare it with current eero models and other mesh systems at the actual prices and availability you can get. Newer options can offer a newer Wi-Fi generation or faster wired ports, though the right choice still depends on your client devices and home.

For context, RTINGS says eero Pro 6E replaces one of the Pro 6’s 5 GHz bands with 6 GHz and includes a 2.5 Gbps port. Its comparison describes eero 7 as a Wi-Fi 7 model with 2.5 Gbps ports. RTINGS also found the Pro 6 had better range than eero 7 in its comparison, while eero 7 reached faster top speeds; those results are reviewer comparisons, not predictions for every layout. Compare the band your devices can use, wired port speed and count, node placement and backhaul, subscription features, and the price and warranty for the exact package before choosing. Availability, warranty, and security-update horizon
On October 4, 2026, eero’s U.S. shop marked the 1-, 2-, and 3-packs out of stock, and RTINGS identified the model as discontinued. These signals do not establish that no retailer has new, used, or refurbished units; verify seller, condition, return terms, and current price rather than assuming availability. eero lists a one-year limited warranty, with its warranty coverage applying to devices purchased from eero.com and official retail partners. eero lists security updates for the Pro 6 at least through July 14, 2030. The policy says the five-year guarantee applies when a device is bought new from eero.com or Amazon.com; the listed date applies to purchases elsewhere. After that guaranteed period, eero says it will strive to continue updates, subject to technical and other limits. The date is an update-support commitment, not a hardware-lifespan guarantee. eero states: “When software security updates end, your eero device will still work and can still provide wifi.” See eero’s software security update policy.
