How to read Edmunds’ ranking
Edmunds says its SUV rankings use a 10-point rating based on seven evaluation categories. Its stated process includes driving vehicles hundreds of miles in real-world conditions and conducting instrumented tests at a dedicated test track. The ranking page names performance, comfort, technology, utility and value among the factors it considers. These are Edmunds’ descriptions of its evaluation process, not independent validation of each vehicle’s position.

Does the list tell you which has the most cargo room?
No. Edmunds’ general ranking page describes the Passport as having a substantial cargo area, but the information captured for this list does not provide comparable cargo-volume figures for all five models. The ordinal ranking alone cannot establish which one has the most cargo room. For a useful comparison, check published cargo measurements for the specific model years and configurations you are considering, and assess whether the space works with your usual passengers and gear.

Edmunds’ April 16, 2026 comparison test evaluated nine midsize three-row SUVs for daily driving, passenger and cargo space, multimedia technology, comfort and on-road dynamics. It included practical family-use scenarios such as loading luggage and a stroller, accommodating pets and assessing third-row seating. Edmunds named the Hyundai Palisade the winner of that comparison. Those results apply to the separate three-row test, not to the five-model general midsize ranking above.
