Is the Edifier QD35 worth it? It can be, if you want one tabletop speaker to handle music, desktop audio, ambient lighting and USB charging. Edifier combines a 40 W RMS two-way speaker with Bluetooth 5.3, AUX and USB-A audio, plus USB-C and USB-A charging. The trade-off is price: Edifier’s US page listed it at $229.99 and in stock on October 13, 2026, so the value depends on whether the integrated charger and app-controlled features replace equipment you would otherwise buy.
This is a specification-based assessment rather than an independent listening test. The published figures establish the drivers, connections, charging limits and software features, but they do not prove tonal quality, distortion performance, app reliability or coverage of a particular room.

| Size and weight | 277.8 × 164.8 × 141.7 mm; 2.64 kg net weight | Compact enough for a substantial desk shelf, but not a small portable speaker |
| US listed price | $229.99 on October 13, 2026; stock was shown as available then | A dated snapshot; check the current regional price before buying |
These are manufacturer-published specifications, not measurements from an independent laboratory. Edifier also says the QD35 can fill a 50 m² room. Treat that as a marketing claim and a test prompt, not a guarantee of even, clean coverage.
What the QD35 is designed to do
The QD35 is an AC-powered tabletop speaker rather than a battery portable. Its main proposition is combination: a two-way speaker, decorative lighting, app controls and a built-in GaN charging system in one desktop unit. The 277.8 mm width gives it a horizontal, monitor-shelf profile, while the 2.64 kg weight suggests it is meant to stay in one place.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
That format suits a home office, bedroom table, kitchen counter or compact entertainment setup. It is less suitable if you need a speaker you can carry outdoors, run without mains power or place in a very small space. The published dimensions should be compared with your shelf depth before ordering; the 141.7 mm depth is substantial next to a laptop or monitor stand.
How does the Edifier QD35 sound?
No independent listening measurements were established for this model, so a definitive judgment about balance, bass impact or maximum clean volume would be misleading. The hardware does reveal how Edifier is targeting the product.
Two-way driver arrangement
A 3-inch mid-bass driver handles low and middle frequencies, while a separate 1-inch tweeter handles treble. In principle, that division can provide clearer high frequencies than a single full-range driver of similar size. It does not, by itself, establish a particular tonal signature: enclosure tuning, crossover design, DSP and listening position matter just as much.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →What 40 W RMS tells you
Edifier rates the system at 40 W RMS, divided into 25 W for the mid-bass section and 15 W for treble. RMS is more useful than a short peak-power number for describing sustained amplifier output, but it still does not specify distortion, sensitivity or how loud the speaker remains before compression. Use the figure as an indication that the QD35 is more substantial than a low-power USB speaker, not as proof that it will play cleanly at any distance.
Frequency-response claim
The stated 60 Hz–40 kHz range reaches below most vocal fundamentals and extends far beyond the upper limit of typical human hearing. Edifier does not publish the tolerance used for that range in the cited specification, so it cannot tell you how much output the speaker produces at 60 Hz or 40 kHz. A compact cabinet with a 3-inch driver should not be assumed to reproduce sub-bass with the authority of a dedicated subwoofer.

Near-field expectations
At a desk, you will normally listen from less than two metres away. That near-field position reduces the amount of acoustic power needed and may make stereo placement and detail easier to appreciate. For a room, hallway or party, reflections, furniture and listening distance become more important. The manufacturer’s 50 m² statement has not been independently verified for loudness uniformity or distortion.
Connections and wireless audio
Bluetooth 5.3
Bluetooth 5.3 is the current wireless interface listed for the QD35. Bluetooth version numbers do not guarantee a specific range or sound quality; the phone, computer and local radio environment also matter. Pairing behavior, latency and reconnection reliability were not independently tested here.
LDAC is conditional
Edifier says LDAC can stream at up to a 96 kHz sampling rate and its US page specifies that high-resolution streaming requires an LDAC-compatible source. This does not mean every phone or computer will use LDAC, nor that a 96 kHz file will always be delivered at that rate. The source device must support the codec, and its operating system may expose settings that trade connection stability against bitrate.
If your source lacks LDAC, the QD35 remains usable over standard Bluetooth. You should simply avoid paying for the speaker on the assumption that every device will unlock its highest wireless mode.
AUX input
The analogue AUX connection is useful for a desktop computer, monitor, CD player or any source with a 3.5 mm output. It avoids Bluetooth pairing and can reduce latency for games and video. Edifier says an AUX cable is included in the US box contents.

USB-A audio
USB-A is listed as an audio input as well as a charging connection. The exact operating-system behavior, supported sample rates and whether a computer needs a driver are not established in the available product information, so confirm compatibility with your computer before treating it as a full USB DAC replacement.

Can the QD35 charge my phone?
Yes. Edifier advertises USB-C charging up to 35 W and also provides USB-A charging. Actual charging power depends on what the connected phone, tablet or other device can negotiate. A phone that accepts only 18 W will not draw 35 W simply because the speaker can advertise that maximum.
One-device and two-device use
An indexed manual excerpt lists 35 W maximum through USB-C, 18 W maximum through USB-A and 18 W maximum per port when both ports are used. Because that excerpt was not directly retrievable, verify the current output table in the manual supplied with your unit before relying on those exact simultaneous-use limits.
For ordinary phone charging, connect a suitable cable to the appropriate port and check the phone’s charging indicator. If the phone reports slow charging, the limitation may be the phone, cable, charger protocol or simultaneous use of both ports rather than a fault in the speaker.
What the charging feature can and cannot replace
The integrated charger can reduce cable clutter on a desk and spare a separate wall charger for one or two devices. It does not turn the QD35 into a power bank: the speaker still needs mains power, and the published information does not describe battery operation. It also does not establish support for every proprietary fast-charge standard.

Lighting and Edifier Connect app
Edifier says its Connect app can adjust equalizer settings, select lighting effects, synchronize the clock and share custom EQ presets. Those features make the QD35 more configurable than a speaker with only physical volume controls.
Why the app matters
- EQ: You can tailor the tonal balance for speech, music or a bright room, within the limits of the hardware.
- Lighting: Effects can make the speaker function as desk ambience as well as an audio device.
- Clock synchronization: The clock can be aligned through the app rather than set manually.
- Preset sharing: Custom EQ settings can be shared, which is useful when more than one person uses the speaker.
App usability, phone compatibility, firmware support, connection reliability and whether a selected EQ remains stored after removing the app were not independently established. If you want a speaker that works identically without a mobile app, treat these software features as optional rather than essential.
How to set up the QD35
- Choose a stable location. Leave enough clearance for the 277.8 × 164.8 × 141.7 mm cabinet, keep the front unobstructed and place it near an AC outlet.
- Connect power. Use the supplied power connection and wait for the speaker’s controls or indicators to become active.
- Install the Connect app only if needed. Use it for EQ, lighting, clock synchronization or preset management; basic playback can use the listed physical inputs.
- Pair Bluetooth. Open your phone or computer’s Bluetooth settings, select the QD35 and confirm the connection. If LDAC is available, enable it on the source device and choose the stability or quality mode offered by that device.
- Use a wired source when appropriate. Connect the supplied 3.5 mm AUX cable for analogue playback, or test USB-A audio with your computer if that is the intended connection.
- Set listening level before evaluating sound. Start low, then raise the volume gradually. Avoid judging bass or clarity only at a level that causes the source device or speaker to compress.
- Add charging devices. Connect a phone to USB-C or USB-A, check its charging status and add a second device only after confirming how the ports share power.
Desk placement and everyday use
For near-field listening, place the QD35 in front of you with the tweeter roughly aimed toward ear level. Keep the left and right sides unobstructed if the enclosure provides a stereo presentation. A shelf corner can reinforce bass through nearby boundaries, while placing the speaker in an open position may sound less boomy. These are general placement principles, not measurements of this model.
Because the QD35 is mains-powered and weighs 2.64 kg, plan the location as a semi-permanent installation. Its lighting may be welcome in a gaming or media setup, but it can also be distracting in a bedroom; use the app or speaker controls to select a restrained effect if available.

Is the QD35 worth $229.99?
Edifier’s US price was $229.99 when the page was accessed on October 13, 2026. That is a dated listing, not a guaranteed current price, and prices vary by country, tax and promotion.
The purchase makes the most sense when you value several functions together:
- A powered tabletop speaker with more output than a small laptop or USB speaker
- USB-C and USB-A charging at the same desk location
- Bluetooth plus AUX connectivity
- App-controlled EQ, lighting and clock synchronization
- A horizontal cabinet that can sit on a desk or shelf
Value is weaker if you already own a good speaker and a capable multi-port charger, or if you need battery portability, weather resistance, a subwoofer, measured studio accuracy or guaranteed app-free operation. The QD35’s headline specifications do not establish any of those characteristics.
Strengths and limitations
Strengths supported by the published information
- Combines a 40 W RMS two-way speaker with device charging in one enclosure.
- Offers Bluetooth 5.3, AUX and USB-A audio options.
- Provides advertised USB-C charging up to 35 W and additional USB-A charging.
- Includes documented EQ, lighting, clock and preset features through the Connect app.
- Includes an AUX cable and USB cable in the listed US package.
Limitations and uncertainties
- No independent frequency-response, distortion, maximum-SPL or room-coverage measurements were established.
- The 50 m² coverage statement is Edifier’s claim, not a verified result.
- LDAC requires a compatible source; Bluetooth 5.3 alone does not guarantee high-resolution playback.
- Exact simultaneous USB charging limits should be checked against the current manual.
- App reliability, firmware longevity, saved-EQ behavior and phone compatibility were not established.
- The listed US price and inventory can change.
Who should buy the QD35?
Choose the QD35 if your priority is a tidy, powered desk system that combines music playback, ambient lighting and charging. It is especially logical for a home office or bedroom where one mains-powered unit can replace a separate speaker and charger.
Look elsewhere if your first priority is portability, battery life, outdoor durability, verified neutral monitoring, deep sub-bass or independently measured loudness. Those requirements are not answered by the published QD35 specification.
Final verdict
The Edifier QD35 is best understood as a multifunction desktop hub with a substantial two-way speaker, not merely as a 40 W Bluetooth box. Its strongest case is convenience: Bluetooth, wired inputs, app controls, lighting and USB charging share one 2.64 kg enclosure. At the October 2026 US listing price of $229.99, buy it when those combined functions have real value on your desk. Do not buy it solely because of the wattage, 40 kHz upper figure, LDAC label or 50 m² claim; none of those figures independently proves how it will sound in your room.
