But the review’s listening impressions—muddy bass and harsh treble—keep it from being an easy recommendation over every rival. It makes most sense if comfort, ANC and customization matter more to you than a consistently balanced sound.
What changes with the Wave Pro X?
The Wave Pro X succeeds EarFun’s Wave Pro, which Tom’s Guide describes as the brand’s latest flagship over-ear model. Its specification list is a substantial one for this category: dual 40 mm DLC and 10 mm LCP drivers, Bluetooth 6.0, multipoint, wired USB-C and 3.5 mm connections, and support for LDAC and aptX Lossless. Codec availability depends on the source device and its compatibility; the listed support does not mean every codec will work with every phone, computer or player.

EarFun’s IFA product page also advertises Auracast, multipoint and USB/AUX support. Those are manufacturer-listed features, not a guarantee that every combination of devices or connection modes will behave identically.

In Tom’s Guide’s review, vocal clarity is a strength, while bass comes across as muddy and treble as harsh. Those are the reviewer’s listening impressions, not results from an independent measurement in the cited material. They point to the main trade-off: the Wave Pro X offers flexibility and useful features, but its tuning may not satisfy listeners who want bass and treble to sound controlled and even.

The app customization is a plus for people who like adjusting their headphones, though the available review does not establish that customization fully resolves the reviewer’s concerns about the bass and treble. Are ANC, comfort and battery life good?
Tom’s Guide praises the Wave Pro X’s effective ANC and comfort. The review lists battery life of up to 90 hours with ANC off and up to 50 hours with ANC on. EarFun’s launch announcement and IFA page also advertise up to 90 hours. These are listed claims, not a promise of the runtime an individual listener will get; actual battery life can vary with use and settings.

How does it compare with the original and other options?
Tom’s Guide lists the Wave Pro X at $129 / £119 and says the original Wave Pro’s original retail price was $50 / £50 lower. EarFun announced a $129.99 price on September 3, 2026, with availability through its website and Amazon store. These are different published price references, and neither should be treated as a current local checkout price: retail prices and availability change by region and over time.

The review’s market discussion names Soundcore Space 2 and JBL Live 670NC, as well as the lower-priced JLab JBuds Lux ANC and CMF by Nothing Headphone Pro. The available evidence does not establish a controlled, side-by-side test across those headphones, so there is no defensible universal winner here. Compare the factors most relevant to your use:
- Sound: The review’s muddy-bass and harsh-treble impressions are the Wave Pro X’s clearest drawback. Give more weight to listening tests if a balanced tuning is essential.
- Noise cancellation and comfort: These are praised in the Wave Pro X review, but the evidence does not establish a ranking against every alternative.
- Battery and connections: Check the specifications for the particular model and confirm that its supported codecs and connections match your devices.
- Price: Compare current prices in your region rather than relying on launch or original retail pricing.
Who should consider the Wave Pro X?
It is a reasonable shortlist option if you want comfortable over-ear headphones with ANC, extensive connectivity, app customization and long manufacturer-listed battery life—and you are comfortable with the reviewer’s sound caveats. It is less compelling if you prioritize smooth bass and treble above those conveniences, or if a competing model offers the sound and fit you prefer at a lower current price.

- ADVANCED HEARING PROTECTION: Offers a 28 dB Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) with hybrid analog/digital circuits for clear, natural sound; perfect for shooting, construction, and outdoor activities.
- THREE OPERATIONAL MODES: Features Isolation, Awareness, and 5X Amplification modes; customize your listening experience whether you're looking to block out noise, stay alert to your surroundings, or enhance distant sounds.
- BLUETOOTH CONNECTIVITY: Includes a Bluetooth 5.0 lanyard for wireless audio streaming and calls, functioning with or without the lanyard; enjoy flexibility and convenience in any environment.
- DURABLE AND WATER-RESISTANT: Built to withstand the elements with an IPX6 rating, ensuring protection against heavy splashing and rain; ideal for use in rigorous and wet conditions.
- LONG-LASTING AND COMFORTABLE: Comes with an 80+ hours battery life on earbuds, 10 hours on the Bluetooth lanyard, and includes multiple tip sizes for a secure, comfortable fit during extended wear.
EarFun called the Wave Pro X its new flagship in its September 3, 2026 launch announcement, but that is the company’s positioning, not proof that it leads the whole category. The practical case for it rests on its feature set and the review’s positive findings, balanced against the sound criticisms and a price above the original Wave Pro’s original retail level.
