What is new in EA Sports FC 27?
EA launched FC 27 worldwide on 25 September 2026. Its headline additions span gameplay, Manager Career, Football Ultimate Team (FUT), and The Grounds. EA describes the features below; those descriptions are separate from the hands-on assessment later in this review.

Gameplay
EA says play is more fluid, with dynamic corners, enhanced attacking awareness, and player-focused defending. The publisher presents defending as more responsive to the individual player, but that is a feature description rather than evidence of how it performs across platforms or over a full season.
Manager Career
The Transfer Market has been rebuilt around active club bidding and player values, with negotiation clauses. Dynamic OVRs are intended to reflect form, morale, and fitness. EA also highlights Career scenarios and Manager Live Creator Challenges as ways to shape or take on managerial experiences.

Football Ultimate Team
FUT adds the Gallery, where players curate Player Items to raise their Gallery Level and earn rewards. T3’s hands-on also praised the Gallery and quicker new Squad Building Challenge (SBC) formats, though that assessment reflects one reviewer’s early experience.
The Grounds
The Grounds is a social football setting for Kickabouts, 1v1s, and Clubs, with mentors and ways to express a player’s identity on and off the pitch. It is available only on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. The full game’s availability on PS4, Xbox One, or the original Nintendo Switch does not mean those versions include every mode.

How good is FC 27 to play?
In a hands-on article published on 24 September 2026, T3 News Editor Rik Henderson said the game felt faster and more fluid and that manual defending was more rewarding. He also liked the FUT Gallery and quicker SBC formats. His reservations were that passing could feel sluggish or inaccurate, he was unconvinced attacking AI had changed much, and The Grounds had not captivated him.

That is a useful early impression, not a settled verdict: he played for a week on PS5 and PS5 Pro, did not test PC, and disclosed that EA supplied his review copy for free. The piece appeared one day before worldwide launch, so it cannot establish long-term balance, performance on every platform, or broad reviewer consensus.

EA lists the full game for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. The Grounds is limited to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.

EA says PS4-to-PS5 and Xbox One-to-Xbox Series X|S upgrades are available at no additional cost. Check the edition and mode details for the platform you plan to use, since an upgrade does not remove mode restrictions.

EA offers FC 27 Lite as a free download with a limited selection of modes. At launch, EA listed Kick-Off, Learn to Play, Online Friendlies, and Online Seasons. Persistent internet access and an EA Account are required; availability can vary by territory or change.

Choose Standard for the full game
EA says Standard Edition includes the full game and all core modes. It is the straightforward option if you want the complete game without paying for premium edition extras.
Consider Ultimate only for extras you value
EA describes Ultimate as including additional content. Ultimate and Ultimate Plus offered up to seven days of early access, but early access is no longer a reason to buy now that the game has launched. Ultimate Plus pre-orders ran only from 23 July through 31 August 2026; that edition was not offered on Nintendo platforms or the Epic Games Store and included more FC Points and Premium Passes. Compare current edition contents and prices before choosing—past pre-order benefits are not live offers.
How large is FC 27’s licensed football lineup?
Electronic Arts’ 2026 product materials claim more than 21,000 players, 800 clubs and national teams, 140 stadiums, 35 leagues, and 300 global football partners. These are EA-reported figures, not an independent audit.
