For Irish buyers, the Nintendo Switch 2 currently has the lowest observed price for EA SPORTS FC 27: €59.99 for a physical copy, compared with €79.99 for the Standard Edition on the Irish PlayStation and Xbox digital stores. That €20 difference is not a permanent platform price gap—it compares a promotional physical sale with digital-store pricing. Switch 2 still includes The Grounds mode and Clubs, but online play requires a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership. Choose PS5 or Xbox Series X|S if your priority is buying digitally within those ecosystems and using the display and performance capabilities advertised by Xbox; choose Switch 2 if portability and the lower observed physical price matter more.
EA FC 27 Ireland prices at a glance

| Platform | Edition and channel | Observed price | Price qualification |
|---|---|---|---|
| PS5 | Standard Edition, PlayStation Store Ireland digital | €79.99 | Digital-store listing |
| Xbox Series X|S | Standard Edition, Xbox Ireland digital | €79.99 | Digital-store listing |

| Switch 2 | Physical retail copy, Very Ireland promotion | €59.99 | Promotional price; regular price listed as €64 |

What the Standard Edition includes
EA says the Standard Edition provides access to the full game and all core modes when FC 27 launched globally on 25 September 2026. The edition name is therefore not an indication that the Switch 2 version is a cut-down trial. The main platform differences concern hardware features, portability and specific mode support rather than access to a separate launch date.
#1 Best Overall
- PHYSICAL DISC - Standard Edition for PlayStation 5 (disc) includes the full EA SPORTS FC 27 game. Not compatible with PlayStation 4 console.
- Experience The World's Game in EA SPORTS FC 27. Play in The Grounds, team up with friends in Clubs, learn from football mentors and express your style on and off the pitch
- Enjoy more authentic gameplay with dynamic corners, enhanced attacking intelligence, player-focused defending and community-inspired innovations that give you greater control in every match.
- Build your legacy in Manager Career with a rebuilt Transfer Market and Dynamic OVRs, then create your dream squad in Football Ultimate Team and showcase your achievements in the new FUT Gallery.
The Grounds and Clubs availability
The Grounds is the important content dividing line. EA states that certain content and features, including The Grounds mode and Clubs, are available only on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2.
- Available: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Switch 2.
- Not available: PS4 and Xbox One.
- Original Nintendo Switch: FC 27 launched on the platform, but EA’s supported-platform list for The Grounds does not include it.
That makes Switch 2 materially different from the original Switch: buyers who want Clubs or The Grounds can get those modes on Nintendo’s newer console, subject to the platform’s online requirements.

Graphics, frame-rate claims and multiplayer
Xbox Series X|S listing
The Irish Xbox store metadata advertises 4K Ultra HD, HDR10, 60 fps+ and cross-platform multiplayer and cross-platform co-op. These are capabilities stated in the store listing, not the result of an independent Irish performance test. Actual image quality can vary with the console model, display, settings and the mode being played.
Switch 2 play options
Nintendo lists several multiplayer configurations for the Switch 2 release:
Rank #3
- Local single-system play for 1–4 players.
- Local wireless play for 2 players.
- Online play for 2–100 players.
Nintendo also warns that online modes require a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership. The €59.99 game price does not include that separate subscription. Local play on one console does not require an online membership, so a household buying FC 27 mainly for couch matches can avoid that recurring requirement.
Which version should an Irish buyer choose?
Choose PS5 when
- You already use PlayStation and want a straightforward digital purchase from the Irish PlayStation Store.
- You need The Grounds and Clubs and do not want to move to a different console ecosystem.
- You prefer the convenience of a digital licence and are prepared to pay the listed €79.99.
Choose Xbox Series X|S when
- You are invested in Xbox accounts, accessories or multiplayer friends.
- The Xbox listing’s advertised 4K Ultra HD, HDR10, 60 fps+ and cross-platform multiplayer/co-op capabilities match your setup.
- You want The Grounds and Clubs on a current-generation Xbox rather than an older Xbox One.
Choose Switch 2 when
- You value handheld play and Nintendo’s local multiplayer options.
- You can obtain the physical copy at the observed €59.99 promotional price.
- You want The Grounds and Clubs but prefer Nintendo hardware.
- You understand that online modes require a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership.
What to check before checkout
- Confirm the platform: make sure the listing says Nintendo Switch 2, not the original Switch, and says Xbox Series X|S rather than Xbox One if you require The Grounds or Clubs.
- Compare like with like: the €20 difference compares physical Switch 2 retail with digital PS5 and Xbox pricing. A future Switch 2 price change or a digital console sale could remove it.
- Check the edition: the Standard Edition includes the full game and core modes at launch; verify that any more expensive edition is offering extras you actually want.
- Budget for online access: Switch 2 online modes need a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership, while local single-system matches support up to four players without that online requirement.
- Check stock and final totals: promotional prices can end, and delivery fees can change the effective cost of a physical copy.
What the evidence does—and does not—show
Nintendo of Europe lists more than 21,000 licensed players for FC 27. That figure describes the game’s licensed-player roster, not the number of Irish players or an online population guarantee. No independent Irish sales, frame-rate or player-population statistic establishes that one console has a larger local community. The safest comparison is therefore based on the confirmed mode list, store prices and each platform’s published play features.
Rank #4
- Standard Edition for PlayStation 5 (disc) includes the full EA SPORTS College Football 27 game.
- DYNASTY BLUEPRINT – Control your program’s future with recruiting, NIL, staff, facilities, and Athletic Director Expectations..
- ROAD TO GLORY – Build your player, explore new positions, earn NIL deals, chase the Heisman, and raise your Legacy Score.
- MASCOT MASHUP – Play as your favorite mascot, collect 120+ icons, and compete in wild 11-on-11 matchups full of school spirit.
Verdict for Ireland
Switch 2 is the value pick only when its €59.99 promotional physical price is still available and you accept Nintendo Switch Online for online modes. It does not sacrifice access to The Grounds or Clubs. PS5 and Xbox Series X|S cost €79.99 in the observed Irish digital stores and make more sense for buyers committed to those ecosystems or, in Xbox’s case, the listed display and multiplayer capabilities. Recheck the live price and stock before payment because the €20 gap is a temporary channel comparison, not a guaranteed permanent saving.
