Those are third-party database listings, not an official EA ranking of the best set-piece takers. EA’s separate ability page names Claudia Pina, Lionel Messi and Bruno Fernandes, so the answer depends on which list and filter you mean.
Who are the leading Dead Ball players in FC 27?
The tables keep the two FUT.GG PlayStyle categories separate. Ratings and player counts are those shown on FUT.GG’s live FC 27 page, accessed in 2026; database listings can change.

| PlayStyle listing | Players listed as leaders | Page count |
|---|---|---|
| Regular Dead Ball | Maradona (95), Ronaldinho (93), Zico (91) | 451 |
| Dead Ball+ | Smith (89), Koeman (89), Alvarez (86) | 9 |
FUT.GG’s Dead Ball page is the source for these names, ratings and counts. The figures identify leaders on that database page; they do not establish a cross-mode gameplay ranking or prove who scores the most free kicks.
Why does EA show a different trio?
EA’s localized Dutch ability page, where the feature is called “Dode bal,” names Claudia Pina, Lionel Messi and Bruno Fernandes as top-rated players with the ability. That is a separate official page result, not a continuation of FUT.GG’s leader lists. The sources do not establish that both pages apply the same filters or ranking method, so treat them as distinct answers rather than combining their names into one ranking. What does Dead Ball do?
FUT.GG describes Dead Ball as a specialist set-piece PlayStyle. Its page says regular Dead Ball improves set-piece speed, curve and accuracy, and makes the trajectory preview somewhat longer. Dead Ball+ raises those effects to exceptional and extends the preview to its maximum length. These are descriptions of the PlayStyle, not a complete table of player attributes or a measured comparison of in-game results. FUT.GG’s PlayStyle explanation
Which list should you use?
- Want the leading regular PlayStyle ratings? Use the regular Dead Ball names and ratings from FUT.GG.
- Looking specifically for Dead Ball+? Use the separate Dead Ball+ list; its ratings should not be compared as though it were the regular-PlayStyle table.
- Want EA’s named ability-page players? Use EA’s trio as a separate official result, not a unified ranking with FUT.GG.
- Choosing a player for a particular mode or card pool? Check whether that player’s item is available to you. EA’s launch ratings table covers Gold, Silver and Bronze Ultimate Team items, but excludes Heroes, Icons, Campaign Player Items and live form updates in other modes. EA also says player details may change following the September database update. EA FC 27 ratings
If you mean “best free-kick taker” as the player most effective in actual matches, neither of these lists settles that question. The available sources do not provide a complete, comparable free-kick accuracy and curve table for all candidates or a tested ranking across card types and modes. Verify any relevant in-game attributes in the card and mode you plan to use rather than treating the PlayStyle rating as a match-performance result.

What to know about FC 27 player data
EA Community Manager EA_Vendcera announced that the full FC 27 database was live with over 21,000 players. EA also said selected players in the Destined for Glory campaign would receive live upgrades based on real-world performance; the announcement gave the campaign dates as 25 September to 9 October 2026. These details help explain why a static shortlist may not stay current. EA’s FC 27 database announcement

For the most accurate shortlist, check the relevant database page and your own mode’s available items at the time you play. FUT.GG’s counts and ratings reflect its live page, while EA’s ratings page has a stated item scope; neither should be read as a universal ranking of every FC 27 card in every mode.
