For a lower listed UK price, the Shark SpeedStyle Pro is the clearer pick; choose the Dyson Supersonic if its four heat settings or a specific styling attachment better fit your routine. In a September 2026 UK comparison, the SpeedStyle Pro’s RRP was £179.99, versus £329.99 for the Supersonic. The right choice still depends on the exact model and what comes in its box: both product lines have different configurations, and the available evidence does not establish a controlled drying-speed winner.
Dyson Supersonic vs Shark SpeedStyle: the short comparison
These are premium hair dryers with overlapping core controls, but the price and accessory packages can make them better suited to different buyers. The September 3, 2026 Woman & Home comparison examined the original Dyson Supersonic and the Shark SpeedStyle Pro in a UK context. Its listed UK RRPs put the Shark £150 below the Dyson. Both had three speed settings and a two-year warranty in that comparison; the Dyson offered one additional heat setting.

Those figures are a useful snapshot, not a guarantee of today’s retailer price or the contents of every bundle. Shark sells multiple SpeedStyle configurations, and Dyson packages can vary by color and included attachments. Match the precise model and kit before treating the products as like-for-like.
| Specification | Dyson Supersonic | Shark SpeedStyle Pro |
|---|---|---|
| UK RRP in the September 3, 2026 comparison | £329.99 (Woman & Home, UK comparison) | £179.99 (Woman & Home, UK comparison) |

| Speed settings | 3 (Woman & Home, UK comparison) | 3 (Woman & Home, UK comparison) |
| Heat settings | 4 (Woman & Home, UK comparison; also listed in Dyson’s January 2024 US technical sheet) | 3 (Woman & Home, UK comparison) |
| Warranty in the UK comparison | 2 years (Woman & Home, UK comparison) | 2 years (Woman & Home, UK comparison) |
| Additional technical or warranty detail from a US source | Dyson’s January 2024 US technical sheet lists motor speed up to 110,000 rpm and a two-year parts-and-labor warranty. | SharkNinja’s US product page for a particular SpeedStyle model lists a two-year limited warranty. |
The 20 g weight difference is small on the comparison’s listed figures. It may matter to someone who is especially sensitive to tool weight, but it should not be treated as a decisive handling advantage without considering balance and how long the dryer is held. The power ratings are not a drying-time result: the available sources do not provide a controlled head-to-head timing protocol.

Read the table as a comparison of named configurations and dated claims, rather than as a complete specification for every product sold under either family name. The UK price and weight figures come from Woman & Home’s comparison; the detailed motor-speed figure and some warranty wording come from US manufacturer material. Those sources have different purposes and regions. A shopper should check the listing for the model actually available locally before using any one row to make a purchase decision.
Which one is better value?
Choose the SpeedStyle Pro for a lower UK list price
At the UK RRPs reported on September 3, 2026, the SpeedStyle Pro cost £150 less than the Supersonic. That is a substantial difference for a buyer comparing those particular UK products at list price. It does not prove the Shark is always cheaper: sale prices change, and bundles may include different pieces. Check the live price for the exact version and compare the box contents rather than relying on the product family name alone.
The £150 gap is a straightforward starting point, not a full value calculation. If the two listings have different attachments, they are not equivalent baskets. First decide which tools you will genuinely use, then compare the price of the relevant package on each side. If an item you need is absent, verify whether it is available for that exact model and what it costs before counting the cheaper kit as the better deal. The listed RRP comparison does not establish the current price of accessories or the availability of separate pieces.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsAlso distinguish a recommended retail price from a checkout price. The figures in this comparison are UK RRPs, not a promise that either dryer costs that amount at a retailer today. A promotion, a different bundle, or a regional model can change the arithmetic. When you compare offers, record the exact product name, SKU or configuration, listed box contents, and total local price; otherwise, a lower headline price may simply reflect a different package.
Consider the Dyson if its controls or attachments justify the difference for you
The Supersonic’s fourth heat setting gives you an additional listed heat option compared with the three in the SpeedStyle Pro configuration covered by Woman & Home. Dyson’s packages also span several styling needs. Whether the higher listed price is worthwhile depends on whether you will use the additional setting or the particular attachments in the package you are considering. A longer accessory list has little value if it contains tools you will not use.
That means the practical question is not simply, “Which brand has more attachments?” It is, “Does this exact box contain the one or two tools I need?” Someone who mainly wants a concentrator may have a different comparison from someone who specifically needs a diffuser or wide-tooth comb. If you are paying extra for a broader set, make sure the attachments included with the selected color and bundle actually match the list you have in mind.
Neither the UK RRP comparison nor the available manufacturer specifications establishes a universal value winner. A meaningful personal comparison is the price of the exact bundle you want, less any pieces you would otherwise have to buy separately. Do not assume an attachment is included just because it appears on a brand’s product page or in coverage of another package.

Which attachments matter for your hair and routine?
Start with the style you actually create. A concentrator supports directed airflow; a diffuser is relevant if you want to dry curls or waves while preserving their shape; a wide-tooth comb can help with detangling or stretching textured hair; and smoothing or flyaway tools are finishing options. These are use-case distinctions, not a claim that one dryer produces better results for every hair type.
Think through your routine in order: do you usually direct airflow while shaping the hair, diffuse, comb through it, or finish by smoothing loose strands? That answer helps narrow the package. A named attachment is only a potential benefit if you plan to use it; the product comparison does not establish that every attachment will suit every hair type or produce a particular result. The practical gain here is avoiding a mismatch between the kit you buy and the way you style.
Dyson Supersonic attachments
The Dyson packages described in the comparison include a broader range, with a styling concentrator, smoothing nozzle, diffuser, wide-tooth comb, flyaway attachment and gentle-air attachment among the listed options. Dyson’s January 2024 US technical sheet lists a styling concentrator, diffuser, gentle-air attachment, wide-tooth comb and flyaway attachment. A selected package on Dyson’s US product page shows three pieces: a styling concentrator, diffuser and wide-tooth comb. These lists differ because they describe different packages and sources; do not combine them into a promise about one box.
The difference between the six items noted in the comparison and the five on Dyson’s January 2024 technical sheet is a reminder to use the selected product page’s included-items section, not a general attachment roundup. The US product page’s three-piece package is another distinct example. These are not necessarily contradictions: the cited material describes different packages and dates. Check whether the particular Dyson listing you are buying names the concentrator, diffuser, comb, or finishing attachment you want.
Shark SpeedStyle attachments
For the straight/wavy SpeedStyle package described by Woman & Home, the box has three attachments. The comparison says a five-piece package adds a diffuser and round brush. Those contents apply to the configurations it describes, not automatically to every SpeedStyle kit. Shark’s US product page covers a particular model and should not be used to infer the contents of all regional packages.
So, if you want the diffuser or round brush, do not rely on the phrase “SpeedStyle” alone. Confirm that the named configuration is the five-piece package described, and then verify the seller’s exact included-items list. If you are comparing a Shark kit with a Dyson kit, count only confirmed box contents. Product photography, general marketing pages, and descriptions of another regional model are not substitutes for checking the selected package.
Check the box before paying
- Identify the exact model and region. “SpeedStyle” alone may not identify the same kit, and Dyson’s color or bundle selection can affect the package shown.
- Write down the attachments you will use. For example, decide whether you need a diffuser, wide-tooth comb, round brush or a concentrator before comparing bundles.
- Read the selected configuration’s included-items list. Confirm that each desired attachment is included with that exact SKU, not simply pictured elsewhere on the page.
- Compare like with like. If one package lacks an accessory you need, account for the cost and availability of obtaining it separately before deciding which is the better buy.
For a clean comparison, it can help to make a short checklist with three columns: the tool you need, whether it is confirmed in the Dyson package, and whether it is confirmed in the Shark package. Then compare prices only after filling those columns from the exact listings. This avoids counting an attachment twice, assuming an item comes with a product because it is pictured, or overlooking that one bundle is designed around a different styling use.

Do the controls make a practical difference?
In the September 2026 comparison, both dryers had three speed settings. The Supersonic had four heat settings, while the SpeedStyle Pro had three. The additional Dyson heat level gives another selectable option, but the specifications alone do not establish which temperature is right for a particular person or prove a difference in hair health, styling results or drying time.
Dyson’s January 2024 US technical sheet independently lists three airflow settings and four heat settings for the Supersonic, as well as a motor speed of up to 110,000 rpm. That document is version 1/24 and says, “All information subject to change.” Treat its specifications as a dated manufacturer document, not as a guarantee that every later product configuration or regional listing is identical.
The two sources offer a useful consistency check for the listed Dyson control counts: the UK comparison and the older US sheet each list three speed or airflow settings and four heat settings. The US sheet adds the motor-speed figure, but that number is not a direct measure of how quickly a person’s hair will dry. It should not be treated as a comparative result against Shark, for which the cited material does not provide a matching motor-speed measurement.
For a buyer who values more heat choices, the Supersonic has the edge on the cited setting count. If three heat levels are sufficient for your routine, that difference may not justify a higher price by itself. The cited sources do not provide a test that connects the extra setting to a particular improvement in results.
Is the Shark SpeedStyle as good as the Dyson Supersonic?
There is no single evidence-based answer for every buyer. The SpeedStyle Pro is the lower-listed-price option in the UK comparison, with the same listed number of speed settings and only a 20 g weight difference. The Supersonic offers four rather than three heat settings and is sold in packages with a wider selection of styling attachments. Those are concrete differences; they do not establish that either dryer is categorically better at drying or styling all hair.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
The comparison source reports hands-on work, but the available evidence does not establish a controlled, reproducible head-to-head test of drying time. Wattage is not a substitute for such a test. The SpeedStyle Pro’s 1750 W rating is higher than the Supersonic’s 1600 W rating in the UK comparison, but those numbers alone cannot show which dryer dries hair faster. Nor do the cited sources support a universal claim that one is quieter, safer or better for a particular hair type.
That distinction matters when reading speed claims. A higher wattage rating describes the listed power figure; it does not, by itself, tell you how long a standardized section of hair takes to dry in comparable conditions. The cited material does not provide a disclosed, repeatable timing protocol for these two models. Shark’s own speed-related marketing should likewise be understood as a manufacturer claim, not as an independent head-to-head finding.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
There is also no basis here for declaring a winner on noise, safety, or results across all textures and routines. A hands-on editorial comparison can inform a buying decision, but it is not the same as a controlled test designed to isolate drying speed or measure outcomes across users. If those are your deciding factors, avoid treating the wattage, motor-speed figure, or number of settings as a proxy for evidence that is not reported.
Warranty and region: compare the right terms
Woman & Home reports a two-year warranty for both dryers in its UK comparison. The manufacturer documents cited for the United States use more specific wording: Dyson’s January 2024 US technical sheet lists a two-year parts-and-labor warranty, while SharkNinja’s US page for a particular SpeedStyle model lists a two-year limited warranty. These descriptions are not interchangeable, and the US terms do not establish the coverage on a UK purchase.

Check what the stated term covers, whether registration or proof of purchase is required, and who handles a claim. The cited comparison’s two-year UK figures do not by themselves explain exclusions or service procedures.
In particular, do not transfer the phrase “parts and labor” from Dyson’s US technical sheet to a UK purchase, or interpret Shark’s US “limited” warranty as the full terms for another country. A shared two-year length does not mean identical coverage. Verify the local terms for the model you will buy, and keep the product and seller details with your purchase records so that you can refer back to the right warranty information if needed.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to choose between them
- Set your real budget. Use the current local price for the exact bundle; the £329.99 and £179.99 figures are UK RRPs reported on September 3, 2026, not a live offer check.
- Choose the attachments you need. Decide whether a diffuser, comb, round brush, concentrator or finishing tool matters to your routine, then verify it is in the selected box.
- Decide how much the fourth heat level matters. The Supersonic has four settings in the cited comparison; the SpeedStyle Pro has three.
- Consider weight without overvaluing the number. The reported difference is 20 g. If you can, assess how each model feels in hand rather than treating that measurement as a complete account of comfort.
- Confirm the local warranty. Use the terms for the region and exact model you will buy, not a warranty statement from another country.
- Ignore speed conclusions based on wattage alone. The cited evidence does not establish a controlled head-to-head winner for drying time.
One useful way to decide is to eliminate mismatches before weighing brand preference. First set a maximum price using the current offer for the exact bundle. Next rule out packages that do not contain a tool you consider essential, or calculate the extra cost only if that accessory is confirmed available separately. Then compare the remaining differences: three versus four heat settings, the small listed weight gap, and the regional warranty wording. This turns a broad brand comparison into a decision about the products actually in your basket.
If the lower UK list price matters most and the selected Shark kit includes your essential tools, the SpeedStyle Pro is the more straightforward value choice in the cited comparison. If you specifically want the fourth heat level or a Dyson package’s particular attachment selection, the Supersonic may make more sense despite its higher cited RRP. Neither conclusion should be extended to every sale, regional bundle, or version sold under the same family name.
