What the Dyson CameraJet is
Dyson launched CameraJet globally on September 1, 2026. It combines a sonic toothbrush with a targeted mouthrinse jet, a 100,000-pixel macro camera, machine-learning gap detection, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, and the MyDyson app.

The camera scans 28 live images per second. When its software identifies an interdental gap, Dyson says it can trigger the conical jet within 100 milliseconds. Does it actually floss?
CameraJet is a liquid-flosser, not a string-floss dispenser. The camera identifies gaps and aims a narrow mouthrinse stream at them while you brush. That can make missed areas more visible and more repeatable than brushing alone, but it is not the same physical action as sliding floss under the gumline. The available evidence establishes the targeting system, not that it replaces every form of interdental cleaning for every user.

What using it is like
TechRadar used CameraJet for a week before launch. The reviewer found the live MyDyson camera view distinctive, the brushing thorough and the handle comfortable despite its bulk. The experience is more instructional than a conventional electric toothbrush because you can see the camera’s view and receive feedback about gaps.

The learning curve
You have to keep the brush moving in a way that lets the camera identify each gap. TechRadar found that took practice, and the jet did not always fire when expected at first. Keeping your mouth closed matters too: opening it while the conical stream is active can splash the mirror.

Those scores describe an early hands-on session, not a long-term durability test. The practical trade-offs are a bulky handle, a messier jet than ordinary brushing, premium refill costs and the need to learn the camera’s positioning.
The reliability and water-seepage issue
On September 30, 2026, Dyson acknowledged a manufacturing problem affecting one production batch of jet tubes. Its statement said the process issue created “the potential for water seepage which affected the performance of a small number of products early on.” Dyson said it isolated impacted products, causing a temporary out-of-stock position, and that it was in full production and shipping.
Marie Claire reported that CameraJet disappeared from retailer sites soon after launch. It also quoted Dyson as saying no devices had shipped in the United States and that only a small UK batch was affected. That geographic detail is a reported company statement rather than independently verified shipment data.

The evidence supports a limited early-batch process issue, not a measured failure rate for the entire product line. There is also no established long-term reliability record yet, so buyers should avoid treating isolated social-media reports as a statistical defect rate.
Price, refills and availability
Dyson’s US product page lists CameraJet at $499.99 and currently shows it out of stock. That is the hardware price; the system also depends on compatible brush heads, toothpaste and mouthrinse. TechRadar reported that the refills are expensive, although the available reporting does not provide a complete recurring-cost schedule.

Dyson recommends low-foaming, SLS-free toothpaste and mouthrinse because excess foam can interfere with camera targeting. The RFID brush heads are designed to track wear, making genuine replacement heads part of the intended ownership system rather than an optional accessory.
How it compares with other smart toothbrushes
TechRadar notes that Oclean, Philips, Oral-B and Feno sell smart toothbrushes with combinations of sensors, apps or voice guidance. Its review found none with CameraJet’s built-in endoscopic-style camera. That makes Dyson’s system different, but uniqueness does not by itself establish better clinical cleaning or lower ownership cost.
Who should consider CameraJet
It may suit you if
- You want visual feedback about where the brush is and which gaps you are missing.
- You are willing to learn the camera positioning and keep your mouth closed during jet use.
- You can budget for the $499.99 purchase and ongoing proprietary fluids and heads.
- You value a swappable battery, travel case and app-connected tracking.
Waiting is more sensible if
- You need a dependable device immediately while US availability remains uncertain.
- You dislike water spray, bathroom cleanup or bulky handles.
- You want predictable long-term reliability evidence rather than an early-generation product.
- You prefer inexpensive, widely available replacement heads and toothpaste.
Bottom line
CameraJet is a compelling demonstration of camera-guided oral care, and the one-week review suggests it can make brushing more thorough and informative. At $499.99, however, the refill burden, splash-prone jet and unresolved long-term track record make it difficult to call a strong value. If you are interested, verify that you are receiving a post-issue production unit and confirm genuine head and fluid availability before paying full price.
