What is included in Complete Edition Remastered?
The package brings together all content from DYNASTY WARRIORS 3 and DYNASTY WARRIORS 3: Xtreme Legends. The publisher says the remaster includes more than 40 returning officers, along with Xtreme Legends stories, bodyguard customization, weapons and challenge modes. What Xtreme Legends adds
The expansion includes stories for seven officers, including Lu Bu, Meng Huo and Yuan Shao. It also adds bodyguard customization, new weapons and four types of challenge mode. Those are part of the remastered package rather than a separate expansion purchase.
What platforms is it on?
The final release is available on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC through Steam. Although the original March 2026 announcement listed the original Nintendo Switch, the final platform notice does not; do not assume that a Switch version shipped. The publisher describes the game as rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5, but the official information cited here does not establish platform-by-platform performance or visual differences. Choose based on the platform you own and prefer, rather than assuming one version runs or looks better.
How does the remaster differ from the original?
The original DYNASTY WARRIORS 3 was the first entry in the series to feature mechanics that became mainstays, including True Musou Attacks, simultaneous two-player play and officer development. KOEI TECMO America also says it was the first game in the series to sell more than one million copies; the page gives no date or later sales total for that historical milestone.

The remaster updates the presentation and adds new officers, unlockable scenarios and combat systems, while retaining the original and Xtreme Legends content. The publisher’s game page describes the rebuilt game and original features; the launch announcement explains the additions.
New combat systems
- Evasion: avoid an incoming attack or briefly withdraw. Time it precisely to trigger a counter.
- Perfect Power Guard: a well-timed guard creates a chance to counter.
- Weapon Fusion: consume weapons you do not need to transfer elemental attributes and skills.
You can toggle the new features individually. Classic Settings favor a feel closer to the original, while Normal Settings use the recommended remastered setup and its new systems. This makes the update optional rather than a single combat overhaul imposed on every player.
Can you play co-op, and is online multiplayer available?
Two-player split-screen is available offline in Musou, Free and VS modes. That is the multiplayer option confirmed for the released game.
KOEI TECMO Europe has announced a post-launch update for online two-player co-op, but has not published its timing or full feature details. Its October 1 launch announcement says, “Further information regarding this update, including full details and timing, will be revealed in due course.” Accordingly, online co-op should be treated as planned, not as a feature confirmed available at launch.
Is there a demo?
Yes. KOEI TECMO America announced a free demo on September 24, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S and Steam. It features the Hulao Gate (Allied Forces) scenario and six playable officers. The announcement is available from KOEI TECMO America.
Which edition should you buy?
The US Nintendo store lists a digital standard edition, a Digital Deluxe Edition and a separate Deluxe Edition Upgrade. The Deluxe package includes the main game plus 42 retro costumes, a Wind Scroll and Tiger Amulet, Six Secret Teachings, 42 weapons usable for fusion, and an Officer Concept Art Collection viewable in the game. These details apply to the US Nintendo Switch 2 listing; check the relevant store for other platforms or regions. Nintendo’s US listing distinguishes the bundle from the upgrade, so owners of the base game should check carefully to avoid buying the game twice.
KOEI TECMO America’s demo announcement also described digital standard and deluxe editions and a Retro-Style Red Hare Saddle preorder bonus. The publisher said the bonus might become available separately later, so it should not be treated as permanently preorder-exclusive. The official materials cited here confirm digital availability, but do not establish whether a physical edition of the remaster is sold.
