Every garment fabric piece—bodice, skirt, sleeves, and any other cut panel—must be burlap. Accessories may use other materials, but they cost money. Current guides do not establish a separate cash prize or a dedicated challenge countdown.
What the Burlap Challenge requires
The challenge has four practical conditions. You must produce three dresses, create them in off-the-rack mode, make each design visibly different, and use burlap for every garment fabric piece. A dress can include accessories or trims made from another material, but changing the accessory does not make an otherwise identical dress a new design.

Unlock off-the-rack construction first
Off-the-rack construction is gated behind early progression. The October 17–18, 2026 gameplay guides describe the expected unlock point as completion and turn-in of the first three commissions. Those three commissions are a progression requirement; they are not counted as the three Burlap Challenge dresses.

Unlock sequence
- Accept the opening commissions normally.
- Finish the required garment work and submit each commission rather than leaving it as an unfinished project.
- After the third commission is completed, return to the garment-creation interface.
- Confirm that an off-the-rack project option is available before buying burlap or planning the challenge designs.
A versioned off-the-rack guide identifies the third commission as the expected unlock point but warns that patches can change exact behavior. If the option is absent, first verify that all three jobs were fully turned in, then check the live build’s progression and interface. Do not assume that a partially completed third commission has triggered the gate.
How to make and submit the three dresses
Use this order for each dress so that a fabric mistake or duplicate design does not waste a project.
1. Start the correct project type
Choose an off-the-rack project, not a customer commission. Commission requirement bars can reject burlap for reasons unrelated to this challenge, while the challenge itself is about producing saleable off-the-rack garments.
2. Plan three distinct designs before cutting
Decide how the dresses will differ before placing panels. Change at least one major visual element for every project: pattern, silhouette, sleeve style, neckline, or the arrangement of accessories. The safest approach is to vary several elements at once. For example, use a fitted sleeveless dress for the first, a fuller skirt with long sleeves for the second, and a contrasting neckline with a different trim layout for the third.

3. Assign burlap to every garment panel
Inspect each cut piece in the construction interface. The bodice, skirt, sleeves, lining-like garment panels, and any other fabric panel that belongs to the dress must be assigned burlap. Leaving one panel on a default or purchased fabric can prevent the dress from satisfying the rule even when most of its surface is burlap.
4. Cut accurately
Cutting quality contributes to the finished result and therefore to the amount the dress can sell for. Take the time to align the pattern and avoid waste or inaccurate cuts. Free fabric does not remove the value of careful workmanship.
5. Sew carefully
Complete the seams and assembly with the best accuracy you can achieve. The guides identify workmanship as a factor in the final sale result, so a simple, well-made dress is generally safer than an ambitious design that is poorly assembled.

Add an accessory only when its expected contribution to the sale value is likely to exceed its purchase price or when it helps create a clearly different design. Accessories are permitted, but they are not free merely because burlap costs nothing. Record the projected sale value before and after an optional item when the interface provides those figures.

7. Finish and sell, then repeat
Complete the first dress and sell it before moving to the next project. Repeat the fabric inspection and uniqueness check for the second and third dresses. The challenge objective is reached by completing and selling three qualifying, visibly different dresses.
Burlap’s in-game properties
The extracted material data reported by iTechGuides Team in 2026 lists burlap at zero gold per metre, with a Brown effect, an Uncomfortable value of +50, and a Patterned value of +10. The same data reports reductions to 16 of 22 tracked style tags.

Burlap’s free material cost is its main economic advantage. Its Brown, Uncomfortable, and Patterned effects can fit some briefs, while the broad tag reductions can undermine comfort, elegance, glamour, romance, floral, and related targets. For ordinary commissions, use the current in-game requirement bars because a challenge recipe does not override a customer’s live requirements.

Designing three unique dresses without overspending
Uniqueness does not require three expensive costumes. It requires three designs that are visibly distinguishable. You can keep burlap as the only garment fabric and vary the construction around it.

Pattern, silhouette, sleeves, and accessory arrangement are all useful uniqueness axes. Changing only a tiny color detail may not be enough, especially if the game treats the underlying design as a duplicate. When in doubt, alter the silhouette and at least one structural component as well as the finishing.

The available guides describe the objective as completing and selling three unique burlap dresses for as much value as possible. They do not publish an authoritative fixed cash-prize table, achievement payout, or extra reward that appears independently of the sale proceeds.
That means your measurable return comes from the three completed sales. Cutting and sewing quality, the design’s sale value, and accessory costs all matter. A higher sticker price is not automatically a better result if expensive accessories consume the increase. Compare the projected sale value with the total accessory bill before committing to optional decoration.
Is there a time limit?
No authoritative source dated for the current challenge establishes a dedicated Burlap Challenge countdown or deadline. Treat ordinary commission scheduling as a separate system: a customer job may have its own timing rules, but those rules do not prove that the off-the-rack Burlap Challenge has a timer.
If the live challenge interface displays a timer, follow that in-game value because the guides do not provide a verified number. If no timer is shown, do not invent a deadline. Material values, unlock thresholds, and interface behavior can change with patches, so the current build controls any conflict with older guidance.
Troubleshooting common failures
Off-the-rack is still missing
- Confirm that the first three commissions were completed and turned in, not merely started.
- Reopen the creation menu after submitting the third commission.
- Check the current game build, because the expected third-commission unlock can change after an update.
A dress is not counted
- Inspect every garment panel, including sleeves and less obvious cut sections, for non-burlap fabric.
- Verify that the project was created in off-the-rack mode.
- Compare the design with the previous dresses and change a major structural feature if they are too similar.
The sale value is low
- Improve cutting accuracy and sewing quality on the next project.
- Remove optional accessories whose price is greater than their added sale value.
- Remember that zero-gold burlap applies to the fabric metre cost, not to paid accessories or other construction expenses.
A commission fails when you use burlap
Return to the live commission requirement bars. The Burlap Challenge’s fabric rule applies to its own dresses; it does not make burlap satisfy every ordinary customer brief. If a commission asks for comfort, elegance, glamour, romance, floral qualities, or another tag that burlap reduces, use the materials needed for that commission instead.
