Dressmaker’s Build 443, released October 14, 2026, expands the sewing game with new skirt silhouettes, cottons, laces, gradient silks and metallic trims. It also overhauls trim placement and several accessibility controls. The patch can change how existing commissions are scored because small pieces such as collars and sleeves now count more toward color and fabric requirements, while corrected trim tilt offsets may make some established designs look slightly different.
What Build 443 adds
Outrun Gaming describes Build 443 as primarily a tutorial, controls, user-interface and accessibility update, with its new content unlocked through campaign progression. The additions fall into four practical groups: garment shapes, fabrics and lace, silks, and decorative hardware.

Controls and workflow improvements
Build 443 addresses the fiddly parts of arranging a garment, especially trim and accessories. The changes are useful both for first-time players learning the cutting room and for experienced players making precise commission designs.

Trim placement and editing
- Fast trim placement reduces the steps needed to apply decoration.
- Negative trim heights allow a trim to sit below the usual surface level.
- Trim duplication makes repeated borders and matching accents quicker to build.
- Default trim tilt offsets are corrected, although that correction can move some previously adjusted trims slightly.
- Off-rack deletion lets you remove a pre-made dress without the older, more indirect workflow.
Mannequin, accessory and camera controls
- Drag-to-rotate mannequin controls replace slower rotation input for many adjustments.
- Accessory movement and selection are more consistent.
- An accessory rotation gizmo provides direct visual rotation.
- Camera controls are smoother, which helps when inspecting seams, hems and rear-facing decoration.
Accessibility and interface changes
- Less-animation and bloom options reduce visual motion and effects.
- A randomize button was added to the sketchbook.
- Cutting-room controls and tooltips are clearer.
- The patch fixes reported flashing, clipping, animation, trim-breakage, crash and stutter problems.
Why an older dress may receive a different score
The most important behind-the-scenes change is the revision to color and fabric “fudging,” the system that determines how component choices contribute to a commission. Build 443 gives small components—including collars and sleeves—a larger boost, so they now influence requirements more meaningfully.
As a result, a completed dress made before the update may display a different score when viewed after Build 443. That does not necessarily mean the garment’s construction was altered; the evaluation rules changed. Recheck the displayed requirements before remaking a successful design, particularly if its match depended on a collar, sleeve or another small panel.
Trim presentation can also change independently of scoring. Because default tilt offsets were fixed, an existing trim that had been manually adjusted may sit at a slightly different angle or height after the patch. Use the new height controls, including negative values, and the rotation gizmo to restore the intended placement.
How the update fits Dressmaker’s larger game
Dressmaker launched on Steam on September 21, 2026. Developed by Cozy Lives and published by Free Lives, it combines selecting fabric, arranging and cutting patterns, sewing garments, decorating them and serving townsfolk. Players can also sell completed dresses off the rack, a workflow that benefits directly from the new deletion and accessory-editing controls.
Steam listed a 98% positive English rating from 10,314 reviews when accessed on October 14, 2026. Team Dressmaker said the developers have enjoyed seeing player dresses shared as images, videos, comments, memes and fan art, emphasizing the community’s variety and creativity.

- Progress through the campaign to unlock the new skirts, materials and trims.
- Open an existing commission and note its displayed score and color or fabric requirements before changing anything.
- Inspect collars, sleeves and other small components if a score has shifted.
- Check trim tilt and height, especially on designs that used manual offsets before Build 443.
- Use duplication for repeated trim, the rotation gizmo for accessories and negative heights for recessed decoration.
- Enable less animation or reduced bloom if the updated visual effects are distracting.
Bottom line for returning and new players
Build 443 is more than a content drop. The chrysanthemum and pencil-skirt variants broaden silhouette choices, while the new cottons, lace, silks and metallic decorations add more ways to satisfy a commission’s palette and material brief. Its larger impact is systemic: improved placement tools make detailed work faster, and revised requirement weighting means older dresses should be judged by the new scoring display rather than assumed to retain their previous numbers.
