The Dreame X60 Ultra is a high-end robot vacuum and mop that, in the one hands-on review we draw on, handled concrete dust, grit, leaves and a shedding dog well enough to make a conventional vacuum an occasional tool. It is not a replacement for one, it stumbled on a long nail, and its app needs patience. This piece is an evaluation built on iTWire’s review by Andrew Matler (published 18 September 2026) and Dreame’s own published specifications. It is not our own lab test.
The question the review is really asking
Matler frames it this way: “The important question is no longer whether a robot can wander around collecting crumbs. It is whether it can maintain the floor well enough, often enough, that bringing out the conventional vacuum becomes an occasional job.” That is the right test for a robot costing well over a thousand dollars, and it is the lens used below.

Where the review was done, and what that does and doesn’t prove
The test home was undergoing renovation: new floating floors, concrete dust and grit, a very hairy dog, and two working adults. Dreame supplied the unit, and iTWire’s disclosure says: “Dreame supplied the X60 Ultra for review. Following the review period, an arrangement was made for us to retain the unit.”

The findings are one reviewer’s experience in one house. No controlled benchmark, standardized cleaning score or measured time-saving figure for this unit turned up in the sources examined, so treat the verdicts as informed anecdote rather than data.

The dock empties dust, refills the robot’s water, automatically adds cleaning solution, washes the mop pads and dries them. The robot uses dual brushes.
What worked in the renovation home
Debris and dog hair
Matler reports the robot picked up concrete dust, grit, leaves, twigs and dog hair without repeated clogging, and without him having to cut hair out of the brushes. That is the claim that matters most to pet owners, since tangled brush rolls are the usual complaint with robots.

Mopping on new floating floors
He describes the mopping result on the new floating floor as especially visible. Hard-floor homes are where a mopping dock earns its keep, though one reviewer’s floors cannot tell you how it would do on your tiles or sealed timber.
Mapping
The robot mapped rectangular rooms and also worked out the household’s triangular kitchen, which is a layout that often confuses simpler navigation.
Thresholds: read the 8.8 cm figure carefully
The headline 8.8 cm obstacle claim applies to a double-layer threshold, where an intermediate lower step is more than 23 cm across. For a single vertical step, Dreame’s maximum is 4.5 cm, and Matler says that is the more representative number for most homes. In his house the robot crossed a laundry/powder-room transition of roughly four centimetres. Measure your own thresholds and check which type they are before relying on the big number.

- DREAME's Thinnest Robot Vacuum at 3.13in (7.95cm): At just 3.13in (7.95cm) slim, X60 Max Ultra Complete redefines what a robot vacuum can reach. It glides under sofas and beds with ease, reaching hidden dust in low spaces where traditional cleaners get stuck.

For comparison, Dreame lists the X50 Ultra at 8.9 cm tall with a 6 cm double-layer crossing, against 7.95 cm and 8.8 cm for the X60 Ultra. Low height matters for furniture clearance, but the review does not report under-furniture tests beyond the general mapping and cleaning results.

Nails and construction debris
The robot picked up some small nails during renovation, but a nail about five centimetres long stopped it. If you are mid-build, sweep or magnet-sweep first.
The app
Control is extensive, but the organization and first-time guidance could be clearer. Expect a learning curve before you find the carpet, zone and mop settings.

Carpet
Matler kept the robot off a newly installed loop-pile carpet after being advised against a rotating brush head on it. The app offers carpet-handling options, and the robot can leave its mop pads at the dock before vacuuming carpet. If your home has delicate or loop-pile carpet, confirm the right setting with the carpet maker or retailer first.
It doesn’t retire your upright
The reviewer advises readers not to discard a conventional vacuum. Stairs, edges, upholstery and big messes still need one.
Price and what it takes to get value
Pricing differs by market and changes often:
- Australia: A$1,999, reduced from A$2,999, per Dreame Australia as checked by iTWire on 3 September 2026.
- United States: $1,499.99 on Dreame US’s product page at the time of our check, with a 30-day return policy displayed.
Matler’s conclusion is that daily maintenance can reduce accumulated cleaning work in a busy home, but the value depends on running it regularly and the unit is expensive. A robot that sits idle saves nothing.
Best Value

How to decide
Don’t choose on suction alone. The review points to brush design, navigation, access and run frequency as equally important. Weigh these against your home:
- Threshold type and height, using the single-step 4.5 cm figure as your baseline.
- Clearance under your lowest furniture against the 7.95 cm body height.
- Pet hair load, and how tolerant you are of brush maintenance.
- Floor mix: hard floors favor this class of mopping dock; loop-pile or shaggy carpet calls for caution.
- Space for the dock, which holds the tanks and dust bag.
- Willingness to learn the app and keep the robot on a schedule.
Dreame’s X60 Max Ultra Complete shares several headline X60 specifications but adds a retractable pressure chamber and dual-solution compartment, according to Dreame. These model comparisons are manufacturer-published, not independent head-to-head results.
Replacement bags, pads and brushes are ongoing costs. Verify that any accessory is listed as compatible with the X60 Ultra specifically before buying.

The Bottom Line
The X60 Ultra looks like a strong choice for a hard-floor, pet-owning household that will run it daily and can accept an imperfect app. If your floors are mostly delicate carpet, your thresholds are tall single steps, or you won’t use it routinely, the price is hard to justify.
