The Dreame X40 Ultra robot vacuum and mop was listed at $499.99 on Amazon on October 15, 2026, according to Android Authority, versus a stated $589.99 regular price. That is a reported 15% reduction and the lowest 2026 price the publication had seen at the time. Retail price, inventory and discount claims can change, so verify the live listing before ordering.
What the $499.99 X40 Ultra includes
The X40 Ultra is a fully automated vacuum-and-mop system: the robot handles floor cleaning while its dock washes and dries the mop, detects dirt and can send the mop for another wash or remop a section. Dreame specifies 12,000Pa of suction, but that is a manufacturer rating rather than an independent cleaning-test score.

How the hot-water mop system works
After mopping, the robot returns to the dock instead of leaving wet pads on the floor. The dock uses heated water to wash the pads, checks the dirt level and can repeat the wash when needed. It can also remop a floor area when the cleaning cycle indicates that more work is required. Hot-air drying then helps the pads dry between runs, while the self-cleaning washboard reduces residue inside the dock.

Will it keep carpets dry?
The X40 Ultra is designed to separate wet and dry cleaning. Its mops can lift during vacuuming and can be removed when you want to run a vacuum-only cycle. That behavior is useful in homes with hard floors and rugs, but it is not an unconditional guarantee for every carpet.
Dreame advises avoiding medium- and high-pile carpets above 3mm when appropriate. In the app, set carpet behavior and no-mop zones conservatively, and remove the mop assemblies for areas where any moisture would be unacceptable. Actual carpet protection depends on the selected settings, carpet construction and the robot’s ability to recognize the surface.

What the dock and app automate
Hands-off dock maintenance
- Hot-water mop washing and hot-air drying.
- Dirt detection that can trigger another mop wash.
- Automatic floor remopping when a pass needs repeating.
- Washboard self-cleaning.
- Automatic cleaning-solution addition.
- Automatic clean- and used-water tank management.
Mapping and scheduling
The accompanying app supports quick room mapping, room or zone customization and scheduled cleaning. A practical setup is to map the home first, divide rooms into zones, mark carpet and no-mop areas, then assign separate vacuum and mop schedules. Review the map after the first run; furniture, thresholds and reflective surfaces can cause boundaries to need adjustment.

|---|---|---|
| Amazon price reported by Android Authority | $499.99 | Observed October 15, 2026; subject to change |

At $499.99, the value proposition is the combination of a high stated suction rating, removable and liftable mops, and a dock that performs washing, drying and water management. The price makes more sense if you will use both vacuuming and mopping and want to minimize manual pad cleaning. If you only need basic vacuuming, the extra dock hardware and consumables may be unnecessary.

Before you buy: requirements and recurring work
- Dock space: Leave room for the robot to approach and for the dock’s tanks and wash system to be serviced.
- Water and waste handling: The 4.5L clean-water and 4.0L used-water tanks still need filling and emptying unless you use a compatible optional water-hookup setup.
- Consumables: Mop pads, dust bags and cleaning solution eventually need replacement; exact replacement intervals are not stated here.
- Floor rules: Configure carpet and no-mop zones, especially for medium- or high-pile carpet over 3mm.
- Thresholds: Dreame’s 22mm obstacle-crossing specification does not mean every doorway or irregular transition will be crossed reliably.
Potential pitfalls and fixes
Mops remain damp or smell
Confirm that hot-air drying is enabled, the dock has ventilation clearance and the washboard is clean. Increase drying time if the app provides that control, and inspect the pads rather than assuming a hot-water wash eliminates all buildup.
Carpet gets wet
Check carpet detection, raise or remove the mop assemblies, and create a no-mop zone around sensitive rugs. For pile above 3mm, follow Dreame’s avoidance guidance instead of relying solely on automatic lifting.

The robot misses edges or rooms
Remap after moving furniture, clear the dock approach and refine room or zone boundaries in the app. A manufacturer feature description is not a guarantee of complete edge coverage in every layout.

Is the Dreame X40 Ultra worth buying at $499.99?
It is a strong deal for a mixed-floor home that will benefit from automated mopping, hot-water pad washing, drying and scheduled room cleaning. The $90 gap between the reported $499.99 sale price and the $589.99 stated RRP buys a system with substantial dock automation, not merely a higher suction number. Keep expectations calibrated: 12,000Pa is a specification, 70°C is a laboratory-tested target that can vary, and carpet results depend on settings and floor conditions. Verify the live price and configure carpet protection before running the first full cycle.
