The Dreame AirPursue PM20 is best understood as a large, feature-packed purifier that also projects fan-like airflow, can heat, and can steer air toward a moving person. Its appeal is convenience and versatility, not a small footprint or a low-cost route to basic air cleaning. TechRadar’s reviewer reported reliable person-following and useful app readings during several weeks of use in July 2025; those observations are hands-on experience, not controlled laboratory testing.
What the Dreame AirPursue PM20 does
The PM20 combines purification with fan and heating modes. Dreame’s official product page lists DualFlow airflow, a 400 m³/h clean air delivery rate (CADR), a recommended space of 1,690 sq ft, and an air-supply distance of 10 m. These are manufacturer specifications; the page says its CADR data are based on Dreame’s in-house laboratory, and the recommended-space figure is not an independent guarantee of performance in every room.

Dreame’s product-page FAQ puts the design rationale this way: “A high CADR is not enough if clean air can’t reach those areas.” The PM20’s airflow direction and tracking features are intended to address that concern, alongside filtration.

TechRadar’s review describes oscillation settings of 45°, 90°, or 180°, plus an AI Follow mode that directs airflow toward a person. The reviewer said AI Follow tracked them reliably during testing. Fan speed runs from 1 to 10, and the heater can be set from 78°F to 104°F, according to TechRadar. Heating is a genuine additional mode; the available evidence does not establish that the PM20 provides mechanical cooling, so its fan-like airflow should not be mistaken for an air conditioner.

The unit measures 14.9 × 14.9 × 33.4 inches, per TechRadar. That tall, substantial form may be awkward in a compact room, though the reviewer found its wheels useful when moving it between rooms. Controls include onboard buttons, a remote, the app, and voice control, as listed in the review. A 12-hour timer is also reported by TechRadar.
Filtration, sensors, and what the readings mean
Dreame describes a four-layer system: a magnetic housing that captures large particles, high-efficiency composite filtration, activated carbon, and catalytic decomposition of formaldehyde. The manufacturer identifies the high-efficiency media as H13 grade under GTT TM 018-2010 and a proprietary GTT in-house method. Dreame also advertises up to 99.99% removal for PM10 and PM2.5 on its AirPursue Series page; it qualifies that figure as achieved under Dreame laboratory conditions. It should not be read as independently certified whole-appliance performance in a home.

The manufacturer lists seven sensors: PM1, PM2.5, PM10, formaldehyde, TVOC, temperature, and humidity. The readings therefore span particulate matter, selected gases, and room conditions, but they do not include CO₂. If carbon-dioxide monitoring is a specific requirement, the PM20’s sensor set does not meet it.
TechRadar’s reviewer said the app registered pollutants from dry shampoo within about 10 seconds. That is one reviewer’s reported observation in a particular use case, not a validated response-time specification. The reviewer also found the pollutant readings and app useful and used the app most often.

- Aesthetic Design: The sleek side-table design perfectly matches pet furniture. The circular ambient light changes color based on air quality—soft and eye-friendly for pets. Optional dot-matrix pet tray for a warm, smart home corner.
Noise: manufacturer figure versus reviewer measurements
Dreame advertises a 32 dB(A) sleep-noise figure on the product page. TechRadar, by contrast, reports measuring 54 dB at the PM20’s lowest fan speed and 67 dB at its highest. These figures should not be combined into a single expected noise level: the available information does not resolve whether the difference comes from operating mode, test conditions, or measurement method. Treat the 32 dB(A) as the manufacturer’s sleep/comfort claim and the other figures as the reviewer’s measurements.
Filter life and replacement cost
Filter life and cost matter because the PM20 uses separate high-efficiency compound and activated-carbon filters. Dreame’s FAQ gives a two-year life for the high-efficiency compound filter and one year for the activated-carbon filter. TechRadar’s 2025 review instead reports replacement intervals of 16–24 months for the composite filter and 6–12 months for carbon. Filter life will depend on use and conditions; neither set of intervals is a guarantee.

What the hands-on review establishes
TechRadar’s reviewer used the PM20 for several weeks in July 2025 in a 105-year-old Texas home, moving it among rooms and trying different settings. They reported no operational issues, praised the pollutant readings and app, and found AI Follow dependable during their use. Those details help explain the product’s practical appeal, but they remain one reviewer’s observations in one home rather than a controlled purifier comparison or independent lab test.
Best Value
- [PRECISE COMPATIBILITY] This replacement filter is engineered for Dreame AirPursue Smart Air Purifier models PM20, PM10, and PM30. Please verify your unit model before purchase. The precision frame provides a secure fit inside the device.
- [COMPLETE FILTER SET] This 2-pack includes high-density pleated mechanical filters with integrated activated carbon layers. Each package contains all components for a standard maintenance cycle.
- [DENSE PLEATED MECHANICAL LAYER] The pleated mechanical layer collects airborne particles including dust, pet dander, and outdoor debris. No chemical coatings are used on any filter surface.
- [ACTIVATED CARBON LAYER] The integrated carbon layer contains porous material that collects coarse particles and everyday household byproducts from indoor air.
- [WILDFIRE SMOKE AND ASH COLLECTION] For areas with seasonal wildfires, the filter layers collect smoke particles, ash, and outdoor soot from incoming air.
TechRadar listed a US price of $999.99 at review time and noted a $769.99 Amazon Prime Day price then. Both are historical 2025 price observations; they should not be treated as current offers.
Who should consider the PM20—and who should look elsewhere
It may fit if you want more than purification
- You want a single appliance that combines air cleaning, directed fan-like airflow, and heating.
- You value app-based pollutant readings and the option for airflow to follow a person.
- You have room for a tall appliance and expect to move it between spaces; the reviewer found its wheels helpful.
It may not fit if your priorities are compactness, price, or CO₂ data
- A small room or limited floor space makes the PM20’s 14.9 × 14.9 × 33.4-inch footprint unattractive.
- You want a basic purifier at a lower purchase or filter-replacement cost.
- You specifically need CO₂ sensing, which is not among the manufacturer’s listed readings.
- You need cooling rather than air movement: the documented modes include heating and fan operation, not mechanical cooling.
For a smaller-space alternative within Dreame’s own line, TechRadar identifies the PM10 sibling with a stated 300 m³/h CADR. That is a lower stated CADR than the PM20’s 400 m³/h, but the available information does not provide a broader independent lab comparison that would establish which model cleans a particular room better in practice.
Verdict: is the Dreame PM20 worth it?
The PM20 makes the most sense for someone who will use its combination of purification, heating, directed airflow, app readings, and person-following enough to justify a large appliance and ongoing filter changes. The reviewer’s positive experience supports the convenience case, while the uncertain current price, reviewer-era filter costs, noise discrepancy, and lack of a CO₂ reading are meaningful trade-offs. If the extra modes and tracking are not important, a more compact purifier may be a better fit than paying for features you will not use.
