What happens when you rest in the Unmoored World?
Resting at an inn or in a house advances the red fog, according to Prima Games’ guide. The fog is the visible pressure behind the Unmoored World’s time limit: as it progresses, it threatens areas of the map. That means a rest for recovery can have a world-level cost, not just move the clock forward.

Prima Games describes the deadline as 12 in-game days, but that is the guide’s reported figure, not a reliably established universal rest allowance. Other search results give different counts. Treat ordinary rests as limited and consequential rather than relying on a fixed number.

Where can you rest without advancing the fog?
Seafloor Shrine bed
Gamer Guides identifies the bed at the Seafloor Shrine as a safe place to rest: its guide says time does not pass there. If you need recovery and are concerned about advancing the fog, this is the reported exception to ordinary inn or house rests. The claim comes from Gamer Guides’ May 22, 2024 update, not an official Capcom explanation of the mechanic.

Ordinary inns and houses
Prima Games says each inn rest advances the fog. Do not assume that a normal bed elsewhere works like the Seafloor Shrine bed; the guides distinguish the shrine location as the safe option.
Can objectives stop the time pressure?
Prima Games reports, citing player reports, that evacuating the cities and destroying all non-final beacons stops the fog’s progression. Its guide also advises delaying activation of the final beacon if you want to explore. This is guide-reported behavior, so it should not be treated as an official guarantee.
For practical planning, consider completing evacuation and non-final beacon objectives before spending rests on optional recovery or exploration. If you still need to rest, use the Seafloor Shrine bed as described by Gamer Guides. Keep the final beacon separate from the non-final objectives: activating it is not presented as necessary to halt the fog.

What happens if the fog takes over?
Prima Games says that if the deadline is missed, the red fog can take over the map and the player must start from scratch. Gamer Guides likewise describes a pseudo time limit and says failure means starting again. In other words, running out of time is a serious failure state for the current attempt, not simply a cue that you can continue exploring under the same conditions.

Limit ordinary rests. Since inn or house rests advance the fog, avoid using them casually while the threat remains active.

Work through evacuations and non-final beacons. Prima Games reports that completing these objectives halts fog progression, based on player reports.

Delay the final beacon if you still want to explore. Prima Games’ guide recommends postponing its activation; the guide-reported halt applies to the non-final beacons and evacuations.
