Dragon’s Dogma 2 PS5 Graphics Settings: Which Options Should You Change? (2026 Guide)

Start with Performance Mode if it appears in your updated PS5 version and responsive combat matters most. Title Update 3.2 reporting from September 2026 says console Performance Mode can reach 60 fps, but that is a ceiling, not a promise that every scene holds 60. Keep Ray Tracing on for richer lighting or switch it off if motion smoothness matters more. Disable Motion Blur when camera movement looks smeared. Choose Max 30fps only when you deliberately want a 30 fps ceiling; otherwise use the available variable or uncapped option.

What changed for PS5 players in 2026?

Dragon’s Dogma 2’s graphics advice has to be split between older setting tests and the current game version. Windows Central reported that Title Update 3.2 launched on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series consoles and PC on September 2, 2026, with console Performance Mode able to reach 60 fps. The report’s detailed maximum-rate discussion is about Xbox, so it should not be treated as a measured or guaranteed PS5 result.

TechRadar had previously reported producer comments that Capcom intended to let console Performance Mode reach 60 fps. That explains the update’s goal, but it is not an independent PS5 benchmark. The current Capcom support FAQ was marked updated October 12, 2026, yet the available FAQ text does not list the graphics menu or define every mode.

Consequently, open the graphics menu on your own installed version after updating. Labels, available modes and behavior can differ between the base PS5 and PS5 Pro, and there is no independently published controlled PS5 measurement in the material available here for Title Update 3.2.

Recommended settings at a glance

Option What is established Best starting choice
Performance Mode Post-Title-Update-3.2 reporting says console Performance Mode can reach 60 fps. It does not establish a locked rate on PS5. Use it when responsiveness is your priority and the mode appears in your menu.
Ray Tracing A 2024 PS5 hands-on report found better frame rate with ray tracing disabled, but flatter lighting, especially indoors and at night. That test predates the 2026 update. Keep on for atmosphere; turn off for the smoothest motion you can obtain.
Motion Blur Patch 1.050 added an independent on/off toggle. The cited test did not establish a separate performance gain. Turn off if movement looks blurry or causes discomfort.
Frame-rate cap Patch 1.050 added Max 30fps alongside Variable (uncapped). A 2024 assessment questioned the cap’s usefulness in demanding scenes and when uncapped output exceeded 30. Leave variable/uncapped unless you specifically prefer a 30 fps ceiling.
PS5 Pro features Capcom announced PSSR and new ray-tracing technology for PS5 Pro, with improved frame rates promised in its PlayStation Blog statement. Current menu behavior is not specified. Check the actual Pro menu rather than assuming it matches base PS5.

How to change the settings

  1. Install the latest update. From the PS5 home screen, highlight Dragon’s Dogma 2, press the Options button and choose Check for Update. Wait for the console to finish downloading and installing the patch before judging performance.
  2. Open the in-game graphics menu. Launch the game, pause, then open Options and the display or graphics section. The exact labels can vary by installed version and console model.
  3. Choose Performance Mode if offered. Confirm the change, then play in a busy settlement or combat encounter rather than relying only on a quiet interior. The reported 60 fps is an attainable ceiling, not a locked-rate guarantee.
  4. Set Ray Tracing according to your priority. Compare the same area with the toggle on and off. Look at interiors, night scenes and reflective or shadowed surfaces, where the 2024 report observed the clearest lighting difference.
  5. Disable Motion Blur if needed. This removes the blur effect during camera movement. Do not expect a documented frame-rate boost from this switch alone.
  6. Select the frame-rate behavior. Use Variable (uncapped) when you want the system to render above 30 fps whenever possible. Select Max 30fps only when a 30 fps ceiling is preferable to variable delivery.
  7. Apply and retest. Walk through the same demanding route, rotate the camera quickly and enter combat. Keep notes on perceived smoothness, image quality and lighting rather than assuming a menu change improved every scene.

Performance Mode: the right first choice for responsive combat

Dragon’s Dogma 2’s fights involve camera turns, enemy attacks and timing-sensitive inputs. A higher or steadier frame rate reduces the perceived delay between an input and the next displayed frame, so Performance Mode is the sensible starting point for players who value responsiveness.

The 2026 report only establishes that console Performance Mode can reach 60 fps. It does not prove that the PS5 version remains at 60 in cities, large battles, particle-heavy encounters or other demanding scenes. If you notice dips, that does not necessarily mean the setting failed; it reflects the difference between a maximum capability and a locked target.

Players who prefer visual detail can compare Performance Mode with the other available mode in their own menu. Because the current PS5 mode definitions were not enumerated in the published material, avoid assuming a specific resolution or image-quality target.

Ray Tracing: lighting depth versus motion smoothness

What you gain with Ray Tracing on

The 2024 PS5 hands-on report described more dimensional lighting with ray tracing enabled. The benefit was particularly visible indoors and at night, where shadows, bounce light and darker environments can look less flat. If atmosphere and lighting realism matter more than maximum smoothness, leave the toggle on and evaluate it in those scenes.

What changes when it is off

The same report observed a better frame rate with ray tracing disabled, accompanied by flatter lighting. That observation is useful for understanding the trade-off, but it is not a current Title Update 3.2 benchmark. The 2026 performance changes may alter the size of the difference on your console.

A practical comparison method

  • Stand in one indoor location and switch the setting without changing the camera angle.
  • Repeat at night outdoors, where the lighting contrast is easiest to notice.
  • Run through a combat encounter and judge camera movement separately from image depth.
  • Keep the option that matches your priority; there is no evidence here for a universally correct choice.

Motion Blur: a comfort and clarity decision

Patch 1.050 added a Motion Blur on/off control on PS5. With it enabled, rapid camera movement blends successive frames, which some players perceive as cinematic and others perceive as smeared. Turning it off gives a clearer view while panning and can reduce discomfort for players sensitive to blur.

The available PS5 test did not isolate a performance improvement from Motion Blur. Treat it as a visual-preference setting, not a frame-rate tweak. If the game still feels uneven after disabling blur, change Performance Mode, Ray Tracing or the frame-rate cap instead.

Variable (uncapped) versus Max 30fps

Variable (uncapped)

Variable (uncapped) allows the game to render above 30 fps when the console and scene permit it. This is the logical choice when you want every available increment of responsiveness, especially alongside Performance Mode.

Max 30fps

Max 30fps imposes a 30 fps ceiling. A 2024 hands-on evaluation questioned its usefulness in demanding scenes and whenever uncapped output was already above 30. That evaluation predates Title Update 3.2, so it cannot describe the current patch with certainty.

  • Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft

When a cap can still make sense

  • Choose Max 30fps if you strongly prefer a consistent 30 fps presentation over fluctuations above and below that level.
  • Use it only after testing your current patch; do not assume the older behavior is unchanged.
  • Do not select it expecting higher resolution or better lighting unless the game’s own menu explicitly says so.

Base PS5 and PS5 Pro: what you can and cannot assume

Capcom’s PlayStation Blog statement, attributed to Capcom USA Social Media & Community Manager Joseph Bustos, said Dragon’s Dogma 2 would benefit from PS5 Pro power, PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) and new ray-tracing technology, “allowing improved framerates.” This confirms intended Pro enhancements, but it does not document the current Pro graphics menu, resolution targets, frame-rate limits or scene-by-scene results.

Do not copy a base-PS5 recommendation onto PS5 Pro automatically. After updating, inspect the Pro’s graphics options and test the same locations you use on the base console. If a Pro-specific mode appears, record its exact label before comparing it with Performance Mode or ray tracing choices.

Decision guide for common priorities

Your priority Settings to try first What to watch for
Fast camera response and combat timing Performance Mode, Ray Tracing off, Motion Blur off, Variable (uncapped) Frame-rate fluctuations in cities and large fights; 60 fps is not guaranteed.
Atmospheric interiors and night scenes Performance Mode if available, Ray Tracing on, Motion Blur according to comfort Whether lighting depth is worth any motion compromise on your display.
Less visual smear Motion Blur off; then compare Performance Mode choices Clarity during rapid camera turns, not an assumed performance gain.
A strict 30 fps ceiling Max 30fps Whether the current patch feels more consistent than variable output.

Troubleshooting after changing options

The 60 fps expectation is not met

Confirm that Title Update 3.2 installed and that Performance Mode is selected. Test more than one location, including a populated area and combat. The published evidence supports a ceiling, not a locked PS5 rate, so dips alone do not prove a configuration error.

Lighting looks suddenly flat

Check Ray Tracing first. The older PS5 report specifically associated disabling it with flatter lighting, most noticeably indoors and at night. Re-enable it if that visual loss outweighs the motion benefit.

The camera still looks smeared

Verify Motion Blur is off, then retest with deliberate camera pans. If blur remains, distinguish blur from ordinary frame-rate judder; changing the cap or Performance Mode addresses delivery behavior, not the blur filter itself.

The menu does not match this guide

Record your console model and installed game version. The current support FAQ does not enumerate every graphics control, and the evidence does not establish identical labels for base PS5 and PS5 Pro. Use the options actually shown by your updated installation rather than forcing an absent setting.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

A sensible final setup

For most players who want responsive exploration and combat, begin with Performance Mode, Motion Blur off and Variable (uncapped). Test Ray Tracing both ways in an indoor or nighttime area. Keep it on if the lighting improvement is important; turn it off if the smoother presentation is more valuable. If you dislike variable delivery and prefer a hard ceiling, test Max 30fps, remembering that the available evaluation of that option is from 2024.

Recheck the menu after major patches and on PS5 Pro. Current published material does not provide a controlled post-Update-3.2 PS5 benchmark, so your console’s installed version and the scenes you play remain the decisive reference.
