To improve Dragon’s Dogma 2 performance, first match the game’s settings to your hardware, then use the current console performance options rather than launch-era advice. On PC, Capcom’s supported recovery step is to reset the configuration file when settings exceed your computer’s capability. On consoles, Title Update 3.2 added or changed graphics choices: Windows Central reports a maximum target of 60 fps on Xbox Series X and 45 fps on Xbox Series S with FSR upscaling, while the faster mode reduces image quality. Those are targets, not guarantees of a locked frame rate in every scene.
Exact option names can differ by platform and update build, so use the graphics menu currently shown on your system. The practical goal is consistent frame pacing at a visual quality you can accept—not blindly selecting every “high” option.

What changed with Dragon’s Dogma 2 Title Update 3.2
Title Update 3.2 was reported as released on September 2, 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Current reporting describes updated PC requirements and new or changed console graphics choices. That matters because launch-era guides often say the console version has no performance mode; that is no longer a safe description of the current game.

PC: the safest way to raise FPS
Start with your actual hardware
Capcom warns in its current Steam FAQ that “The game may not run properly if the in-game graphics settings are higher than your PC specs.” Compare your CPU, GPU, system memory and display resolution with the requirements shown for the current PC build before chasing individual settings. Capcom’s support article points to the Steam Store page for those requirements, but it does not reproduce a complete current component list in the support text.
There is no evidence-based universal “best” preset for every PC. A setting that is comfortable on one machine can be too demanding on another, particularly when the processor is limiting busy settlements or large fights while the graphics card still has headroom. Do not treat a single internet preset or a launch-period benchmark as a guaranteed result for the post-3.2 build.
Reset a configuration that is too demanding
If the game became unstable, refuses to launch, or remains stuck with settings above your hardware’s capability, use Capcom’s documented reset procedure. This returns the configuration to the default file; it does not automatically create a tuned high-FPS profile.

- Close Dragon’s Dogma 2 completely.
- Open Steam Library and right-click Dragon’s Dogma 2.
- Select Properties, then open Installed Files.
- Find
config.iniand rename it toconfig_backup.ini. - Make a copy of
config_default.iniand rename the copy toconfig.ini. - Launch the game and set options again, staying within the capability of your system.
These are the steps in Capcom’s Steam FAQ. Keep the backup until you know the reset solved the problem. If it did not, restore the backup only after closing the game again so you can distinguish a damaged configuration from a setting that is simply too ambitious.
Use a controlled tuning pass
After a reset, change one group of options at a time. Record your resolution, the frame-rate target you want and the location or activity where slowdowns are easiest to notice. Test in the same location after each change; otherwise, a quieter scene can make a setting appear to have helped when the workload merely changed.
- Begin with the resolution and overall quality level that the game selects safely for your hardware.
- Lower settings that push the system beyond its current requirements instead of raising every option until performance fails.
- If the menu exposes ray tracing, turn it off as an A/B test when you need more rendering headroom. The supplied evidence does not establish a universal FPS gain or a fixed cost for this setting, so measure your own repeatable scene.
- If the game offers a frame-rate limit, choose a ceiling your hardware can sustain rather than one it reaches only in empty areas. A stable lower ceiling can feel smoother than a fluctuating higher number.
- Recheck image quality after every change. A lower resolution or aggressive upscaling setting can improve motion performance while making fine detail softer.
Do not assume a new graphics card, storage drive, cooling accessory or driver utility will solve every slowdown. Without a component-matched test, an upgrade may leave a processor-limited scene unchanged. Identify whether the GPU is saturated, the CPU is overloaded or the game is stalling for another reason before spending money.

- A Grand Adventure – Dragon’s Dogma 2 begins in a subterranean jail, where the Dragon’s voice echoes in the fog of lost memories. With their heart taken by the Dragon, the Arisen is set on a path to slay that symbol of the world’s destruction as it soars through the sky on massive wings, breathing flames that scorch everything in its path. With the Arisen’s future veiled in mystery, what challenges and triumphs await on the path to their destiny?
- Single-Player Cooperation – Up to three mysterious otherworldly beings, known as Pawns, accompany the Arisen throughout their journey. Pawns create the feeling of a cooperative gameplay experience by offering unique characteristics, skills, and knowledge gained from their experiences with other Arisen.

Console settings after Update 3.2
The current console choices are a tradeoff between frame rate and image quality. Windows Central’s September 2, 2026 report gives the following platform-specific targets. They describe the update as reported, not an independent guarantee that the game will hold those rates in every location.
| Platform | Reported maximum target | Image-quality behavior | Ray tracing information |
|---|---|---|---|
| PlayStation 5 | Not stated in the reviewed sources | Current graphics/performance choices are reported, but the sources do not establish a matched target or resolution for each mode. | Specific availability and performance impact were not established. |
| Xbox Series X | 60 fps maximum target, reported with FSR upscaling | Windows Central’s writer briefly observed 30 fps and 60 fps choices; the faster choice reduced resolution quality. Actual rate can vary by scene. | Use the current in-game menu; the reviewed Xbox FAQ does not give a measured FPS difference. |
| Xbox Series S | 45 fps maximum target, reported with FSR upscaling | The target is lower than Series X’s reported ceiling and may vary by scene. | Ray tracing is unavailable on Series S, according to Capcom. |
The Xbox figures come from Windows Central’s September 2, 2026 report. The 30-versus-60 observation is the writer’s brief hands-on report, not a controlled benchmark. No supplied source establishes a universal performance winner between PS5 and Xbox Series X under identical settings.
How to choose a console mode
- Install the current game update and restart the console if the graphics choices do not appear.
- Open the game’s Options or Settings menu and enter the graphics or display section. Read the labels shown on your platform rather than relying on a launch-era guide.
- Choose the performance-oriented option when responsiveness is more important than maximum resolution.
- Choose the quality or graphics-oriented option when sharper image quality matters more and you can accept a lower frame-rate target.
- Play the same demanding area for several minutes. Crowded settlements, combat with many effects and traversal through busy environments are more informative than a quiet menu or empty field.
On Xbox Series X, the reported 60-fps choice is not a promise of 60 fps everywhere; it is the update’s stated maximum target as reported by Windows Central. On Series S, the reported 45-fps ceiling should likewise be treated as a target, not a locked-rate guarantee.
Ray tracing: should you disable it?
Ray tracing increases rendering work, so disabling it is a sensible troubleshooting test on a platform that actually exposes the option. Compare the same scene with the feature on and off, then keep the setting that meets your frame-time goal. The available evidence does not provide a current, controlled FPS delta, so claims such as “turning it off always adds 20 fps” would be unjustified.
Do not look for a ray-tracing switch on Xbox Series S. Capcom’s Xbox Series X|S FAQ says the feature is not available on that console, meaning there is nothing to disable. For platform-specific menu details, consult Capcom’s Xbox Series X|S FAQ and the options currently displayed in-game.
Fixes for common performance symptoms
The game will not launch or settings keep reverting
On PC, close the game and perform the config.ini reset above. This is the supported way to replace an over-demanding or problematic configuration. Reapply settings gradually instead of restoring every previous value at once.

FPS is acceptable in the open world but collapses in towns
That pattern points to a scene-dependent workload rather than a universal display problem. Lower the options that increase overall rendering or scene complexity, then test in the same town. Avoid claiming that one particular setting is always the bottleneck: the supplied material contains no controlled per-setting measurements for the current build.
The picture is smoother but too soft
On Xbox Series X, Windows Central specifically reported lower resolution quality in the faster choice. If the image is too soft, move back toward the quality-oriented option or raise image-quality settings one step at a time until you find an acceptable compromise. On PC, check resolution and any upscaling control together; changing both at once makes the cause difficult to identify.
There is no performance option on the console
Confirm that Title Update 3.2 is installed, restart the game and inspect the current graphics menu. Exact labels are not independently confirmed in the available official update notes, so a guide written for an earlier build may use names that no longer match your screen. If the option still does not appear, use the support page for your platform: Capcom’s PlayStation 5 FAQ or the Xbox Series X|S FAQ.
What the Switch 2 statement does—and does not—tell you
Switch 2 is outside the PC, PS5 and Xbox settings covered above. In an interview published July 16, 2026, TechRadar attributed a pre-release statement to producer Naoto Oyama: the version was reaching at least 30 fps and higher rates in many scenes during development. The same interview described planned console performance improvements before the August update.
Those comments establish development targets and chronology, not post-launch measurements. They predate the reported September 2 Title Update 3.2 release and the Switch 2 launch period, so do not use them as proof of a current, locked frame rate. The interview is available at TechRadar.
Quick Recap
A practical settings checklist
- Confirm your platform and install the current update.
- On PC, compare your components with the current requirements before selecting demanding settings.
- If PC settings are too high or the game is unstable, reset
config.iniusing Capcom’s documented procedure. - Change one setting group at a time and test the same demanding scene.
- On consoles, choose between performance and quality according to whether motion consistency or image sharpness matters more.
- Treat 60 fps on Series X and 45 fps on Series S as reported maximum targets, not locked guarantees.
- Do not search for ray tracing controls on Series S; Capcom says the feature is unavailable there.
- Keep launch-era claims and pre-release Switch 2 statements separate from current post-update measurements.
