A Pawn Quest is a request attached to your Main Pawn for another player to complete while that Pawn is hired. You choose the task—typically earning a Pawn Badge or acquiring an item—and provide a reward in gold or another item. The setting is separate from choosing a priority quest for your own party and from the blue, orange, and hourglass quest markers.
What a Pawn Quest actually does
Your Main Pawn carries the request into another player’s game. When that player hires the Pawn, they can complete the specified task and return the Pawn with the result. The reward you selected is the payment for that completed request; it is not a reward for your own Arisen completing a quest.

Guide walkthroughs describe two main request types:
Recommended Free Tools
- Earn a Pawn Badge: ask the hiring player to help the Pawn earn a monster or field badge.
- Acquire Item: ask the hiring player to obtain a specified item for the Pawn’s quest.
The available request, target, quantity, and menu wording can vary with the game’s current state. The setup labels below are reported by the Dot Esports walkthrough dated March 22, 2024, so check the text shown on your screen if a later update presents it differently.
#1 Best Overall
- A Grand Adventure – Dragon’s Dogma 2 begins in a subterranean jail, where the Dragon’s voice echoes in the fog of lost memories.
- Single-Player Cooperation – Up to three mysterious otherworldly beings, known as Pawns, accompany the Arisen throughout their journey.
- Made with RE ENGINE – Capcom’s advanced RE ENGINE produces vividly detailed, high fidelity graphics combined with immersive physics and complex and reactive character AI to create a setting where decisions, and their consequences, come to life.

When the setting becomes available
Prima Games reports that the game initially presents a default, travel-related Pawn Quest. A hiring player must travel with your Main Pawn for the specified day or night period before custom requests become available. The source does not establish one universal duration in hours, so do not treat an exact time quoted elsewhere as a guaranteed requirement.
After the initial requirement, rest at an inn or at a home so the game can synchronize the Pawn’s latest return information. The same rest-and-return flow is also used to receive a report after another player has hired your Pawn.
How to set a custom Pawn Quest
The following sequence is the guide-reported flow. You can start it from a Riftstone or from the interaction that appears when your Main Pawn returns after resting.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Open the Pawn-quest interaction. Interact with a Riftstone; the Dot Esports guide describes interacting with it again to reach the relevant menu. Alternatively, rest at an inn or home and use the returning-Pawn prompt when it appears.
- Choose “Set a Pawn Quest.” If that option is missing, see the troubleshooting section below rather than selecting a similarly named quest command.
- Select the request type. Choose “Earn a Pawn Badge” or “Acquire Item,” depending on what you want the hiring player to do.
- Choose the target and quantity. For a badge request, select the applicable badge target if the menu offers one. For an item request, select the item and the required quantity shown by the game.
- Select the reward type. The guide lists gold or an item as the reward choices.
- Set the amount or item quantity. Confirm the gold amount or the number of reward items offered to the hiring player.
- Review your inventory and confirm. Make sure the selected request item and the promised reward are available before accepting the setting. Confirm only after checking the quantities displayed by the game.
- Rest again after the Pawn returns. A rest at an inn or home lets the game update the report for the completed or attempted request.
The official Capcom FAQ explains quest-information markers, but it does not document this custom-request procedure. Treat the menu sequence as a guide-reported procedure and follow the labels in your current game version.

- A Grand Adventure – Dragon’s Dogma 2 begins in a subterranean jail, where the Dragon’s voice echoes in the fog of lost memories. With their heart taken by the Dragon, the Arisen is set on a path to slay that symbol of the world’s destruction as it soars through the sky on massive wings, breathing flames that scorch everything in its path. With the Arisen’s future veiled in mystery, what challenges and triumphs await on the path to their destiny?
- Single-Player Cooperation – Up to three mysterious otherworldly beings, known as Pawns, accompany the Arisen throughout their journey. Pawns create the feeling of a cooperative gameplay experience by offering unique characteristics, skills, and knowledge gained from their experiences with other Arisen.
- Made with RE ENGINE – Capcom’s advanced RE ENGINE produces vividly detailed, high fidelity graphics combined with immersive physics and complex and reactive character AI to create a setting where decisions, and their consequences, come to life.
Rewards, inventory commitments, and replacing a quest
A Pawn Quest is not free of consequences for the owner. The reward is an inventory commitment: the Dot Esports guide reports that the offered reward is spent when another player fulfills the request. Before confirming, check that you can spare the promised gold or item rather than treating the reward as a suggestion.
The same guide warns that replacing a previous Pawn Quest can cause you to lose an unclaimed reward from that earlier quest. In practical terms, collect or record the returning report before changing the request if you care about the earlier payout. Do not overwrite a quest simply to change its wording or target until you have checked whether a reward is waiting.
No separate configuration fee is established by the cited guides. The documented cost is the reward you commit and, where applicable, the requested item or quantity selected in the setup screen.

Pawn Quest versus priority quest and pawn knowledge
These systems are easy to confuse because both involve Pawns and quest indicators, but they serve opposite directions of play.
Rank #3
- The deep, explorable fantasy world of Dragon's Dogma... Dragon's Dogma is a narrative-driven, single-player action RPG that challenges players to shape their own experience—from the appearance of their Arisen, their vocation, and their party, to how they approach various situations and much more.
| Feature | Who acts | Purpose | What changes hands | Where it is managed |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pawn Quest | Another player who hires your Main Pawn | Complete the request attached to your Pawn | The reward you offered when the request is fulfilled | Riftstone or the Main Pawn’s return flow, according to guide walkthroughs |
| Priority quest and pawn knowledge | Your Main Pawn and hired support Pawns in your party | Offer hints or lead you toward the quest you selected | No Pawn Quest reward transaction | Your quest selection and the Pawn-related quest information shown in game |
To use pawn knowledge, mark a quest as your priority in the Quest menu. A Pawn that has relevant knowledge may point out the destination or provide advice while it is in your party. This does not create a request for another player and does not spend the reward attached to a Pawn Quest.
What the quest markers and hand symbols mean
Capcom’s official Dragon’s Dogma 2 PlayStation 5 FAQ defines the markers as information about quests in the Arisen’s quest list:
| Marker | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Hourglass | “An hourglass marker indicates that the quest is available for a limited time only.” |
| Blue | “A blue marker indicates that your Main Pawn can lead you on this quest or have some useful information.” |
| Orange “I” | “An orange marker with ‘I’ indicates that your first support pawn can lead you on this quest or have some useful information.” |
| Orange “II” | “An orange marker with ‘II’ indicates that your second pawn can lead you on this quest or have some useful information.” |
These symbols do not show that you have posted a custom Pawn Quest. They show which Pawn has information about your own quest and, in the hourglass case, that the quest has a time limit. A marker can therefore appear even when you have never configured a Pawn Quest for other players.
Why badges improve a Pawn’s usefulness
Capcom’s official web manual says, “Pawns with badges are more helpful to the Arisen in word and in deed.” The manual describes two relevant categories:
Rank #4
- This is Korean Version released by SIEK. Region free title so you can play it on your system.
- Korean Edition supports Multi language Subtitles: English, Japanese, Chinese, Korean
- Dragon's Dogma is a single-player, narrative-driven action-RPG that challenges players to choose their own experience – from the appearance of their Arisen, their vocation, their party, how to approach different situations, and more.
- On your journey, you’ll be joined by Pawns, mysterious otherworldly beings, in an adventure so unique you will feel as if accompanied by other players while on your own adventure.
- All of these elements are elevated further by the latest in graphics, artificial intelligence (AI), and physics technology to create a truly immersive fantasy world in Dragon's Dogma 2.
- Monster badges: earned after defeating a certain number of a particular monster type.
- Field badges: earned after camping sufficiently in a region.
The available badge target and the threshold required for a specific badge are determined by the game; the cited material does not establish one universal number for every badge. A badge-oriented Pawn Quest therefore asks another player to perform activity that advances the selected badge rather than asking them to finish one of your Arisen’s story or side quests.

“Set a Pawn Quest” is not listed
- Check whether your Main Pawn has completed the initial travel-related request. Prima Games reports that custom requests become available only after the specified day/night travel period.
- Rest at an inn or home, then check the returning-Pawn interaction again.
- Use a Riftstone and inspect the menu carefully; the custom setting may be reached through a second interaction according to the Dot Esports walkthrough.
- If the wording still differs, follow the current on-screen menu rather than assuming a guide’s 2024 label is unchanged.
The game will not let you confirm the request
- Verify that the requested item, target quantity, and promised reward are available as selected.
- Reduce the quantity or change the reward to an item or gold amount you actually possess.
- Check that you are editing the Main Pawn’s request, not trying to alter a support Pawn’s quest knowledge.
A previous reward disappeared after changing the quest
The Dot Esports guide warns that replacing a quest can cost an unclaimed earlier reward. Rest and inspect the returning-Pawn report before replacing the request again. If the reward was already overwritten, the cited material does not provide a recovery method.
No completion report appears
- Rest at an inn or home to trigger the Pawn return and synchronization flow.
- Remember that another player must actually hire the Pawn and complete the request; setting a request alone does not complete it.
- Allow for the requested day/night travel period or task to finish before expecting a result.
A marker looks like a Pawn Quest symbol
Read the marker’s color and label. Blue identifies Main Pawn knowledge, orange “I” and “II” identify the first and second support Pawns, and an hourglass identifies a limited-time quest. None of those symbols is the reward-and-request menu.

Use a badge request when you want long-term utility
A badge request can improve the knowledge your Main Pawn brings to future parties. It is most suitable when you want another player to work on a monster or regional badge and you can offer a reward without risking an item you need immediately.
Best Value
- Relic Expedition Cycle – Throughout their journey in the kingdom of Norgan, the Arisen must unearth and appraise forgotten relics to unlock powerful new weapons and skills.
- New Dungeon Challenges – The 12 freshly uncovered Lost Rites dungeons house trials designed by the Pathfinder to sharpen the Arisen’s skills and recover rare equipment once held by past Arisen that now lay dormant.
- Deeper Character Customization – New tattoo and hair options have been added to the already robust character creation tool in Dragon’s Dogma 2 so Arisen and Pawns can have even deeper personalization.
- Now on Nintendo Switch 2 – Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen brings the classic fantasy world of Dragon’s Dogma 2 and the Dark Arisen Expansion to the Nintendo Switch 2 for the first time.
- Pre-order Bonuses – The Norgan Fashion Set - Northern Attire will be available as a pre-order bonus, which can be accessed via in-game storage at launch.
Use an item request when the item matters more than badge progress
An item request is the direct choice when you need a specified item and quantity returned through the Pawn system. Confirm the exact item name and quantity in the menu; similar names or stack sizes can make an apparently generous reward unsuitable for the actual request.
Match the reward to the commitment
Because the reward is spent when the request is fulfilled, choose an amount you can permanently spare. Avoid committing a unique or urgently needed item, and record what you offered if you regularly replace requests so an earlier unclaimed payout is not forgotten.
What the evidence does and does not establish
The cited sources do not provide a completion-rate statistic, average reward value, or evidence that one request type is more successful than another. They also do not establish a single exact travel duration for unlocking custom requests across every version or platform. The safest approach is to use the in-game labels, keep the reward in your inventory, and verify the returning report after resting.
