There is no verified official ranking of the Unmoored World’s hardest bosses, and detailed current tactics for every encounter are not established. For demanding fights, prepare around your party, the terrain and the enemy’s strengths; then watch for attack cues instead of assuming every variant behaves the same. The advice below focuses on the Dullahan and dragon-type encounters, where source material supports specific enemy descriptions and combat mechanics.
Prepare for the encounter, not a supposed ranking
PlayStation’s official Dragon’s Dogma 2 page advises considering party setup, terrain and enemy strengths before taking on a fight. In practice, that means checking whether your group can handle close-range pressure, whether the battlefield gives you room to reposition, and whether your party can contribute damage or support when a target is difficult to reach.

Those checks are a preparation framework, not a promise that a particular party composition counters every boss. The available sources do not verify a complete, patch-specific strategy for each Unmoored World encounter, including Dullahans, Gorechimeras and Lesser Dragons. Treat the examples below as demanding encounter types to plan for, not a definitive hardest-to-easiest list.
Facing a Dullahan
PlayStation describes the Dullahan as a knight covered in spiritual flames, using deadly swordplay and able to become black mist in darkness. That description suggests a fight built around close-range threat and environmental awareness; it does not establish a complete move list or a guaranteed counter.
#1 Best Overall
- A Grand Adventure – Dragon’s Dogma 2 begins in a subterranean jail, where the Dragon’s voice echoes in the fog of lost memories.
- Single-Player Cooperation – Up to three mysterious otherworldly beings, known as Pawns, accompany the Arisen throughout their journey.
- Made with RE ENGINE – Capcom’s advanced RE ENGINE produces vividly detailed, high fidelity graphics combined with immersive physics and complex and reactive character AI to create a setting where decisions, and their consequences, come to life.
- Pre-order Bonus: Superior Weapons Quartet
- Keep track of space. Avoid letting close-range pressure leave the party with no room to reposition. Use the terrain with your party setup in mind.
- Stay alert when visibility changes. Because the Dullahan can become black mist in darkness, watch its position and be ready to respond rather than committing blindly to an attack.
- Bring complementary roles. As a practical inference from its sword-focused description, consider a party that can sustain close-range pressure while still providing damage or support from other positions.
Use climbing and clinging opportunities against large foes
Capcom’s online manual describes a way to cling to larger enemies: contact the foe in mid-air while holding the cling control. It also says dashing before jumping and clinging may knock the enemy off balance. The manual’s page was not accessible for direct verification, so consult it for the control assignment on your platform; controls can be remapped.
- Check the manual for your platform’s cling control.
- Close the distance and jump so you make contact with the large foe in mid-air while holding that control.
- If you have room to dash first, try dashing before the jump; the manual says this may knock the enemy off balance.
Clinging is an option supported by the manual, not a guaranteed opening or a universal answer to every large enemy. Use it when the position and timing make sense, and remain attentive to the foe’s response.
Rank #2
- A Grand Adventure – Dragon’s Dogma 2 begins in a subterranean jail, where the Dragon’s voice echoes in the fog of lost memories. With their heart taken by the Dragon, the Arisen is set on a path to slay that symbol of the world’s destruction as it soars through the sky on massive wings, breathing flames that scorch everything in its path. With the Arisen’s future veiled in mystery, what challenges and triumphs await on the path to their destiny?
- Single-Player Cooperation – Up to three mysterious otherworldly beings, known as Pawns, accompany the Arisen throughout their journey. Pawns create the feeling of a cooperative gameplay experience by offering unique characteristics, skills, and knowledge gained from their experiences with other Arisen.
- Made with RE ENGINE – Capcom’s advanced RE ENGINE produces vividly detailed, high fidelity graphics combined with immersive physics and complex and reactive character AI to create a setting where decisions, and their consequences, come to life.
Read dragon cues before committing to an attack
GameSpot’s dragon guide, published March 25, 2024, describes different visible weak points: a green dragon’s chest heart pulses, while red dragons have pustulent growths across their bodies. Look at the specific enemy and target the weak point you can identify rather than assuming every dragon variant shares the same anatomy or behavior. The guide also describes ground pounds and flame breath, plus venomous breath from red dragons. A blue-pulsing chest is associated with lightning strikes, while a red-pulsing chest is associated with explosions. These are useful cues to watch for, not a guaranteed move list for every Unmoored World boss variant.

Choose a vocation for the role you want to play
GameSpot names Thief, Sorcerer, Magick Archer, Mystic Spearhand and Warfarer as options for different damage or defensive approaches. Its guidance does not establish one best vocation for every player, party or dragon encounter. Choose based on how you want to contribute and what the rest of your party can provide.
| Vocation | Practical role to consider | Trade-off to weigh |
|---|---|---|
| Thief | Repeated attacks when you can reach a weak point. | Value depends on getting close and maintaining access to the target. |
| Sorcerer | High-damage spells. | Consider whether the party can support your approach while you cast. |
| Magick Archer | Damage from a different attacking position. | Fit it to your familiarity and the rest of the party’s capabilities. |
| Mystic Spearhand | A defensive approach that can help protect the party. | Weigh party protection against the damage role you otherwise need. |
| Warfarer | A flexible option when you want to adapt your approach. | Its usefulness depends on how you choose to build and play it. |
The role descriptions above are practical comparisons drawn from GameSpot’s vocation guidance, not results from a controlled test. Familiarity with your vocation and the needs of the party matter more than treating this list as a ranking.
What dragon victories can provide
GameSpot’s 2024 guide says dragons drop Wyrmslife Crystals, which can be used for progression and for Dragonforged purchases or enhancements. It reports 10–20 crystals for a dragon kill; that is a secondary guide’s figure from 2024, not a Capcom statistic or a guarantee for every encounter, and the amount may vary by enemy or game version.
