What does “new skills” mean in Dark Arisen?
Capcom describes two related but distinct changes. The paid expansion adds relic progression: players can find and appraise relics, and evaluated relic weapons and armor can grant new abilities or improve abilities already available to the Arisen and main Pawn. Separately, a free update for the base game expands the choice of weapon skills players can assign. Capcom’s preview does not identify which individual abilities belong to which change.

The official PlayStation Store listing describes the expansion’s new story in Norgan, a snowy northern region, and also advertises 12 dungeon challenges, plus additional hairstyles and tattoos. Its summary says relics can unlock weapons and skills. That establishes a broader set of progression and customization features, not a complete list of skills for each vocation.
Are all 10 base-game vocations getting a refresh?
That remains unconfirmed. Capcom has not provided a complete list tying new or improved abilities to every base-game vocation, nor does its preview specify which vocations can use each relic reward. The available information supports saying that some abilities may be new and some existing abilities may be improved; it does not establish that every vocation gets either kind of change.

Until Capcom publishes a full breakdown or the released content can be verified directly, “all 10 vocations are fresh again” is a stronger claim than the evidence allows. The confirmed update to assignable weapon-skill choices is also not proof that each vocation receives a new skill.

The sources do not say whether a specific relic ability can also be acquired through the free update. Treat the free skill-choice expansion and the expansion’s relic system as separate features unless Capcom provides a more specific breakdown.

Does Dark Arisen require Dragon’s Dogma 2?
Yes. The official US PlayStation Store listing says the expansion cannot be used without Dragon’s Dogma 2. Buying the expansion should not be mistaken for buying the base game or a bundle that includes it.
When is it out, and what platforms are announced?
Capcom’s June 10, 2026 announcement schedules Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen for October 9, 2026. The announcement names Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Capcom says the Switch 2 package combines the main game and expansion; Capcom France also describes a combined package for the other announced platforms. At the time the US PlayStation Store listing was accessed on October 7, 2026, it showed a $29.99 pre-order price for the expansion. That is a dated US storefront price, not a guaranteed price in other regions or at a later date.

The announced changes could give players more ways to build characters: relics may add abilities or strengthen ones they already know, while the free update widens the base game’s choice of assignable weapon skills. But without a published vocation-by-vocation skill list or post-release verification, it is not possible to say which vocations gain what, whether the changes alter vocation balance, or whether all 10 feel meaningfully different. Capcom reported that the Dragon’s Dogma series had sold more than 14 million units cumulatively as of March 31, 2026; that figure applies to the series, not to Dragon’s Dogma 2 alone.
