Choose XI S if you want a companion-led story and presentation options
XI S follows the Luminary, a young hero whose journey brings him together with companions as they confront threats to Erdrea. Its story framing makes it the more natural fit if you want an adventure centered on a group rather than a single hero’s quest.

What the Definitive Edition adds
The edition includes character-specific scenarios, a 2D graphics mode, Japanese voice audio, and a choice between original and orchestral music. Those options make XI S appealing if you value alternate ways to experience the presentation or want additional character-focused material. They do not, by themselves, prove that XI S is longer, easier, or mechanically superior to III.

Turn-based battles with convenience settings
The remake keeps traditional turn-based combat and adds adjustable battle speed and auto-battle. Those are practical options if you prefer to control the pace of encounters or let routine battles play out with less input. The official product description establishes these features, but does not support a claim that the game is easier overall than XI S.
