To download a movie to a Kindle Fire, open the Prime Video app, find the movie, open its detail page, and tap Download if that option appears. Once the download finishes, play the movie in Prime Video when you’re offline. Amazon now generally calls these devices Fire tablets, but the basic steps answer the same question for Kindle Fire owners.
Download a movie with Prime Video

Connect your Fire tablet to Wi-Fi and open the Prime Video app.

Search for the movie and open its detail page.

Tap Download if the option is available for that title.

Wait for the download to complete. Then open the Prime Video app and play the saved movie without an internet connection.

Amazon’s Prime Video download help confirms Fire tablets are supported for offline downloads and directs users to the title’s detail page. The exact name or location of the downloaded-titles section can vary by app version.
Why a movie may not have a Download option
Not every movie is available to download. If the detail page has no download control, you cannot save that title through the Prime Video download route. Amazon’s cited help page does not list every eligibility restriction, so availability must be checked title by title.

Use Netflix if the movie is there
If you watch the movie through Netflix instead, Netflix supports downloads on Fire tablets running Fire OS 7 or later. Open an eligible title in the Netflix app and use its download option. A title without a download icon cannot be downloaded.

Check storage and solve download problems

No download option: Check whether that exact title offers downloads in the service you use. For Netflix, the absence of a download icon means the title is unavailable for download.

Considering a microSD card: Amazon’s cited help explains that Android and Windows Prime Video apps can offer a download-location choice, but it does not confirm that every Fire tablet can store Prime Video downloads on microSD. Check the setting on your exact tablet rather than assuming it is supported. Amazon also does not recommend saving downloads to USB-connected drives.

Wondering how long downloads last: The current official help pages cited here do not establish a universal expiration period or rental window for Prime Video offline downloads. Don’t rely on a fixed number of days; check the title and app for its current status.
