To save your own Facebook photos, start with Meta’s Download Your Information tool in Accounts Center. It can export all your information or selected categories and date ranges, but Meta’s published guidance does not establish a universal one-click ZIP for a single album. If you need one album in one archive, a browser extension may offer that convenience for albums you can already view; it is a third-party option, not a Meta feature.
Use Meta’s official export for your Facebook information
Meta moved Download Your Information and Access Your Information into Accounts Center. Meta said people can request Facebook and Instagram information together or separately in its October 17, 2023 announcement. The exact menu labels and placement can change, so check the current Facebook settings if the path below differs.

- Open Facebook and go to Settings & privacy, then Settings.
- Open Accounts Center and look for Your information and permissions or the current Download Your Information control.
- Choose the option to download your information, select Facebook if asked which account, and choose all information or the relevant categories and date range.
- Submit the request and, when the export is ready, download the archive offered by Facebook.
Meta’s Help Centre explains that the tool supports all information or selected categories and date ranges, and that controls may also be reachable through Facebook settings: Access or download information about your activity in Facebook groups. That page points to the broader export tool; it is not a detailed album-export manual.
What the official download does—and does not promise
The official route is for a copy of Facebook information, not a documented promise of one ZIP per album. Meta Engineering described Download Your Information as a way for people to access “a secure copy of the data they have shared with Facebook” in a December 2, 2019 article. Once you receive the export, open the archive and locate the photos you need; folder names and archive layout are not established as universal.

Do not assume the export is complete just because a ZIP downloaded. Check the extracted files against the album you intended to save.
When a browser extension may help with one album
Some Chrome Web Store extensions advertise downloading viewable Facebook albums as individual image files or as a single ZIP. For example, the developer listing for Facebook Album Download Kit says it supports ZIP output, quality choices and in-browser processing, and says it only works for albums the signed-in user can already open. These are developer claims, not an independent security audit or a firsthand performance test. A different listing, FB Photos Downloader, also describes ordered album downloads and says it is independent of Meta; do not assume its features or privacy practices apply to other extensions.

Check before installing
- Confirm the developer identity and review the extension’s update history.
- Read the requested permissions and privacy disclosure. Decide whether the access requested makes sense for its stated function.
- Check that the listing explicitly describes the output you want, such as one ZIP rather than separate files.
- Use it only for albums your signed-in account can already view. Avoid tools that claim to bypass privacy settings or access controls.
An extension’s listing is evidence of what its developer claims, not proof that the tool is safe, complete, or still works. If you are not comfortable with the permissions or data handling, use Meta’s official export instead.

- Make sure the ZIP opens and extract it to a folder you can find.
- Open several images from different parts of the album to check that the files are readable.
- Compare the extracted images with the album’s displayed contents and count. A successful download alone does not confirm that every intended photo is present.
- If the photos matter, keep another copy in a separate location.
Respect album access and protect photos before deleting an account
Downloading should not be used to get around another person’s album privacy. Meta defines automated collection as scraping and says unauthorized scraping may violate its terms and lead to enforcement: Data scraping and what can you do to protect your information on Facebook.

If you plan to delete your Facebook account, download and check your copy first. Meta warns that photos and other material added to the account cannot be retrieved after deletion: Permanently delete your Facebook account.
