The reported incident took place at the team’s bootcamp on October 15, 2026, hours before Xipto was due to enter a DreamLeague Season 30 qualifier.
What reportedly happened at the Xipto Esports bootcamp
According to 23savage’s account, officers entered Xipto Esports’ Kuala Lumpur training facility after a practice session. The officers allegedly confiscated the players’ passports and phones, disconnected the internet, shut down the computers and handcuffed 23savage with teammates Saieful “Fbz” Ilham and Chon Kien “Oli” Chan.

23savage said the questioning lasted about two hours. The officers were reportedly trying to establish whether the people inside the facility were real professional gamers rather than individuals involved in another activity. No police statement confirming the operation’s purpose, the officers’ authority or any suspected offence was publicly reported.
Why police asked 23savage to play Dota 2
The unusual identity check followed a conversation in which one officer recognized Dota 2. The officer also recognized Malaysian public figure Ms Puiyi in a photograph on 23savage’s Instagram, according to the player’s account.

Police then removed 23savage’s handcuffs and watched him play a match using Kez, a Dota 2 hero. In a translated sentence from his October 2026 post, he wrote: “They sat there watching me play Kez, and I finished the game with 32 kills.” CyberScore reported the fuller score as 32/3/10.
That match was treated as a practical demonstration of his identity and professional ability. Reports say the remaining handcuffs were removed after the game, and the players were released as officers left the facility.

What is confirmed, and what remains unclear
| Detail | Status in the reported accounts |
|---|---|
| Location | Xipto Esports’ Kuala Lumpur bootcamp |
| Players named | 23savage, Fbz and Oli |
| Handcuffing and questioning | Reported by 23savage; approximately two hours |
| Dota 2 demonstration | Reportedly allowed by an officer who recognized the game |
| Match result | 32 kills; CyberScore listed 32/3/10 while playing Kez |
| Release | Reports say all three players were released after the demonstration |
| Reason for the raid | Not confirmed by police in publicly reported coverage |
The most important qualification is that the account comes from 23savage and esports reports repeating it. The players’ treatment, the confiscation of devices and the game demonstration have not been accompanied by a publicly reported police account.

Some coverage, including CyberScore’s report, described a rumor that authorities may have mistaken the bootcamp for a fraudulent call center. The speculation appears to have been linked to details such as bulk food orders, which can look unusual to people unfamiliar with an esports team’s routine.

That explanation is not established fact. No police statement confirming a call-center investigation, a warrant, an arrest allegation or a specific offence was reported. Until Malaysian authorities or another authoritative source explains the operation, the alleged scam-call-center connection should be treated only as unconfirmed context.
Who are Fbz and Oli?
Saieful “Fbz” Ilham
Fbz is the teammate identified in the reports as Saieful Ilham. He was at the Xipto bootcamp with 23savage during the reported questioning and was reportedly handcuffed alongside him.

Chon Kien “Oli” Chan
Oli is the teammate identified as Chon Kien Chan. Reports likewise place him at the facility and say he was handcuffed during the same incident. Publicly reported accounts do not establish whether police asked either teammate to perform a separate gaming demonstration.
Why the timing mattered for Xipto Esports
CyberScore reported that Xipto Esports was scheduled to begin the Southeast Asia closed qualifier for DreamLeague Season 30 on October 15, 2026, the same day as the bootcamp incident. A raid that removed phones, passports, internet access and computers therefore occurred immediately before an important competitive appointment.
Publicly reported accounts do not establish whether the disruption changed Xipto’s lineup, delayed a match or affected the team’s result. They do establish that the scheduled qualifier was imminent when the police operation was reported.
What happens next
Further reporting would need to separate police-confirmed facts from the players’ account and determine whether any formal investigation followed. The key unanswered questions are:
- Why did officers enter the bootcamp, and was there a warrant or other documented legal basis?
- Was the facility actually investigated as a suspected call center, or was that only online speculation?
- Were any devices or documents returned, and were any charges filed?
- Did the incident affect Xipto’s DreamLeague Season 30 qualifier?
- Did authorities provide an explanation for requiring an esports performance as identity evidence?
For now, the clearest account is also the strangest one: 23savage says police accepted his identity after watching him play Kez and record 32 kills, then released him and his teammates. The reason the raid happened remains unresolved.
