Eight LEGO releases highlighted by Germain Lussier at Gizmodo on October 2, 2026, range from a $40 Buddy the Elf build to an $800 Star Wars Super Star Destroyer. The “scary” part is how quickly that lineup can tempt fans of stop-motion, gaming, superheroes, holiday comedy, Pokémon, Wednesday and period drama to open their wallets.
What LEGO sets are coming out in October 2026?
Lussier’s October 2 Gizmodo roundup names eight highlights. Its availability notes and prices below reflect what the article reported on that date; they are not guarantees of current stock or pricing. The roundup lists four sets as available then and four for October 4.

| Set | Reported U.S. price | Timing reported October 2 | What stands out |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wallace & Gromit | $100 | Available at publication | A build-and-display take on Aardman’s tactile stop-motion characters. |
| PlayStation | $180 in the roundup; LEGO’s U.S. listing is $179.99 | October 4 | A console replica and original controller, with details tied to Gran Turismo and Ape Escape. |
| Super Star Destroyer | $800 | October 4 | A physically huge Star Wars set; Gizmodo reported a Darth Vader lightsaber set as a limited-time free gift. |
| Avengers: Doomsday – New Avengers Tower | $110 | October 4 | Includes Doctor Doom among its minifigures; Lussier contrasts its scale with earlier LEGO Avengers Tower versions. |
| Buddy the Elf | $40 | Available at publication | A relatively low-cost early holiday-season pick. |
| Poké Ball | $300 | Available at publication | The build opens to reveal additional surprises. |
| Nevermore Academy | $70 | Available at publication | A Wednesday school build that Lussier says is not to scale; the franchise also gets a backpack set. |
| Downton Abbey | $350 | October 4 | A niche licensed set pitched to fans of period design and the series. |
The reported prices are rounded in some cases and can change. For a concrete official reference, LEGO’s U.S. page lists the PlayStation set as model 72306 for $179.99, with 1,911 pieces and an October 4, 2026 release date. LEGO describes it as an adult building kit. See LEGO’s PlayStation 72306 listing.

Which October set fits which kind of fan?
For a display shelf
Wallace & Gromit, the Poké Ball, Nevermore Academy and Downton Abbey are all framed around recognizable characters or settings. The Poké Ball’s opening reveal gives it an interactive feature, while Nevermore Academy is explicitly not to scale, so it is better approached as a stylized franchise build than a realistic architectural model. Gizmodo characterizes Downton Abbey as focused on period design, making it a more specialized choice for fans of that show.

That makes it the clearest candidate for someone drawn to gaming history as well as a substantial adult build.
For Star Wars and Marvel collectors
The Super Star Destroyer is the high-priced, physically large choice in Lussier’s roundup. The reported limited-time Darth Vader lightsaber gift is a promotion claim from that October 2 article; check the current product offer and eligibility before counting it as part of the purchase. The $110 New Avengers Tower offers a lower-priced Marvel option, with Doctor Doom among its highlighted minifigures.
