The efficient way to play Dome Keeper on mobile is to treat every interval as a risk decision: mine far enough to bring back useful resources, return before the next attack catches you away from the dome, spend those resources on the bottleneck that matters now, and enter the defense phase ready to react to the next threat. There is no verified universal route, wave timer, or best upgrade order because each run generates a different map and the official material does not publish those numbers.
Understand the loop before optimizing it
Dome Keeper alternates between two jobs. During the safe interval, you leave the dome, dig through the underground map, collect resources and relics, and carry them home. When the next attack arrives, you defend the dome with the systems and gadgets you have unlocked. Raw Fury’s official Google Play description summarizes the cycle this way: “Use the time between attacks to dig beneath the surface in search of valuable resources and relics – deliver them back to your dome to unlock powerful upgrades and useful new gadgets.” Read the official Google Play listing.

That wording matters because mining and defense are not separate campaigns. Every trip underground delays your return to the dome, while every defensive purchase changes what the next trip can accomplish. The practical objective is therefore not “mine as much as possible” or “buy the strongest upgrade first.” It is to convert each safe interval into enough resources, survivability and mobility to handle the following attack without losing the run.

- Return: bring resources home rather than assuming an extra detour is safe.
- Spend: choose an upgrade or gadget that addresses the immediate limitation.
- Defend: observe the approaching enemies and adapt to their direction and behavior.
The official descriptions do not establish a fixed route, a guaranteed resource location or a universal number of seconds that is safe to spend away from the dome. Use the loop as a decision framework, not as a memorized schedule.

Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
Plan each mining trip around a return decision
Start with the dome’s condition
Before leaving, look at what the dome can currently withstand and what you need to improve. If the defensive position is already under pressure, a shorter trip that gets resources home safely is more valuable than a deep expedition that leaves you absent when the next attack begins. This is a practical implication of the official loop, not a published timing rule.
Ask three questions at the start of every interval:
- What resource or relic would make the next defensive phase easier?
- Which upgrade category currently limits progress: defense, drill impact or movement speed?
- How far can you travel while still having a clear route back to the dome?
The third question should remain dynamic. A procedurally generated map can put useful caves in different places from one run to the next, so a route that worked previously is not guaranteed to exist in the current run. The official mobile listing confirms that each run contains generated maps, resources, caves and gadgets, but it does not specify placement probabilities or generation rules. See the map and gadget description on Google Play.

Use a “return threshold,” not a fixed distance
Instead of deciding that every trip should reach a particular depth, set a personal return threshold based on the situation. Return when the resources already carried home would fund the improvement you need, when the route back is becoming difficult to read, or when the dome’s condition makes your presence more important than another find. If you discover a promising cave while still close to the dome, continuing may be reasonable; if the same discovery requires a long detour during a fragile run, banking what you have can be the safer choice.
This approach avoids a common error: treating unexplored space as automatically more valuable than secured resources. The game’s risk comes from the time between attacks, so the value of a resource is partly determined by whether you can deliver it before the next defense phase.
Keep the path home legible
Procedural terrain rewards adaptation rather than a supposedly perfect line through the map. As you dig, maintain a route that you can recognize and traverse quickly. Do not assume that a cave visible in one run will be in the same place in another, and do not present any particular direction as a guaranteed resource lane. The available official material confirms variation, not a detailed map-generation formula.
When a branch produces little value, treat the information itself as useful: you now know where not to spend the next interval. When you find resources or a gadget, note how much travel was required to reach it and whether the return journey is practical. Those observations help you make a better decision in that run without pretending they form a universal route.

Choose upgrades by the bottleneck you feel now
The official descriptions identify three broad upgrade axes: dome defenses, drill impact and keeper movement speed. They do not publish costs, level-by-level scaling, numerical effects or a ranking that applies to every run. The table below turns those documented categories into a decision aid while keeping the limits clear.
| Upgrade category | What it addresses | Choose it when… | Published cost or scaling |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dome defenses | Immediate ability to withstand attacks at the base. | The next defense is the run’s most urgent risk, or damage to the dome is limiting every later trip. | Not stated in the official listings. |
| Drill impact | Effectiveness of digging through underground terrain. | Harder layers or slow excavation are consuming too much of the safe interval. | Not stated in the official listings. |
| Keeper movement speed | Travel time between the dome, caves and discovered resources. | You can find resources but repeatedly lose value on the journey home. | Not stated in the official listings. |
Think of the categories as competing uses for the same resource pool. Defense protects what you have already built. Drill impact increases the amount you can access underground. Movement speed increases the proportion of each interval spent actually carrying resources instead of crossing the map. The best choice depends on which of those problems is currently preventing progress.
When defense should take priority
Select a defensive improvement when survival is the immediate constraint. If the dome is taking meaningful damage or the current defensive setup leaves little margin for error, a mining improvement may not matter because the run can end before it pays back. Defense is also the conservative choice when you are uncertain how the next wave will behave and have enough resources to improve resilience without delaying a necessary tool.
This is a heuristic, not a verified upgrade ranking. The official pages name defense as an upgrade area but do not compare its numerical benefit with drill or movement upgrades.
Recommended Free Tools
When drill impact should take priority
Drill impact is most relevant when the map contains promising areas that you cannot reach efficiently because excavation itself is the bottleneck. A stronger drill can turn more of the safe interval into actual resource collection, but its value falls if the keeper still spends most of the interval traveling or if the dome cannot survive the next attack. Consider the full trip: breaking through terrain, collecting the find and returning it before defense begins.
When movement speed should take priority
Movement speed addresses wasted travel. It is especially attractive when your route is clear, resources are available, and you regularly arrive back at the dome with little time left to prepare. Faster movement does not replace the need to choose a sensible return point; it simply gives more flexibility once that point is chosen.
Because the sources provide no numerical movement bonus, do not describe a particular level as guaranteeing an extra trip or a specific resource total.

Use gadgets and selectable types as run-specific tools
The official listings also mention useful gadgets and selectable keeper and dome types. They establish that customization exists, but the reviewed material does not compare loadouts or identify a strongest combination. Treat a gadget or type as a tool for the problem your current run presents rather than as proof of a universal “meta.” Record what a choice changes for your own route and defense, then adjust if the next generated map asks for something different.
Do not infer hidden statistics, compatibility rules or a best pairing from the existence of these options. Those details are not supplied by the official pages linked here.
Defend by observing the approach, not by memorizing one counter
Enemies can approach from the air or from the ground, and the official descriptions say they differ in attack methods and movement patterns. That means the first defensive question is “what is arriving, from where and how does it move?” rather than “which single response always works?” Raw Fury’s game page presents observation and adaptation as part of the challenge. Read the official Dome Keeper overview.
Air threats
For an aerial approach, watch the path and attack pattern before committing to a response. Keep the dome’s exposed areas and your available defensive tools in mind, then react to the behavior you can actually see. The sources do not document enemy names, weapon statistics or specific air-enemy counters, so a precise matchup chart would be unsupported.
Ground threats
Ground approaches create a different observation problem because movement through the terrain and the timing of contact can vary. Track how quickly the threat closes on the dome and whether its attack pattern gives you time to reposition or activate a tool. Again, adapt to the observed behavior rather than assuming every ground enemy follows the same path.
Use the interval before the attack to remove uncertainty
Preparation is more than buying an upgrade. Return with enough time to see what is approaching, confirm that the selected defensive setup is available and avoid beginning another expedition while the dome is vulnerable. If the previous wave exposed a weakness, let that observation influence the next purchase. A defensive choice that solves yesterday’s problem may be less useful than one that addresses the threat pattern you are seeing now.
A repeatable between-wave procedure
Use this checklist whenever an attack has ended and a new mining interval begins. It is deliberately based on the documented loop rather than on an invented timer.

- Inspect the dome. Identify damage or defensive weakness that could end the run if ignored.
- Set one immediate objective. Choose a resource, relic, upgrade threshold or gadget that would improve the next phase.
- Choose a reachable area. Favor a branch with a clear route back instead of assuming the farthest unexplored point is best.
- Mine and collect. Use the safe interval to dig, but reassess if the terrain becomes slow or the route home becomes unclear.
- Apply your return threshold. Come back when the secured resources meet the current objective, the dome needs you, or the expedition’s risk is rising.
- Spend resources deliberately. Compare defense, drill impact and movement speed against the bottleneck you just observed.
- Review available gadgets and types. Select a tool that fits the current run, without assuming the same loadout is strongest on every generated map.
- Scan the next approach. During defense, note whether threats are airborne or ground-based and how their movement and attacks differ.
- Carry the lesson forward. Let the previous wave and the current map change your next route and purchase.
Common mistakes and how to correct them
Staying underground because a cave is “almost reached”
A promising cave can tempt you to ignore the return decision. The correction is to value resources only after they reach the dome. If the extra distance would leave you absent for defense, bank what you already have and target the cave during a later interval.
Following a route from another run
Procedural generation means a remembered route is not a guarantee. Use prior runs to improve your decision-making—such as recognizing when travel is consuming too much time—not to claim that a resource always appears in one direction.

Buying the same category every time
A fixed purchase order ignores the three documented trade-offs. Defense, drill impact and movement speed solve different constraints. Revisit the choice after each wave instead of treating one category as permanently superior.
Assuming an enemy’s direction tells you its exact counter
Air and ground are useful observations, not complete strategy guides. The official material confirms different approaches and attack patterns but does not supply enemy-specific counters. Watch the behavior in the current encounter and respond with the tools you actually have.
Expecting mobile controls or performance to match every device
The available sources do not document a universal control layout, performance target or controller requirement. Avoid treating an unverified device behavior as a game rule. Check the platform listing for your region and device before assuming that a particular feature or requirement applies.

What is established—and what is not
The official sources support the core strategy in this guide: alternate mining and defense, return resources to unlock upgrades and gadgets, adapt to a procedurally generated map, and observe whether threats approach through the air or ground. They do not establish the following details:
- A universal wave duration or a guaranteed safe number of seconds underground.
- A fixed resource route, cave probability or exact map-generation rule.
- Upgrade prices, numerical effects, level scaling or a universally best purchase order.
- Enemy names, weapon statistics or verified enemy-specific counters.
- A single worldwide mobile release date or one minimum operating-system requirement.
- A verified win rate, typical run length or mobile performance benchmark.
Keeping those boundaries visible prevents a useful heuristic from turning into false precision. If a future official update publishes costs, timings or enemy data, those figures can refine the framework; until then, use the current run’s map, dome condition and observed threats to make the decision.
Practical decision framework for a complete run
Early intervals: establish safety and information
Use the first safe opportunities to learn the generated terrain and identify what is slowing you down. A short, successful return can reveal more about the route and the dome’s needs than a deep expedition that ends before resources are delivered. Favor information that improves the next decision: where a practical path exists, which terrain resists your current drill and whether the dome can tolerate another attack without reinforcement.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Middle intervals: convert the bottleneck into progress
Once you know whether travel, excavation or defense is limiting you, spend toward that constraint. Drill impact is useful when hard terrain blocks access; movement speed is useful when distance consumes the interval; defense is useful when survival is the limiting factor. Reassess after each attack because the generated map and enemy behavior can change what matters next.
Later intervals: protect the run’s accumulated value
As the run develops, the cost of a risky detour includes everything already invested in upgrades and gadgets. A conservative return can preserve that investment and leave you ready for the next observed threat. Continue exploring when the expected value is clear and the return path remains practical, but do not confuse “more map” with “more progress” unless the find can be delivered and used.
Bottom line for mobile players
Play Dome Keeper as a repeating timing problem, not a race to the deepest cave. Mine during the safe interval, return resources before the next attack, buy the upgrade that fixes your current bottleneck, and defend by watching whether threats come from the air or ground and how they move. Because maps are generated and the official material does not publish universal timings, costs or counters, the most reliable strategy is disciplined adaptation: secure what you can, learn from each wave, and let the current run determine the next trip.
