Yes—but only some Apple TV models support Siri AI. Apple says its newer Apple Intelligence-powered Siri experience is available as a beta on Apple TV 4K (2nd generation or later) running tvOS 27.2. You also need an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad with current software, Siri AI enabled, and a supported language and region. Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K (1st generation) still support ordinary Siri, but they are below Apple’s stated Siri AI hardware cutoff.
Apple TV Siri support at a glance
The presence of a Siri or Search button on an Apple TV remote does not prove that the television box supports Siri AI. Apple has two different experiences: the long-standing voice-search assistant called Siri and the newer Apple Intelligence-powered Siri AI.

| Apple TV model | Ordinary Siri | Siri AI |

| Apple TV HD | Supported in Apple-listed markets and languages | Not included in Apple’s stated Apple TV 4K (2nd generation or later) eligibility |

| Apple TV 4K (2nd generation and later) | Supported | Eligible for the beta, subject to software, paired-device, language, and location requirements |
In practical terms, owners of an Apple TV 4K (2nd generation), 3rd generation, or the announced 4th generation can potentially use Siri AI. Eligibility is not automatic: Apple requires a compatible iPhone or iPad and specific software and language settings.

What Apple Intelligence means
Apple Intelligence is Apple’s broader set of on-device and cloud-assisted intelligence features. Apple’s September 2026 device list names iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Vision Pro, and certain Apple Watch models as devices that run Apple Intelligence. Apple TV is not described as a standalone Apple Intelligence device in that list.
#1 Best Overall
- 4K High Dynamic Range (Dolby Vision and HDR10) for stunning picture quality
- Dolby Digital Plus 7.1 surround sound
- A10X Fusion chip for ultra-fast graphics and performance
- Voice search by asking the Siri Remote
That distinction matters because an Apple TV 4K does not become eligible merely by itself. Apple’s Apple TV announcement specifically makes an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad part of the Siri AI setup.
What Siri AI on Apple TV adds
Siri AI is the newer assistant experience delivered on eligible Apple TV hardware. Apple describes it as a beta in tvOS 27.2. Personal-context requests depend on a paired eligible iPhone or iPad with Siri AI turned on. For example, a request involving a show someone recommended requires that paired device and its enabled personal context.
What ordinary Siri does
Ordinary Siri predates Apple Intelligence. On supported Apple TV models, it can search for movies, television programs, apps, music, and podcasts; make recommendations; switch profiles; search inside compatible apps; and perform some smart-home requests. Apple’s examples include “What should I watch?”, “Find documentaries about cars,” and “Search for Coldplay on YouTube.” Availability and capabilities vary by hardware, country, and language.

1. Identify the hardware
- On the Apple TV, open Settings.
- Choose General, then About.
- Read the model name shown there. Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K (1st generation) are not in Apple’s stated Siri AI eligibility group. Apple TV 4K (2nd generation and later) is the qualifying hardware family.
If the About screen does not clearly identify the generation, use the model information shown there when checking Apple’s current model-support documentation. Do not assume that a device labeled only “Apple TV 4K” is new enough; the first-generation 4K model is specifically below the Siri AI cutoff.
2. Check the tvOS version
Apple says Siri AI on Apple TV is available as a beta in tvOS 27.2. On the Apple TV, open Settings > System > Software Updates and install an available update. A qualifying model on an older release will not meet the published software requirement.
3. Confirm the Home owner’s companion device
Apple requires the Home owner to have an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad running current software. Siri AI must be enabled on that companion device, and the device must use a supported language. This is a separate requirement from the Apple TV’s generation and tvOS version.

4. Verify language and location
Apple’s initial English availability list covers the United States, Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, and the United Kingdom. Apple cautions that features can vary by region and language, and availability can change as the beta expands. If your country or language is not on the current list, the Siri AI controls may not appear even when the hardware is otherwise eligible.
What you need for personal-context requests
Basic voice interaction and personal-context requests are not the same thing. Apple says personal-context requests require a paired Apple Intelligence-enabled device with Siri AI enabled and a supported language. The companion device supplies the eligible Apple Intelligence and Siri AI configuration; the Apple TV alone cannot satisfy that requirement.
For a household, the relevant account relationship also matters: Apple specifies the Home owner when describing the setup. If the television is in a shared home, check that the owner’s qualifying iPhone or iPad is the device configured with Siri AI. A guest’s compatible iPhone does not necessarily replace the Home owner’s required setup.
What ordinary Siri can still do on older Apple TVs
Not having Siri AI does not make an Apple TV unusable with voice control. Apple Support lists ordinary Siri on Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K (1st generation and later) in supported markets and languages.
- Entertainment search: Find movies, shows, actors, genres, music, podcasts, and apps.
- In-app search: Search inside compatible services, such as asking for Coldplay on YouTube.
- Recommendations: Ask what to watch and receive results based on available catalog information.
- Profiles: Switch Apple TV profiles by voice.
- Smart-home requests: Issue some supported Home commands.
To use ordinary Siri, press and hold the Siri/Search button on the remote, speak your request, and release the button. The exact results depend on the app, catalog, language, region, and Apple TV model.

Troubleshooting when Siri AI does not appear
The Apple TV is an eligible generation but has no Siri AI option
- Confirm the Apple TV is running tvOS 27.2 or a later release that Apple identifies as supporting the beta.
- Check that the Home owner has an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad with current software.
- Make sure Siri AI is enabled on that iPhone or iPad rather than only ordinary Siri.
- Review the language setting on the companion device and Apple TV. An unsupported language can block availability.
- Check the country or region against Apple’s current availability information. The initial English rollout covered eight markets, not every English-speaking location.
Ordinary Siri works, but personal requests fail
This usually indicates that the Apple TV’s basic voice search is functioning while the paired-device requirement for personal context is not satisfied. Verify that the qualifying iPhone or iPad is paired with the home setup, has Siri AI enabled, and uses a supported language. A Siri button or successful movie search by itself does not confirm personal-context eligibility.

The remote has a Siri button but the model is old
The remote’s button identifies voice input, not the Apple TV’s Apple Intelligence capability. Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K (1st generation) can use ordinary Siri while remaining outside the Siri AI hardware group. Check the Apple TV model in Settings rather than judging support from the remote.
Should you upgrade for Siri AI?
Keep an existing Apple TV 4K (2nd generation or later)
If you already own an Apple TV 4K from the 2nd generation onward, Apple says that model family is eligible for Siri AI beta support. First check tvOS, the companion iPhone or iPad, language, and region. Buying another Apple TV solely to obtain Siri AI is not automatically necessary.
Keep an Apple TV HD or 1st-generation 4K
These models continue to provide ordinary Siri but are below Apple’s stated Siri AI generation cutoff. If Siri AI is the deciding feature, the hardware requirement means an older model cannot be made eligible through a software update alone.

Apple announced Apple TV 4K (4th generation) on October 13, 2026. The announced U.S. price is $299, and Apple says store availability begins November 13, 2026. Apple lists Siri AI on this model while also stating that the feature is available on Apple TV 4K (2nd generation or later.
That makes the 4th-generation model a new-hardware option, not a mandatory purchase for every Siri AI user. Before buying, compare the cost and timing with your existing 4K model and confirm that your iPhone or iPad, language, and region meet Apple’s requirements. The announced price and date are U.S. launch details; availability and pricing in other countries may differ.

Siri AI on Apple TV is described by Apple as a beta. Beta availability means the feature is still being rolled out and may change in behavior, supported languages, regions, or system requirements. Apple’s launch list is therefore a snapshot, not a promise that every market or language will receive identical capabilities at the same time.

For that reason, check Apple’s current software and availability information after updating. A model that meets the hardware cutoff can still lack a feature temporarily because the required language, region, companion-device configuration, or rollout status is different.

Common questions before setting it up
Does Apple TV HD have Apple Intelligence?
Apple TV HD supports ordinary Siri in Apple-listed markets and languages. Apple’s Siri AI announcement limits Apple TV eligibility to Apple TV 4K (2nd generation or later), so Apple TV HD is not included.
Does Apple TV 4K (1st generation) support Siri AI?
No. It supports ordinary Siri, but it is below Apple’s stated 2nd-generation-and-later cutoff for Siri AI.
Do I need an iPhone or iPad?
Yes, for Apple’s stated Siri AI setup. The Home owner needs an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad with current software, Siri AI enabled, and a supported language. Personal-context requests additionally require a paired eligible device.
Is every Apple TV 4K compatible?
No. Apple specifies Apple TV 4K (2nd generation or later). The first-generation 4K model is excluded from that stated eligibility.
Can I use ordinary Siri without Siri AI?
Yes. Apple lists ordinary Siri for Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K (1st generation and later), subject to supported countries, languages, and hardware features.
The practical answer
Check the Apple TV generation first. If it is Apple TV 4K (2nd generation or later), update to the required tvOS release, then verify the Home owner’s Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad, Siri AI setting, language, and region. If the box is Apple TV HD or Apple TV 4K (1st generation), expect ordinary Siri rather than Siri AI. Apple’s announced 4th-generation Apple TV 4K adds another eligible option, but Apple does not say that existing qualifying 4K owners must buy it to obtain Siri AI.
