Wowza supports scheduled starts and stops for streams in Wowza Video (formerly Wowza Streaming Cloud), but the documentation reviewed does not confirm that this schedules a YouTube event or guarantees continuous delivery to YouTube. What Wowza scheduling does—and does not establish
Wowza’s documentation says schedules can start and/or stop live streams or transcoders once or on a recurring basis. It also says a scheduled stream continues until it is manually stopped or a stop schedule runs. That confirms scheduling behavior on the Wowza side; it does not by itself establish that a YouTube event is scheduled or that delivery to YouTube will continue without interruption.

Can Wowza schedule a YouTube stream?
The available documentation does not specifically verify a YouTube destination or an integrated workflow that schedules a YouTube event and sends the Wowza stream to it. Wowza API material describes custom external destinations, but the reviewed material does not identify YouTube. Generic external-target support is not enough to conclude that YouTube is a supported native destination, that its event scheduling is automatic, or that a particular account can be configured for it.

Before relying on a scheduled YouTube broadcast, check the current account for a YouTube destination or a configurable custom external target. Confirm destination credentials and ingest details, then check YouTube’s current instructions for any event setup required on its side. Do not assume a Wowza start schedule will create or start a YouTube event.
How to verify the complete workflow before broadcast
- Check the destination in Wowza Video. In your current account, look for a YouTube destination or determine whether a custom external target can be configured. The reviewed material does not confirm either as a YouTube-specific setup.
- Verify YouTube’s event requirements. Confirm the event and ingest details using current YouTube instructions, and establish whether the event must be created or started separately.
- Test end to end. Confirm that the source reaches Wowza, that the Wowza schedule starts and stops at the intended times, and that YouTube receives the stream and behaves as expected.
- Plan the stop behavior. For a finite broadcast, configure an explicit stop schedule or plan to stop the stream manually. Wowza documents that a scheduled stream otherwise continues until one of those stop actions occurs.
- Test interruptions and restarts. Establish what happens if the source disconnects, Wowza restarts, or the YouTube event ends. The reviewed sources do not settle how those cases behave in a YouTube workflow.
Does Wowza support continuous YouTube streaming?
The documented ability to leave a Wowza stream running until it is stopped is not proof of an indefinitely continuous YouTube broadcast. A continuous setup depends on the source staying live, the Wowza-to-YouTube destination working, and both services’ behavior during disconnects and restarts. Those YouTube-specific details are not established by the reviewed documentation, so verify them with a full-duration or representative test and current Wowza support before depending on the workflow.
