Verizon advertises Simplicity at $30 per line per month only when AutoPay is combined with a $15 switch or bring-a-number discount. Verizon’s support FAQ separately states $45 per line with AutoPay and paperless billing, or $55 without that discount. Taxes and fees are extra.
That makes Simplicity potentially attractive for an eligible single-line switcher. myPlan offers more explicit tiers and multi-line pricing, plus substantially more hotspot data on its higher tiers. The better value depends on your number of lines, hotspot use, international requirements and whether you want a promotion that may not last.

What Verizon Simplicity actually costs
The $30 figure is not Simplicity’s universal base rate. Verizon ties it to two conditions: enrollment in AutoPay and a $15 discount for switching or bringing a number to Verizon. Verizon’s support information describes the underlying rates this way:

These are service prices per line before taxes and fees. The $15 switch discount is an eligibility-based promotion, not a permanent promise that applies to every account. Confirm the offer’s duration and whether it applies to each line before changing service.

For a household, multiply the applicable per-line rate by the number of lines, then add taxes and fees. Simplicity’s appeal is that the calculation is straightforward; it does not by itself establish that it will beat a multi-line myPlan account.
What Simplicity includes
Verizon positions Simplicity as a bundled, core-unlimited plan. Its listed inclusions are:
- Unlimited 5G Ultra Wideband data.
- 10 GB of mobile hotspot data.
- Talk, text and data in Mexico and Canada.
- Satellite texting.
- Verizon Dollars.
- Call Filter.
- Verizon Family.
Verizon’s Simplicity terms also state that all available Verizon phones are compatible with Mobile Hotspot. The 10 GB allowance is still the key practical limit for tethering; people who routinely use a laptop or tablet away from Wi-Fi should compare it directly with myPlan’s larger allowances.

How myPlan is structured
myPlan is tiered rather than flat. Verizon’s current listing gives these standard prices for four lines with AutoPay:

Verizon also lists a $10 per-line multi-line account credit that expires after 36 months. Treat that expiration as part of the long-term calculation rather than assuming the introductory account price continues indefinitely. The figures above are specifically the four-line rates shown by Verizon; they should not be used as one-line prices.
myPlan’s tiering lets a household pay for more premium hotspot capacity or other tier-specific benefits only on lines that need them. It also means the final bill can require more attention than Simplicity’s single bundled rate.
Hotspot data is the clearest functional difference
Simplicity lists 10 GB of hotspot data. myPlan Unlimited Plus lists 30 GB of premium hotspot data, while Unlimited Ultimate lists 200 GB of premium hotspot data before speeds are reduced. That is a material difference for remote work, gaming downloads, video calls or travel where several devices share one phone.

Which plan makes more sense for one line or a family?
For a single-line switcher
Simplicity’s eligible $30 price can be compelling because the switch discount is aimed directly at new or bring-your-number customers. If you do not qualify, the relevant comparison starts at $45 with AutoPay and paperless billing, not $30. Verizon’s four-line myPlan prices cannot answer what a one-line myPlan account will cost, so obtain the one-line quote before deciding.
For families with several lines
Compare the total account bill, not just the cheapest advertised line. Simplicity gives you a predictable per-line calculation, while myPlan’s four-line rates and its separately listed $10-per-line credit can change the result. Recalculate the account after the credit’s 36-month expiration, and account for different needs: one line may need Ultimate-level hotspot data while another may be fine with a lower tier.
For international users
Simplicity explicitly includes talk, text and data in Mexico and Canada. The supplied Verizon myPlan figures do not establish equivalent international allowances for each tier, so verify the exact country coverage and any required add-on before treating the plans as interchangeable for travel.

Can you keep your phone when switching?
Yes. Verizon says customers can bring an existing device, purchase a phone outright or finance one over 12, 24, 36 or 48 months. A bring-your-own-device switch is therefore possible, but compatibility is model-specific: check that the exact unlocked 5G phone supports Verizon’s network and required bands before activating it.

Existing Verizon customers can switch to Simplicity. Verizon warns that moving back later may forfeit Simplicity promotions or discounts. Before submitting the change, ask which device credits, employer or other account discounts and promotional terms will survive the switch; do not assume an existing benefit automatically transfers.
How to choose without being misled by the headline price
- Confirm your eligibility. Get the written monthly rate, the length of the $15 switch or bring-a-number discount and the AutoPay or paperless-billing requirement.
- Count every line. Compare the full Simplicity total with the correct myPlan quote for your number of lines, including the end date of myPlan’s listed $10-per-line credit.
- Measure hotspot use. Match your expected usage against 10 GB on Simplicity, 30 GB on Unlimited Plus or 200 GB on Unlimited Ultimate.
- Check travel needs. Simplicity includes Mexico and Canada talk, text and data; verify the exact myPlan international terms for your destinations.
- Audit existing benefits. Confirm whether device payments, account discounts and promotional credits remain active, especially if you might switch back later.
- Add taxes, fees and optional benefits. Compare the final recurring bill, not a pre-tax headline rate, and price any streaming, cloud or travel perks you would otherwise buy separately.
Bottom line: simpler pricing, not automatically cheaper service
Verizon Simplicity lives up to its name in presentation: one bundled per-line rate and a short list of included benefits. It is most attractive when you qualify for the $30 switch promotion, need no more than 10 GB of hotspot data and value Mexico-and-Canada coverage without assembling add-ons. The regular $45 AutoPay or $55 non-discount rates tell a different story.
myPlan is the more flexible framework for families and heavy hotspot users. Unlimited Plus triples Simplicity’s stated hotspot allowance, and Unlimited Ultimate offers 200 GB of premium hotspot data, while the multi-line credit requires a 36-month cost check. Choose only after Verizon confirms your exact line pricing, discounts and international coverage.
