Probably, yes—as an installable app. The Vivo V80 listed by vivo India has 8 GB of RAM and OriginOS 7, while Google’s Gemini Android app requires Android 9 or later and at least 2 GB of RAM. That makes installation likely if your particular V80 runs a supported Android base, is sold in a supported region, and uses an eligible Google account. The available specifications do not prove that Gemini is preinstalled, selectable as the default assistant, or available with every feature on every regional V80.

- Can you install Google’s Gemini app? The answer is likely yes for a supported V80 variant. Google lists Android 9 or later and 2 GB RAM as the general minimum, and the vivo India listing gives the V80 8 GB RAM.
- Does Gemini come built in or replace the phone’s assistant? That is not established for all V80 versions. Preinstallation and default-assistant options can depend on the market, software build, account and language.
- Are all of the V80’s AI tools powered by Gemini? No. vivo advertises its own V80 features, including AI Creative Camera, Pet Pals, Snap Notes and Security Shield. Those are separate from the Gemini app.
Vivo also describes an OriginOS transcription workflow that uses Google Gemini alongside Microsoft Teams speech technology. Its documentation limits that workflow to selected devices, countries or regions and languages, so it should not be treated as proof that every V80 includes it.

The clearest hardware and software information comes from vivo India’s online V80 store listing, checked in October 2026. It identifies OriginOS 7, 8 GB of RAM, a Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor and storage choices of 128 GB, 256 GB and 512 GB. The listing does not state the underlying Android version. Because Google’s Gemini requirement is expressed as Android 9 or later, the missing base-version detail matters.

The 8 GB figure is therefore useful evidence, not a compatibility certificate. Google also conditions Gemini availability on country, language, account and other eligibility rules. Android Go editions are not supported.
How to install and test Gemini on a Vivo V80
Use the following process on the phone itself. Menu names can differ slightly between OriginOS builds and regional firmware, so treat the wording as a guide rather than a guarantee of an identical screen.
- Identify the exact software build. Open Settings and look for About phone, About device or a similarly named page. Record the model number, OriginOS version and Android version. If the Android version is earlier than 9, Google’s published minimum is not met.
- Install official updates first. In Settings, open System update or Software update and apply any available update from vivo. Restart after the update. A current build can affect Play services, permissions and the availability of newer assistant components.
- Check Google services and account status. Confirm that the phone has Google Play Store and that you can sign in with an eligible Google account. A China-market or otherwise altered software build may not expose the same Google services as the India configuration; the India listing cannot settle that question for another market.
- Search the Play Store for the official Gemini app. Use the app’s publisher information and Google branding to distinguish it from unrelated chatbot applications. If the listing is unavailable, the most likely causes are region, account, device certification or software restrictions—not necessarily insufficient RAM.
- Install, open and sign in. Accept only the permissions you understand, then sign in with the account you intend to use. Gemini may ask you to review privacy or activity controls before chat and assistant features become available.
- Run a basic capability check. Ask a text question, try a supported language and test any voice control you intend to use. A successful installation proves app access, not that every action, language or voice command is enabled in your region.
- Keep the app and Google components current. Gemini depends on Google’s app and service updates. If a feature disappears after a change, check Play Store updates and the account or language selected in Gemini before resetting the phone.
If the Play Store reports that the app is unavailable, do not infer that the V80 hardware is too weak. Google’s eligibility rules include geography, language, account type and other conditions. Installing an APK from an unknown site can introduce security and update problems and is not a reliable way to establish official support.
Can Gemini be the V80’s default assistant?
The available Vivo and Google pages do not verify a universal default-assistant setting for every V80 variant. On Android phones that expose the option, a path similar to Settings → Apps → Default apps → Digital assistant app may list the available assistant. OriginOS can use different labels, and a regional build may omit the selector altogether.

If Gemini appears in that list, selecting it changes the assistant invoked by the phone’s configured gesture or button; it does not turn every vivo AI feature into a Gemini feature. If Gemini is absent, check for software updates, Google Play services updates, account eligibility and language support. If it still does not appear, the variant may permit the Gemini app for chat while withholding assistant replacement. That distinction is a software-policy issue, not evidence that the 8 GB model fails Google’s basic RAM threshold.
Vivo’s own V80 AI features are separate
The V80 product page presents several features under vivo’s branding. Their names should not be read as a list of Gemini capabilities.
AI Creative Camera
AI Creative Camera is the camera-related feature vivo highlights for the V80. The page does not establish that it calls Google Gemini, nor does it promise identical tools on every regional firmware. Image recognition quality and available modes can vary with the device, language, region and software version.

Pet Pals is another named V80 feature. Its presence on the product page confirms that vivo markets it as part of the phone’s AI feature set; it does not identify Gemini as the underlying service. Treat the exact effects and supported subjects as model- and software-dependent.

Snap Notes
Snap Notes is listed as a V80 AI function for working with notes or captured content. The product documentation does not say that it is the Google Gemini app, that it requires a Gemini account or that it is available in every language.
Security Shield
Security Shield is vivo’s security-oriented AI feature name. It belongs to the phone’s own feature layer rather than serving as evidence of Google assistant integration. Security and recognition behavior can change with updates and regional policy.
Vivo cautions that support, recognition quality and availability can vary by device, region, language and other factors. Consequently, a V80 can satisfy the hardware threshold for Gemini while showing a different selection of vivo-branded AI tools than another V80 sold elsewhere.
Where Gemini appears inside OriginOS
Vivo’s OriginOS 7 feature page describes a transcription workflow that combines Microsoft Teams speech technology with Google Gemini. In that workflow, speech is transcribed and Gemini helps correct, organize and summarize the resulting text.

This documentation has two important limits. First, it describes Gemini as part of a particular OriginOS capability, not as proof that the standalone Gemini app is preinstalled. Second, its footnote limits the related transcription functions to selected devices, countries or regions and languages. The page does not identify every V80 model that qualifies.
To look for the function, update OriginOS, open the phone’s recording, meeting or notes tools and check whether transcription or summary controls are offered. If no such control appears, the absence may reflect the model, market, language or account rather than a fault. Do not promise that changing the default assistant will enable transcription; they are separate software paths.

Google’s general Gemini requirements are necessary but not sufficient. Availability can change according to:
- Country or region: The India configuration is the one documented here. A V80 imported from another market can have different firmware, Google-service certification or feature switches.
- Language: Some languages do not support Hey Google voice commands or particular Gemini actions. Text chat may work even when a voice command does not.
- Google account: Account age, type, administrator controls or other eligibility rules can affect access. Testing with a different account can produce a different result without any hardware change.
- Android edition: Google excludes Android Go and requires Android 9 or later for the general app threshold.
- Device and software selection: Vivo’s own transcription features are explicitly restricted to selected devices and locations.
These conditions explain why two phones carrying the V80 name can show different Gemini menus. Compatibility should therefore be reported for a model number, software build and market, not for the name alone.

A practical checklist before you buy or reset the phone
Use this checklist when evaluating a particular V80 listing or second-hand handset:
- Confirm the selling country and whether the software is the official regional build.
- Open About phone and record the Android version, OriginOS version and model number.
- Verify RAM; the India listing specifies 8 GB, but do not assume every market has identical memory or storage options.
- Check that Google Play Store and Google Play services are installed and certified.
- Search the Play Store for Gemini while signed in with the intended account.
- Review Gemini’s language and voice settings for the commands you need.
- Look in Default apps for a digital-assistant selector, understanding that the menu may not exist on your variant.
- Test the specific vivo AI tool you care about—camera, notes, security or transcription—rather than relying on the word AI in the product description.
What to do when Gemini will not install or a feature is missing
The app is not listed
Check the phone’s country setting, Google account, Play Store updates and device certification. Confirm that the Android version is at least 9 and that the phone is not running Android Go. If all of those checks pass, Google may still not have enabled Gemini for that location or account.
The app installs but voice commands fail
Try a language supported for the desired command, review microphone permission and test text chat separately. Google notes that some languages lack Hey Google support or particular actions, so a working chat session does not guarantee voice control.

Install available vivo and Google updates, restart and inspect the Default apps area again. If the selector remains absent, use Gemini as an app rather than assuming the phone can replace its system assistant. The cited documentation does not promise default-assistant selection on every V80.
Transcription tools are absent
Check the OriginOS version, language and region, then look for updates to the relevant recording or notes application. Vivo describes the Gemini-linked transcription feature as limited to selected devices and markets, so an unsupported combination cannot be repaired by installing the standalone Gemini app alone.
Bottom line
For the India V80 configuration documented by vivo, 8 GB of RAM puts the phone above Google’s general Gemini app memory requirement. If the handset runs Android 9 or later and Google offers Gemini for its region, language and account, installing and using the app is a reasonable expectation. That conclusion is an inference from Google’s requirements and vivo’s listed specification, not a blanket compatibility certification.
Keep the boundaries clear: vivo’s AI Creative Camera, Pet Pals, Snap Notes and Security Shield are separate V80 features; OriginOS transcription may use Gemini but is region- and device-limited; and neither preinstallation nor default-assistant replacement is confirmed for every V80 variant. Check the exact model, software build and Google Play settings on the phone you own before making a stronger claim.
