No: Sony does not document a native 2560 × 1440 (QHD) output mode for the PS4 Slim. You can connect the console to a QHD monitor over HDMI, but a working connection is not the same as a QHD signal. Sony’s published PS4 HDMI modes run up to 1080p; a monitor may scale that input to fit its panel, depending on the display.
What resolution does the PS4 Slim output?
Sony’s PS4 FAQ lists these HDMI output standards: 480p, 720p, 1080i, and 1080p. It also says the console adjusts its HDMI resolution automatically according to the connected TV or monitor. The list does not include 1440p, the standard resolution of a QHD display (2560 × 1440). Sony’s PS4 FAQ

Sony’s Canada specifications identify the CUH-2000 series as PS4 and list an HDMI output with HDR support. The launch-era FAQ predates the Slim, so these sources should be read together: Sony identifies the Slim’s series, while its published PS4 output-mode list does not document a Slim-specific QHD mode. Will a QHD monitor work with a PS4 Slim?
It can, if the monitor accepts the HDMI signal the console sends. Connect the PS4 Slim’s HDMI OUT port to the monitor’s HDMI input, then select that input on the monitor. Sony’s setup instructions identify the HDMI connection, but do not guarantee compatibility with every monitor or every HDMI timing. Sony PS4 setup guide
#1 Best Overall
- QHD Resolution (2560 x 1440) has 1.7 times the pixel density of Full HD for incredibly detailed pinsharp images
- HDR10 provides brighter highlights and nuanced shadow for added depth - making every scene feel more vivid and realistic
- The 180Hz refresh rate minimizes lag for gameplay with ultra-smooth action. Plus, the 1ms response time helps capture your moves in real-time, allowing you to react fast for gaming precision
- AMD FreeSync reduces choppiness, screen lag and image tearing, ensuring that your fast-paced, complex in-game action is stable with minimal stutter
- Ergonomic stand allows for tilt, pivot and height adjustments to maximize gaming comfort
If the monitor accepts the console’s signal, it may scale the lower-resolution picture to fill its 2560 × 1440 panel. Scaling is performed by the display, not by the console, and its behavior and resulting image depend on the monitor. A QHD panel therefore does not make the Slim output native QHD.
Why the PS4 Pro’s 1440p specifications do not apply
Sony’s specifications page separates PS4 and PS4 Pro information. Its statement that game resolution ranges from 1080p to 1440p on an HD TV appears in the PS4 Pro section, alongside selected games at native 2160p. Those are Pro claims, not evidence that the PS4 Slim supports QHD. Sony PS4 technical specifications

- Quality Visuals: The KG271U 27" IPS monitor with 2560 x 1440 QHD resolution in a 16:9 aspect ratio presents stunning, high-quality images with excellent detail. The zero-frame design does away with the thick frames found on conventional monitors freeing up precious screen space.
- AMD FreeSync Technology: Say “goodbye” to stuttering and tearing. With AMD FreeSync, the monitor’s frames are synced with the graphics card’s frames, which eliminates screen tearing and provide the smoothest gaming experience.
- Up to 180Hz: The 180Hz refresh rate speeds up the frames per second to deliver an ultra-smooth 2D motion scene. With a rapid refresh rate of up to 180Hz, Acer Gaming Monitors shorten the time it takes for frame rendering, lower input lag and provide gamers an excellent in-game experience.
- Responsive!!: Up to 0.5ms GTG (Gray to Gray) response time enhanced gamers’ in-game experience. No matter the fast-moving action or any dramatic transitions will be all rendered smoothly without the annoying effects of smearing or ghosting with KG271U Gaming Monitor.
- New Depths of Color Accuracy: is monitor is ideal for color-critical projects producing accurate colors, supporting DCI-P3 95%. An amazing monitor for graphic designers, photographers, and film editors.
What to check if the screen is blank or the picture looks wrong
- Confirm the cable is connected to the console’s HDMI OUT port and the monitor’s HDMI input.
- Set the monitor to the input connected to the console.
- Check the monitor’s manual or specifications for supported HDMI input resolutions and timings. The console selects a resolution based on the connected display, but Sony does not state that every QHD monitor will accept every signal.
- If the picture appears but does not look as sharp as expected, remember that the console’s documented modes stop at 1080p and the monitor may be scaling that image.
Does HDR mean the Slim supports QHD?
No. HDR and resolution are separate capabilities. Sony lists HDR support for the CUH-2000 PS4 series, but HDR does not add a 1440p output mode. Sony’s HDR setup guidance calls for an HDR-compatible display, a Premium HDMI cable, HDR-capable content, and suitable console software and settings. It directs users to enable HDR and Deep Color at Settings > Sound and Screen > Video Output Settings, choosing Automatic. Sony specifies system software 7.0 or later for this guidance. Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteWill a different HDMI cable make the picture QHD?
No. A replacement cable can resolve a damaged-cable or connection issue, but it cannot add a video mode the console does not document. If the included cable works, buying another one is not necessary to connect the Slim to a monitor. Sony’s Premium HDMI cable recommendation is part of its HDR setup guidance, not a way to enable QHD.
