Yes. The Logitech MX Master 4 works with macOS and Windows, and one mouse can be paired with up to three computers. You can connect over Bluetooth or, where supported by your package and computer, Logitech’s Logi Bolt USB-C receiver. Basic pointing and clicking do not require Logitech software; programmable controls, Actions Ring settings, and configurable haptic feedback do.
What the MX Master 4 supports
Logitech documents the MX Master 4 for both Windows and macOS. Its multi-device design gives each paired computer an Easy-Switch channel. Pressing the switch selects the active channel, so you can move between three computers without pairing the mouse again each time.

The mouse has two connection methods:
- Bluetooth: Pair directly with a computer that has Bluetooth.
- Logi Bolt: Use the Logi Bolt USB-C receiver and complete device setup if it does not connect automatically.
The exact receiver included, if any, depends on whether you buy the standard, Mac, or Business version and on the package sold in your region. Check the box contents for the exact model before assuming a receiver is included.

How three-computer pairing works
Each Easy-Switch channel stores one computer connection. Logitech’s “Getting Started – MX Master 4” guide says: “Your mouse can be paired with up to three different computers using the easy-switch button to change the channel.” A short press changes channels. Holding the selected channel for about three seconds puts it into discovery mode for a new Bluetooth pairing or receiver setup.

- Precision you can feel with the Haptic Sense Panel; customizable (1) haptic feedback on specific actions, shortcuts, notifications enhancing productivity on this wireless Bluetooth mouse

- Ergonomic mouse designed for comfort, MX Master 4 keeps you in flow with a natural tilt, intuitive buttons, and a thumb scroll wheel that reduces hand stress for fluid navigation
After pairing computer one on channel one, select channel two and pair computer two, then repeat for channel three. Once all three channels are populated, a short press selects the computer you want to control. The mouse does not merge three computers into one pointer or move the pointer across screens by itself; it changes which computer receives input.
Pair the MX Master 4 over Bluetooth
Bluetooth is the simplest option when the computer has a working Bluetooth radio and you do not want to occupy a USB port. Logitech’s Mac quick-start material demonstrates this flow.
- Turn on the MX Master 4.
- Press the Easy-Switch button briefly to select the channel you want to use.
- If that channel has not been paired, hold the Easy-Switch button for about three seconds. The selected channel enters discovery mode.
- Open the computer’s Bluetooth settings. On a Mac, use Apple menu > System Settings > Bluetooth. On Windows, use Settings > Bluetooth & devices and turn Bluetooth on.
- Select MX Master 4 from the available devices and accept the pairing prompt.
- Move the pointer and click to confirm that the new channel is active.
If the mouse name does not appear, keep the three-second press limited to the selected channel, make sure the mouse is close to the computer, and remove an old MX Master 4 entry before trying again. A channel that is already assigned to another computer will not behave like a blank discovery channel until you deliberately re-enter pairing mode.
Connect with a Logi Bolt receiver
Logitech’s setup guide also documents Logi Bolt. Plug the receiver into the computer, select the desired Easy-Switch channel, and follow the on-screen device setup steps if the connection is not automatic. A receiver connection can be useful when Bluetooth is unavailable, restricted by an organization, or unreliable on a particular computer.

Verify the connector and package contents before buying accessories. The guide refers to a Logi Bolt USB-C receiver, but the consumer and Business packages can differ. The available documentation does not establish that every regional box contains the receiver or that every computer has a matching USB-C port.
What works without Logitech software
Basic mouse functions—moving the pointer, clicking, scrolling, and ordinary button use—are designed to work without Logi Options+. That makes the MX Master 4 usable immediately after a standard Bluetooth or receiver pairing.
Install Logi Options+ on Windows or macOS when you want to change the mouse’s behavior. Logitech describes the app as the place for programmable controls, Actions Ring configuration, and haptic settings. A mouse can therefore remain functional on a computer where you cannot install software, but its advanced customization will not follow automatically unless it has been configured through a supported installation.
Actions Ring and haptic controls
Actions Ring is a software-configured control that can expose shortcuts for common desktop actions. Logitech says Easy-Switch can also be assigned to the Actions Ring through Logi Options+, although the physical Easy-Switch button remains the direct method described in the setup guide.

Logitech’s Ergo Lab reported in 2025 that Actions Ring shortcuts produced up to 33% time saved and up to 63% fewer mouse movements in its study of 37 MX Master users performing eight desktop actions. Those are Logitech-reported, upper-bound results, not a guaranteed improvement: the company notes that outcomes vary with the shortcuts assigned.
Logitech also describes native advanced haptics integration on Windows 11 and ties that behavior to a current Windows update. Because haptic support depends on the operating-system, firmware, and app versions, check Logitech’s current support notes before treating a particular Windows build as guaranteed.
Mac, Windows, and Business variant requirements
Do not treat every MX Master 4 listing as identical. Logitech presents a standard consumer model, an MX Master 4 for Mac configuration, and an MX Master 4 for Business configuration. Their software and minimum-version details are not interchangeable.
| Variant or setup | Operating-system information documented by Logitech | Connection information | What to verify |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard MX Master 4 | Windows and macOS support is documented; a complete consumer minimum-version table is not stated in the available product-page material. | Bluetooth and Logi Bolt are described in the setup information. | Current consumer support page, firmware requirements, and whether the chosen package contains a receiver. |
| MX Master 4 for Mac | macOS support is documented. The available product-page material does not state a complete minimum macOS version. | Bluetooth pairing is demonstrated in the Mac quick-start guide; receiver inclusion is not stated. | Exact regional package, current Logi Options+ requirements, and any macOS version restriction. |
| MX Master 4 for Business | Specifications list Windows 10/11 or later and macOS 12 or later. | Bluetooth and Logi Bolt compatibility are listed. | Whether your organization permits Bluetooth, receiver installation, and Logi Options+. |
The Business minimums are specific to that Business specification. They should not be presented as the universal requirements for every consumer MX Master 4. If a minimum version determines your purchase, identify the exact model number and consult Logitech’s current support page for that variant.

Choosing Bluetooth or Logi Bolt
Choose Bluetooth when
- Your Mac or Windows PC has Bluetooth enabled and available.
- You want to keep every USB port free.
- You regularly switch among computers and prefer pairing each channel directly.
Choose Logi Bolt when
- The computer lacks usable Bluetooth or an administrator has disabled it.
- You have the correct Logi Bolt receiver and a compatible port.
- You want a dedicated receiver connection rather than the computer’s Bluetooth stack.
Neither method increases the three-computer limit. The limit applies to the mouse’s Easy-Switch channels, regardless of whether a channel uses Bluetooth or a receiver.
Switch between paired computers
- Leave each computer paired on its own Easy-Switch channel.
- Press the Easy-Switch button briefly to select the channel assigned to the computer you want.
- Wait for the channel indicator to settle, then move the mouse.
If you configure Easy-Switch through Actions Ring, you gain an alternate software shortcut, but the hardware button remains the reliable fallback when Options+ is unavailable.

The mouse moves but custom buttons do nothing
That usually indicates a software requirement rather than a connection failure. Install Logi Options+ on the supported Windows or macOS computer, then assign the controls and haptic behavior there. Basic pointer operation can continue without the app, but programmable functions are not expected to appear automatically.

Select an unused Easy-Switch channel and hold it for about three seconds to make that channel discoverable. A short press only changes channels; it does not start a new pairing. In Bluetooth settings, remove a stale MX Master 4 entry if the computer remembers an incomplete earlier attempt.

The receiver does not connect
Confirm that the receiver is the Logi Bolt model specified for the mouse, that it is fully inserted, and that you have followed the setup prompt. If the package did not include a receiver, Bluetooth is the documented alternative. Do not assume that a separately purchased receiver is required until you have checked the chosen variant’s contents.
Haptic options are missing on Windows
Advanced haptics depend on current Windows, firmware, and Logi Options+ support. Update Windows and the Logitech software, then check the support notes for your exact MX Master 4 variant. Logitech’s Windows 11 haptics description is tied to a current update, so an older build may not expose the same controls.
The mouse works on one operating system but not another
Check the variant first. Business minimums of Windows 10/11 or later and macOS 12 or later apply to the Business specification, not automatically to every consumer model. Then verify Bluetooth status or receiver setup on the second computer and install Logi Options+ if the missing feature is a customization rather than basic input.

It is a practical fit when you need one mouse for up to three computers and are comfortable assigning each computer an Easy-Switch channel. Bluetooth keeps the setup cable-free; Logi Bolt gives you another connection path where the appropriate receiver and port are available. The important purchase checks are the exact variant, included accessories, and current operating-system requirements—not the brand name alone.
For simple pointing and scrolling, pair it and use it. For Actions Ring shortcuts, programmable buttons, or haptic tuning, plan on installing Logi Options+ on each supported computer where those settings are needed.
