Yes. The Belkin Gaming Charging Grip for Nintendo Switch 2 (model ENA019) can charge the console while you play in handheld mode. Belkin’s setup is simple: charge the grip’s internal battery, attach it securely, turn it on, and start playing. The grip supplements the Switch 2 battery rather than replacing it, so the console can still reach empty after the grip is depleted.
What the Belkin grip does during handheld play
ENA019 combines a precision-fit handheld shell, ergonomic non-slip handles and an integrated battery. Once the grip has charge and is attached to the Switch 2, its USB-C power-delivery system sends power to the console while a game is running. Belkin’s official support wording is unambiguous: “The device will charge the console during gameplay.” The user guide describes the same use case as charging and playing simultaneously without interrupting gameplay.

The practical result is an extended handheld session without stopping to connect a loose cable to a separate battery pack. The grip remains physically attached while you play, so the power source is supported by the same accessory that provides the hand grips. It is still a supplemental battery: when the grip runs out, the Switch 2 falls back to its own remaining charge.

| Specification | Published figure | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| Model | ENA019 | Designed specifically for Nintendo Switch 2 handheld use. |
| Battery energy | 38.7 Wh | Belkin’s 2026 support FAQ rating for stored energy. |
| Nominal battery capacity | 10,000 mAh | Belkin’s 2026 product-page capacity figure. Milliamp-hours depend on the battery voltage used for the rating, so this number should not be compared with a power bank without checking voltage and watt-hours. |
| USB-C Power Delivery output | Up to 30 W | Maximum published output; the console and cable determine the power actually delivered at a given moment. |
| Estimated console recharge | Up to 1.5x | Belkin’s product-page estimate. Delivered energy is lower than nominal capacity, and results vary with game load, console state and other conditions. |
| Battery indicator | Included | Shows the grip’s remaining battery status before or during a session. |
| Warranty | Two years | Belkin’s published warranty period; retain purchase documentation and check the applicable regional terms. |
The 38.7 Wh and 10,000 mAh figures are not necessarily contradictory. Watt-hours express energy directly, while milliamp-hours express charge at a stated battery voltage. For deciding how long the grip will last, the “up to 1.5x” statement is the more consumer-facing estimate, but it remains a maximum rather than a guaranteed number of full console charges.
How to charge and use it while playing
1. Charge the grip before leaving home
The grip has its own battery and must be charged separately from the Switch 2. The package does not include a wall charger or a separate charging cable, so you need a suitable USB-C charger and cable already available. Belkin’s published material gives the grip’s output rating, but it does not state a universal input-wattage requirement in the supplied specifications; use a reputable USB-C charger and follow the markings on the grip and its guide.
2. Check the battery indicator
Before attaching the console, use the built-in battery-status indicator to confirm that the grip has charge. Starting with an empty grip will not extend a session, even though the accessory is physically attached.

3. Fit the Switch 2 into the grip
Slide or seat the console into the ENA019 according to the user guide, checking that it is fully engaged and stable. A secure fit matters both for comfort and for maintaining the intended USB-C connection. Do not force the console into the shell or continue if the connector does not align naturally.

4. Start handheld mode
With the grip attached and powered, begin a handheld game. Belkin’s FAQ specifically instructs users to attach the grip, make sure it has battery power, and then play in handheld mode. The console can remain in active gameplay while the grip supplies power.
5. Monitor the grip, not just the console
The indicator tells you when the accessory is nearing depletion. Once its battery is exhausted, the Switch 2 continues only on its internal battery. If you need uninterrupted play beyond both batteries, save at a convenient point and recharge the grip with your own charger and cable.
What “charge while playing” does—and does not—promise
The console can remain in an active game
Belkin’s “charge and play simultaneously” description means you do not have to suspend a game or put the console to sleep to receive power. The grip is intended for active handheld use, including the ergonomic support and balance that come from its integrated handles.
Charging speed is not fixed at 30 W
“Up to 30 W” is the grip’s maximum USB-C PD output, not a promise that the Switch 2 will draw 30 W continuously. Actual draw changes with the console’s operating state and the game being played. A demanding title may consume more of the incoming power than a low-load menu, reducing the net rate at which the console battery rises.

The grip does not create unlimited runtime
The up-to-1.5x recharge claim is an estimate under conditions Belkin does not present as a guaranteed result for every game or session. Conversion losses, the console’s own power use and battery age affect the outcome. Treat the figure as a ceiling for planning, not as a promise that every Switch 2 will receive one and a half complete charges.
Design features beyond the battery
Joy-Con removal without removing the grip
ENA019 is designed so you can remove the Joy-Cons without taking the entire charging grip off the console. That is useful when a game, multiplayer setup or accessory requires the controllers to come off while the console remains supported by the grip.
Kickstand support
The grip supports the Switch 2 kickstand, allowing tabletop positioning without detaching the accessory. This gives you a second play posture when handheld controls are not the preferred option.

Belkin describes the grip as dock compatible. Dock fit can depend on how the console and accessory are seated, so follow the guide and avoid forcing the hardware into a dock. The feature is intended to let you move between handheld and docked setups without treating the grip as a permanently handheld-only shell.

Switch 2-specific fit
Nintendo’s compatibility guidance distinguishes Switch 2 hardware and accessories from the original Switch ecosystem. ENA019 is designed exclusively for Switch 2, so do not assume that an original-Switch grip, case or connector arrangement will provide the same fit. Model-specific alignment is one of the main reasons to choose an integrated grip over a generic battery pack.
Integrated grip versus a separate USB-C power bank
A conventional power bank can also power a console during play, but it requires a cable and a way to carry or position the bank. The relevant trade-offs are fit, stability, controls, charging hardware and capacity rather than the word “battery” on the packaging.
| Comparison point | Belkin ENA019 | Separate USB-C power bank |
|---|---|---|
| Simultaneous charging during active play | Supported according to Belkin’s FAQ and user guide. | Depends on the bank’s USB-C output, cable and console compatibility; not stated for a generic bank. |
| Switch 2 fit and stability | Precision-fit shell designed for Switch 2. | Not stated; the bank is normally separate from the console and relies on a cable. |
| Published battery figures | 38.7 Wh; 10,000 mAh; up to 1.5x recharge estimate. | Not stated; varies by model and should be compared in watt-hours. |
| Power output | Up to 30 W USB-C PD. | Not stated; check the individual bank’s USB-C PD profile. |
| Ergonomics | Integrated non-slip grip and balanced handheld form. | Requires carrying and positioning a separate battery and cable. |
| Controller access | Joy-Cons can be removed without removing the grip. | Usually unchanged from the console, but cable placement can affect handling. |
| Kickstand and dock use | Belkin describes both as supported. | Not stated; depends on the case, cable and bank arrangement. |
| Charger included | No wall charger or separate cable in the package. | Varies by bank; verify contents before buying. |
| Warranty or support | Two-year warranty published by Belkin. | Varies by manufacturer and model. |
The integrated option is most compelling when you want a stable handheld shape, fewer loose parts and the ability to remove Joy-Cons without dismantling the setup. A separate bank may be more flexible if you already own several USB-C devices, want to share one battery among them or need a capacity that differs from the ENA019’s published rating.
Common limitations and how to avoid them
The grip is attached but the console is not charging
- Check the grip’s battery indicator; attachment alone cannot provide power from an empty battery.
- Remove and reseat the console so the grip is fully engaged and aligned.
- Inspect the USB-C connection for obstruction or damage, and use the hardware exactly as shown in Belkin’s guide.
- If the issue persists with a charged grip, stop using the accessory and contact Belkin support rather than forcing the connector.
The console still loses charge during a game
Charging input and console consumption occur at the same time. A demanding game can consume power while the grip is supplying it, so the console battery may rise slowly, hold steady or decline more slowly rather than increase rapidly. The grip’s role is to extend the session, not to guarantee a constant percentage increase.

The grip runs out sooner than expected
Use the 1.5x figure as an upper estimate. Game load, screen settings, wireless activity, battery age and conversion losses can reduce delivered energy. Start with a fully charged grip, and recharge it between sessions instead of relying on a partially depleted battery.
You expected a charger in the box
Belkin does not include a wall charger or separate cable with the product. Confirm that you already have compatible USB-C charging equipment before planning a trip or a long session.
Is the Belkin charging grip worth choosing?
Choose ENA019 when your priority is a Switch 2-specific handheld fit with an integrated battery, non-slip handles, removable Joy-Cons, kickstand support and stated dock compatibility. Its published 30 W USB-C PD output and simultaneous-play capability address the central handheld question directly.

In that case, verify USB-C PD output, cable quality, physical clearance and the bank’s warranty yourself; none of those values can be inferred from the generic term “power bank.”
Either way, the console’s own battery remains part of the system. The ENA019 extends handheld endurance while attached, but it does not turn the Switch 2 into a device with unlimited runtime.
