Yes. Satisfactory has an official dedicated-server tool for the desktop game. You can run it on a 64-bit Windows or Linux computer, keep the factory world online without a player’s game client acting as host, and let Steam and Epic Games Store players join the same server. Console dedicated-server support is not covered by the current setup documentation.
Godlike.Host offers hosted Satisfactory servers with its own game panel, SFTP access and free DDoS protection, if you would rather not host it yourself.
What a Satisfactory dedicated server is
A dedicated server runs Satisfactory’s multiplayer world as a separate server process. Players connect with their normal game clients, while the server computer loads the save, simulates the factory and handles connections. No particular player has to leave the game running as the host.

Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsThat makes a dedicated server useful for a persistent factory shared by a group. The world can remain available when the person who created it is offline. Epic Games Store describes the tool this way: “Our Dedicated Server tool gives players the ability to host their own dedicated servers, meaning you can keep building your factory even if your friends aren’t online!”
“Dedicated” does not mean automatic or maintenance-free. The machine running the process must stay powered and connected, and somebody must manage updates, firewall rules, save files, backups and restarts. A spare desktop, home server or virtual machine can fill that role if it meets the operating and hardware requirements.

Which platforms support dedicated servers?
Windows and Linux hosts
The dedicated-server binaries support 64-bit Windows and Linux on x86-64 hardware. The community setup guidance specifically excludes 32-bit and ARM systems. On Windows, Epic’s published requirements specify Windows 10 or later, 64-bit.
Linux is a supported host platform, but the cited documentation does not establish one universal distribution, package list or installation command. Use the current Satisfactory dedicated-server instructions for the Linux distribution you operate, and keep the server’s system packages and security updates current.
Steam and Epic clients can mix
A server installed through Steam, SteamCMD or the free Epic Games Store dedicated-server add-on can accept connections from both Steam and Epic game clients. The store used to obtain the server files does not lock the world to that ecosystem.
Console availability
The cited setup documentation says dedicated servers are unavailable for the console release. It does not state a plan to add console support later. Console players therefore should not assume that a desktop dedicated server can be used with their console version.
How the server changes multiplayer
The host is a process, not a player session
In ordinary hosted multiplayer, one player’s game client also performs the hosting work. If that player quits, the session normally ends or becomes unavailable. With a dedicated server, the server process owns the world session independently. Players may come and go while the process continues running.

Persistence and administration
The operator controls the server files and the save location. That provides direct access to configuration, update timing and recovery procedures, but it also creates responsibilities:
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →- Keep the host online and reachable when the group wants to play.
- Apply game-server updates and verify that clients are on a compatible version.
- Protect the server with host-firewall rules and, when necessary, router port forwarding.
- Back up saves before updates, experiments or major changes.
- Plan a clean shutdown and restart process so a power loss or crash does not become the only recovery method.
Performance depends on the workload
Published minimum specifications are a starting point, not a promise of a particular tick rate or player count. A large factory, a large save, more than four players, virtualization and other services sharing the machine can all reduce available headroom. Monitor CPU, memory, storage and network behavior rather than treating the minimum as a guaranteed target.
Dedicated-server hardware and operating requirements
The following figures combine Epic’s Windows listing with the community-maintained setup guidance that official Satisfactory support directs readers to. Epic’s store listing is dated 2021 and is still displayed on the store page, so treat it as a baseline and recheck requirements after major updates.
| Area | Published baseline | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Host architecture | 64-bit x86-64 | 32-bit and ARM systems are unsupported in the community guidance. |
| Windows operating system | Windows 10 or later, 64-bit | Epic’s Windows requirements. |
| CPU | Intel i5-3570 at 3.4 GHz, four cores | Epic’s minimum Windows figure. |
| Memory | 8 GB minimum | Epic’s minimum; community guidance says larger saves or more than four players may need 16 GB. |
| Memory target | 16 GB recommended | Epic’s recommended figure, not a performance guarantee. |
| Storage | 20 GB available; 20 GB SSD recommended | Epic’s Windows listing. Leave additional room for saves, updates and logs. |
| Internet | Broadband connection | Internet access is required for multiplayer; upload capacity and latency affect remote players. |
A Linux host still needs the same practical headroom even though the Windows table does not apply to its operating-system label. For a small world, 8 GB may be enough; a heavily developed save or a group larger than four players is a reason to choose 16 GB and leave capacity for the operating system and other services.
Network ports, firewall rules and reachability
The setup documentation identifies two port groups. The same port number is used with different protocols for different traffic:

| Port | Protocol | Purpose described in the setup documentation |
|---|---|---|
| 7777 | TCP | Server traffic and HTTPS API. |
| 7777 | UDP | Game traffic and query traffic. |
| 8888 | TCP | Reliable messaging. |
Players outside your local network generally need the server to be reachable from the internet. That usually means allowing the listed ports through the host operating system’s firewall and forwarding them from the router to the server’s local address. Reserve a stable local address for the server so a reboot does not send forwarding rules to the wrong machine.
Home networks with carrier-grade NAT or restrictive routers may not accept inbound connections even when firewall rules are correct. The setup page notes that a VPN can work in some home-hosting arrangements. A VPN is not a universal fix: every participant must use a compatible network path, and its security and performance depend on the service and configuration.
Port numbers and networking behavior can change with game updates. Recheck the current setup documentation after a major patch rather than copying an old port list from a forum post.
How to install a Satisfactory dedicated server
There are three supported distribution routes. The files are functionally usable across the two PC storefronts, so choose the route that best fits how you administer the machine.
Recommended Free Tools
Option 1: Steam client tools
- Open the Steam client on the account that has access to the dedicated-server tool.
- Open the Library and use the Tools filter.
- Find Satisfactory’s dedicated-server entry and install it to the disk that will hold the server files and saves.
- Apply the current setup instructions for first launch, server configuration, firewall allowances and save selection.
This route is convenient on a machine that already uses the graphical Steam client. It also makes ordinary Steam library updates familiar, but it leaves the desktop client as part of the administration environment.

- Disclaimer: Maximum Speed requires overclocking/PC BIOS adjustments. Maximum speed and performance depend on system components, including motherboard and CPU
- Hand-sorted memory chips ensure high performance with generous overclocking headroom
- VENGEANCE LPX is optimized for wide compatibility with the latest Intel and AMD DDR4 motherboards
- A low-profile height of just 34mm ensures that VENGEANCE LPX even fits in most small-form-factor builds
- A solid aluminum heatspreader efficiently dissipates heat from each module so that they consistently run at high clock speeds
Option 2: SteamCMD
- Install SteamCMD on the 64-bit Windows or Linux host.
- Use the current Satisfactory server installation instructions to select the application, install its files and choose the destination directory.
- Use the documented update procedure whenever the game server receives a release.
- If you use an experimental branch, apply only the branch flag and command shown in the current documentation; branch-specific syntax can change.
SteamCMD is suited to a headless machine because it does not require a full graphical Steam client. Do not reuse an experimental-branch command for a production world without confirming which branch your players are running.
Option 3: Epic Games Store add-on
- Open the Epic Games Store client on the account used to administer the host.
- Add the free Satisfactory Dedicated Server tool listed by Coffee Stain Studios.
- Install it to the server storage location.
- Complete the current setup steps for first launch, networking, saves and updates.
Epic-distributed server files can still serve Steam clients, just as Steam-distributed files can serve Epic clients.

- Confirm the host is 64-bit and has enough memory for the save and number of players.
- Choose a dedicated directory for server files, saves and logs, with the listed storage allowance plus working space.
- Allow TCP 7777, UDP 7777 and TCP 8888 in the host firewall as required by the current setup documentation.
- Forward the same ports on the router if internet players will connect directly.
- Start the server and verify local connectivity before troubleshooting internet access.
- Have every player connect using the address and port format required by the current game version.
- Make a backup of the initial save location before inviting the whole group.
Connecting Steam and Epic players
There is no need to maintain separate worlds for the two PC storefronts. A Steam client and an Epic Games Store client can connect to the same dedicated server, regardless of where the server binaries were downloaded. The practical requirements remain the same: compatible game versions, a reachable server and any authentication or connection details required by the current release.
If one group member cannot join while others can, check version alignment first, then test whether the failure is limited to an external network. A local connection working while an internet connection fails usually points to router forwarding, firewall policy, NAT or the advertised address rather than the storefront.

You can operate the server yourself or pay a hosting company to operate the machine. The cited technical documentation establishes what a host must provide, but it does not establish any particular provider’s price, uptime, backup policy or regional availability.
Best Value
- Complies with JEDEC standards
- Low voltage of 1.2V for less power consumption
- Strict test and verification procedures are performed for products
- Timing 22-22-22-52
- Backed by a lifetime warranty to promise complete services and technical support
| Consideration | Self-hosting | Managed hosting |
|---|---|---|
| Control | Direct access to files, configuration and update timing. | Less direct control because the provider manages the service environment. |
| Operational work | You handle the operating system, firewall, restarts, updates and recovery. | The provider may handle much of the operating-system, network, restart and update work; verify exactly what is included. |
| Cost shape | Uses existing hardware and electricity. | Adds a recurring hosting fee. |
| Reachability | Home hosting may require router forwarding or a VPN. | A hosted service normally supplies an internet endpoint, subject to its network design. |
| Recovery | You must create and test your own backups. | Scheduled restarts or backups may be available, but they must be confirmed in the provider’s terms. |
Self-hosting is attractive when you already have a reliable always-on computer and want complete control. Managed hosting is mainly a convenience choice for groups that do not want to maintain a machine or troubleshoot home-network reachability.
Troubleshooting common connection and stability problems
The server works locally but not over the internet
- Confirm the server has a stable local IP address.
- Check host-firewall rules for TCP 7777, UDP 7777 and TCP 8888.
- Verify router forwarding uses the correct internal address and protocol.
- Check whether the internet connection uses carrier-grade NAT, which can block inbound forwarding.
- Try the VPN approach described by the setup documentation if it fits your group.
Players see a version or compatibility error
Update the server and every client to compatible releases. If the server uses an experimental branch, all required participants must use the matching branch. Do not assume that a server update completed merely because the launcher downloaded files; confirm the installed build before restarting the world.
The server runs out of memory or becomes unstable
Compare actual use with the 8 GB minimum and 16 GB recommendation. Large saves and groups of more than four players may need 16 GB or more practical headroom. Stop unrelated services, move the server to faster storage if disk activity is a bottleneck, and monitor the host while the factory is under its normal load.
A crash or power loss damages the world
Stop the server cleanly when possible, keep dated copies of the save outside the live directory and test restoring a backup on a separate instance. Back up before changing branches or applying a major update. A backup that has never been restored is only an assumption, not a recovery plan.
What to verify before inviting a group
- The machine is 64-bit x86-64 and meets the Windows or Linux host requirements.
- The server can remain powered and connected during the times players expect to use it.
- TCP 7777, UDP 7777 and TCP 8888 are allowed where the current setup page requires them.
- The router, firewall and any VPN arrangement have been tested by someone outside the host’s local network.
- The save directory is backed up and the restore procedure is understood.
- Steam and Epic players are on compatible client versions.
- Everyone knows the server address and any access controls configured by the operator.
Official Satisfactory support directs readers to the community-maintained wiki for detailed dedicated-server setup information. Because installation commands and network behavior are update-sensitive, use that current documentation for release-specific syntax rather than relying on an archived guide.
