That is a statement about documentation, not proof that a hidden option can never appear. Rockstar could add a setting, or a console platform could document a new control, but neither possibility is confirmed by the current rating record.

This distinction matters because online discussions often treat an age rating as if it were a list of switches. It is not. The ESRB record tells consumers what kinds of content contributed to, or are relevant to, the classification. It does not promise a censorship mode, a scene-by-scene choice, or an option to make the game suitable for a younger player.

The ESRB database lists Grand Theft Auto VI for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series, with Rockstar Games named as publisher. The record assigns an M (Mature 17+) rating and gives these content descriptors:

The ESRB’s ratings guide explains that content descriptors “indicate content that may have triggered a particular rating and/or may be of interest or concern.” In other words, “Nudity” and “Strong Sexual Content” are warning information for consumers. They are not controls, and they do not indicate that the player can turn those elements off.
What the ESRB entry does not tell you
The rating record does not describe a settings menu, optional-censorship mode, parental switch, or account-level setting that removes mature scenes. It also does not say how often nudity appears, in what context it occurs, whether it is interactive, or whether it is limited to a particular mission or location. A descriptor cannot answer those scene-level questions.
It is equally important not to read the record as proof that every listed element is optional or constantly present. The entry establishes that the ESRB considered those categories relevant to the rating. It does not provide a content schedule or guarantee that a particular scene can be skipped. Any article, video or social-media post claiming a guaranteed “nudity off” mode needs a primary source such as an official settings guide, support article or an accessible in-game menu.

Why “no filter” is the responsible answer today
There are two different questions hidden in “Does GTA 6 have a nudity filter?” The first is whether the game’s rating mentions nudity. It does: Nudity is an explicit descriptor. The second is whether the player can disable it. The available official record does not answer yes to that second question.

That is why the precise answer is “No nudity filter has been officially documented.” Saying simply “GTA 6 has no nudity” would contradict the rating. Saying “GTA 6 definitely has a censor setting” would go beyond the evidence. Until a documented control appears, parents and players should plan on the mature content being part of the game rather than assuming it can be removed.
What parents can and cannot assume
The ESRB rating is a warning, not a permission system
An M rating is intended for mature audiences. The descriptor list helps a parent understand why the game received that rating, but it does not enforce a household rule and does not transform the game into a younger-rated edition. A console account may have age or purchase restrictions, yet those are different from changing the content inside a game that has already been allowed to run.
Do not confuse an age gate with content removal
A password prompt, birth-date check or family-account restriction can prevent access. None of those mechanisms proves that nudity or sexual scenes have been deleted after access is granted. If a future screen asks for confirmation before launching the game, treat it as an access control unless the accompanying documentation explicitly says it filters scenes.
Expect platform differences unless documentation says otherwise
The ESRB listing covers PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series. It does not establish that a content control, if one eventually appears, will behave identically on both consoles. A setting could be implemented by Rockstar inside the game, by a platform’s family-safety system, or by both. Those approaches have different scopes and protections, so a control shown on one console should not automatically be assumed to exist on the other.

How to verify a real filter if one is announced
When Rockstar or a console maker publishes new information, use this checklist before relying on the feature:
- Identify the publisher of the information. Prefer a Rockstar support page, an official game manual, or PlayStation or Xbox support documentation. A screenshot without a source is not enough.
- Read the exact function. Look for language such as “hide,” “disable,” or “remove” rather than “warn,” “restrict access,” or “confirm age.” The latter terms usually describe gates, not censorship.
- Check the scope. Determine whether the setting applies to single-player, online play, cutscenes, gameplay encounters, or only specific effects. “Mature content” can cover several categories, while a nudity control may address only one.
- Check whether it is global. A setting that affects one scene, one profile or one mode is not the same as a game-wide filter.
- Check account protection. For a parental use case, verify whether a child can change the option without a parent PIN or another account-level safeguard.
- Confirm console availability. Verify that the documented feature works on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series if you need the same behavior across consoles.
- Test after updates. A patch can add, rename or relocate settings. Use the current version’s documentation and inspect the menu on the account that will actually play.
Questions the rating cannot answer
Can you turn off nudity in GTA 6?
There is no officially documented in-game option confirming that you can. The rating confirms that nudity is among the game’s mature-content descriptors, but it does not describe a switch to disable it.
Can parents disable sex scenes?
No official source in the material available here confirms a parent-controlled setting that removes sexual scenes. Console family controls may govern access to a game or account, but that is not evidence of scene-level filtering inside GTA VI.

No. A descriptor identifies a category relevant to the rating; it does not quantify frequency or say that the content appears continuously. The ESRB entry provides no scene-by-scene breakdown.

Is there a separate censored edition?
The ESRB record does not mention a censored or family edition. It lists the standard game record for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series. Do not assume that a retailer label, regional release or account setting represents a different content version without an official description.
Does the answer change between single-player and online modes?
No mode-specific filter is documented in the available official information. If Rockstar later publishes a control, check whether it covers both modes; the rating record itself does not make that distinction.

Rumors commonly arise from trailers, previews, leaked menus or settings from earlier games. Those materials can suggest possibilities but cannot establish a GTA VI feature. A screenshot might show a subtitle, accessibility or parental option without revealing what it controls. Likewise, a video that skips a scene does not prove that the scene was filtered; the player may simply have chosen a different path or edited the footage.
Look for three pieces of evidence together: a clearly identified game version, an unedited view of the setting and a description from Rockstar or the relevant platform holder. Without all three, describe the claim as unverified. This approach also prevents a setting for language, blood effects or online communication from being mislabeled as a nudity filter.

What to check when official documentation appears
Before buying or allowing access, open the current support documentation for the specific console and region. Confirm the game’s listed platform, the account’s family settings and whether any option is available before starting the game. If no official control is listed, make the household decision using the M 17+ rating and its descriptors rather than relying on promises of a future patch.
For the versions currently listed by the ESRB, that means treating the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series releases as mature-rated products that include nudity and strong sexual content. The record does not list a PC edition, and it supplies no separate settings information for another platform or edition. Availability and controls can change, so an official update should replace assumptions when one is published.
Bottom line for players and parents
Grand Theft Auto VI is officially rated M for Mature 17+ with Nudity and Strong Sexual Content among its descriptors.
