The Nintendo Switch 2 version of FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE includes FF7R EPISODE INTERmission, the Yuffie Kisaragi side story. You do not need to buy Intermission separately when you purchase the Switch 2 Intergrade package.
What is included in the Switch 2 version?
Nintendo’s official UK product listing identifies two major pieces of content in the Nintendo Switch 2 release: the full FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE campaign and FF7R EPISODE INTERmission. The listing describes Intermission as a side story starring Yuffie Kisaragi that runs in parallel with Cloud’s journey.

That wording answers the purchase question directly. Intermission is listed as part of the Switch 2 product’s contents, rather than as an optional add-on, download code or separate product that must be purchased afterward.
Nintendo Japan’s announcement dated 22 January 2026 confirms the same package structure: the Switch 2 release contains both the Cloud-led remake and the Yuffie-led Intermission episode. The Nintendo Creator’s Voice feature also identifies Intermission as Yuffie’s episode and explains that it provides a different perspective on events taking place alongside Cloud’s story.

Do you need to buy Intermission separately?
No. For the Nintendo Switch 2 edition specifically sold as FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE, Intermission is included in the product contents shown by Nintendo. A separate Intermission purchase is therefore not required to access Yuffie’s episode in that package.
When checking a retailer or regional Nintendo store, verify that the listing is for the Switch 2 version of INTERGRADE, not a different release of FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE. The inclusion described here applies to the Switch 2 product listing covered by Nintendo’s announcements. Store pages can use abbreviated titles, so the product’s platform and included-content section matter more than the headline alone.
What exactly is FF7R EPISODE Intermission?
Intermission is a side story built around Yuffie Kisaragi. It takes place in parallel with Cloud’s main journey, so it is designed to add another viewpoint to the remake’s events rather than replace the main campaign.
Nintendo’s product copy calls it “a side story starring Yuffie Kisaragi” and says it offers a fresh perspective running in parallel to Cloud’s journey. That makes the distinction useful when planning your playthrough:

- Includes Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade with Yuffie’s Episode INTERmission. No physical cartridge, download license key only.
- Play Booster containing 15 random Magic: The Gathering Final Fantasy cards included.
- Hybrid real-time and command-based combat system with materia, summons, and limit breaks.
- Explore expanded Midgar environments, new quests, and mini-games.
- Fully remastered, orchestrated soundtrack that responds dynamically to the action.
- Main campaign: the full remake story led by Cloud.
- Intermission: the Yuffie-focused episode included in the same Switch 2 Intergrade product.
The official descriptions do not present Intermission as a separate full remake or as a replacement for Cloud’s campaign. It is additional story content within the Intergrade package.
Intermission inclusion versus Day One bonuses
One source of confusion is the difference between included game content and edition-specific merchandise. Square Enix’s Switch 2 store page distinguishes a Day One Edition from the Standard Edition and states that the limited in-box Day One bonus is not included with Standard.
That bonus distinction does not change Nintendo’s listing of Intermission as part of the game’s contents. In other words, do not interpret the absence of a Day One bonus as the absence of Yuffie’s episode.

| Item | What the official information establishes | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| Switch 2 FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE | Nintendo lists the full remake and FF7R EPISODE Intermission in the product contents. | It does not provide current retailer price or stock information. |
| Intermission | Included Yuffie side story running parallel to Cloud’s journey. | It is not described as a separately required purchase for this package. |
| Day One Edition | Square Enix identifies a limited in-box bonus for this edition. | The reviewed listing does not establish the bonus’s current availability at every retailer. |
| Standard Edition | Square Enix says the limited Day One in-box bonus is not included. | The reviewed information does not say that Standard removes Intermission from the game contents. |
If your priority is Yuffie’s episode, the key check is the Nintendo Switch 2 Intergrade product and its included-content list. If you also want the limited physical bonus, then the edition label becomes relevant.

Release date and regional qualifications
Nintendo UK lists 22 January 2026 as the release date for the Switch 2 product. Nintendo Japan’s announcement is also dated 22 January 2026 and confirms that both stories are included.
A date shown on a UK or Japanese page should not automatically be treated as the date for every territory. Retailer launch dates, shipping dates and digital-store availability can vary by region. Before ordering, check the Nintendo store for your country and the local product page’s release information.
The regional qualification affects when and where you can obtain the product; it does not change the inclusion stated in the official Switch 2 product descriptions. If a local listing appears incomplete, use its detailed contents section or the regional Nintendo support page rather than assuming that an abbreviated title means Intermission is missing.
Is there a demo, and does it include Intermission?
Nintendo Canada announced a free demo containing the first chapter and said that save data can carry over to the full game. That announcement is regional store information, so availability and the exact download listing should be checked in the reader’s local Nintendo store.

- Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade – The Ultimate Complete Strategy & Walkthrough Guide (New 2026 Edition) is the most comprehensive, up-to-date, and definitive companion every Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade player needs
The demo announcement should not be confused with the contents of the paid Intergrade package. The demo is a limited trial of the game; Nintendo’s product listing is the source that establishes the full package and its included Intermission episode. The available information does not say that the Canadian demo contains the complete Yuffie episode.
If you use the Canadian demo where it is offered, retain the save data on the same Nintendo account and console profile you intend to use with the full game. Nintendo Canada’s announcement says the data can carry over, but the reviewed material does not establish that this transfer statement applies identically to every country’s store listing.

Use this checklist when a retailer’s page does not make the contents obvious:
Recommended Free Tools
- Confirm the platform. The listing should identify Nintendo Switch 2, not another console or an older version.
- Confirm the product name. Look for FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE, rather than a listing that names only the base remake without the Intergrade designation.
- Open the contents or edition details. The Nintendo description lists both the full remake and “FF7R EPISODE Intermission (Episode featuring Yuffie Kisaragi).”
- Separate episode access from bonuses. A Day One label concerns the limited in-box bonus described by Square Enix; it is not the name of the Yuffie episode.
- Check your region. Confirm the local release date, language information and digital or physical format shown by your regional store.
- Check demo information separately. If you are relying on a demo or save transfer, verify that feature in your own country’s Nintendo store.
This process is more reliable than judging from a product thumbnail or a short retailer headline, which may omit included-content details.

What the official information does—and does not—confirm
The official pages establish the central inclusion claim and the basic identity of the episode. They do not establish a current universal price, retailer stock level, or a single worldwide availability date. Those details change by territory and seller and should be read from the live local listing.
The materials also do not provide performance measurements, frame-rate testing, resolution figures or hands-on technical comparisons for the Switch 2 version. The inclusion answer comes from Nintendo’s product descriptions and announcements, not from an independent performance test.
Likewise, no player-count, sales, review-score or other numerical statistic is needed to answer whether Intermission is included. The relevant evidence is the official contents list itself.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsWhy the answer matters for buyers
Intermission is often the specific reason a reader searches for the Intergrade edition. Knowing that it is included prevents an unnecessary second purchase and helps distinguish the complete Switch 2 package from listings that describe only the main remake.
The edition distinction still matters if you are collecting physical releases or want the limited Day One bonus. Square Enix’s information indicates that Standard does not contain that bonus, while Nintendo’s product information identifies Intermission as part of the Switch 2 game contents. Treat those as two separate buying decisions:
- Choose the Switch 2 Intergrade product to obtain the remake and Yuffie’s Intermission episode together.
- Choose a Day One edition only if the limited in-box bonus is important and the edition is available in your region.
Because the reviewed sources do not establish current stock or pricing, compare the live local listings at the time of purchase rather than relying on an old retailer page.
Bottom line for the Switch 2 release
FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE on Nintendo Switch 2 includes FF7R EPISODE INTERmission. It is the Yuffie Kisaragi side story that runs alongside Cloud’s campaign, and Nintendo lists it together with the full remake in the product contents. You do not need to purchase Intermission separately for that Switch 2 package. The Day One bonus described by Square Enix is a separate edition extra, and regional release dates or demo availability should be checked in the local Nintendo store.
