The direct answer
You can use the game’s travel systems without budgeting a separate travel currency. No published source reports a charge for mana, healing items, flasks, or money when Rose travels. That is an evidence-based description of the documented mechanics, not a guarantee that a future patch or edition could never change them.

There are two ways to move between areas:
- Ferryman’s Wharf: a boat-based network connecting Wharf locations you have already entered.
- Mirrors of Life: magical travel points that send Rose to the Hall of Mirrors, where she can select an unlocked mirror.
The Mirror system has a trade-off that the Ferryman route does not independently document: touching or resting at a Mirror of Life saves, heals, refills flasks, and establishes the respawn point, while nearby roaming enemies can respawn. In other words, the resource effect is positive immediately, but the route around the mirror may become dangerous again.

How the two travel systems work
Ferryman’s Wharf
After the relevant Death encounter, locate the Ferryman and use the blue Wharf doors. The Ferryman can carry Rose between Wharfs at locations she has already entered. This is transportation rather than a shop transaction: published descriptions do not report a separate fare or a consumable being deducted.
Ferryman travel is therefore the lower-risk option when your goal is simply to change regions without deliberately activating a healing checkpoint. The available destinations still depend on exploration; a Wharf you have not reached cannot be selected merely because you know it exists.
Mirrors of Life and the Hall of Mirrors
Activate a Mirror of Life, then crouch by holding down in front of it. Rose enters the Hall of Mirrors, a hub from which she can choose an unlocked mirror. Only mirrors that have been activated during exploration are available as destinations.
A mirror is more than a doorway. Its interaction also functions as a save and rest point. That combined role explains why using one can alter the state of nearby enemies even though the act of teleporting has no reported fee.

What happens to your resources
Fast travel itself is not documented as consuming a resource. The Mirror interaction instead gives resources back:
- Health is fully restored.
- Flasks are refilled.
- The game saves and changes the point used after death.
- No published mechanic deducts mana, potion charges, or money solely for selecting a travel destination.
Because no source reports a travel charge, avoid treating fast travel as an expense in the same way as buying an item or casting a spell. You can still spend resources before or after the journey—for example, by healing during a fight—but the movement command itself has no reported cost.
The practical cost is positional. If you use a Mirror to recover, the nearby route may no longer be clear. You have traded an empty path for a full health bar and refreshed flasks. That is often worthwhile before a boss attempt, but less attractive when you are trying to preserve a carefully cleared corridor for a return trip.
Why a Mirror can make enemies return
Published mechanics descriptions attach the enemy reset to touching or resting at a Mirror of Life. Nearby roaming enemies can come back when the mirror is used as a checkpoint. The available evidence does not describe a universal rule in which every teleport, everywhere in the game, repopulates every enemy.

That wording resolves an apparent contradiction between two common observations:
- You can arrive at a destination without paying a travel fee.
- You may find roaming enemies near a mirror again after using the mirror to heal, save, or set the respawn point.
The safest interpretation is to separate the interaction into its functions. Entering the Hall of Mirrors is the transportation step. Touching or resting at the Mirror is the checkpoint step that restores resources and can repopulate nearby roaming enemies. Since the game presents these functions together, players may reasonably experience them as one action, but the documented reset is not evidence of a standalone “teleport costs enemies” rule.
Mirror reset versus death reset
If you die
GamesRadar’s account says ordinary enemies respawn after Rose dies. A death therefore explains why a previously cleared combat room is occupied again, even if you never used a mirror. Respawning after death is broader than the mirror-specific description because it is tied to the death event rather than to a particular travel node.

The mechanics descriptions give the mirror four linked effects: save, full healing, flask refill, and respawn-point selection. Nearby roaming enemies can return as part of that checkpoint interaction. This can happen even when Rose has not died.

If you simply re-enter a cleared room
According to the review account, a room remains cleared when you leave and re-enter it without dying. Ordinary backtracking alone is therefore not enough to explain a reset. Check whether you died or whether you recently used a nearby Mirror as a checkpoint.

The table describes documented behavior, not an exhaustive list of every internal condition. In particular, the absence of a reported Ferryman reset should not be expanded into a claim that no update could ever alter it.
Step-by-step: travelling without an unwanted surprise
Before using a Ferryman
- Confirm that you have already entered the destination Wharf; the network is limited to places Rose has visited.
- Find the Ferryman after the relevant Death encounter.
- Use a blue Wharf door and choose an available Wharf.
- Continue from the destination without assuming that the trip healed Rose or changed her checkpoint.
Before using a Mirror
- Finish any nearby cleanup you want to preserve. A mirror checkpoint can bring nearby roaming enemies back.
- Approach an activated Mirror of Life.
- Hold down to crouch and enter the Hall of Mirrors.
- Select an unlocked destination mirror.
- After arrival, account for the mirror’s save, healing, flask refill, and respawn-point effects when planning your next route.
If you need healing before a difficult section, the reset may be a favorable exchange. If you are returning through a corridor that you deliberately cleared, use the route only when the recovery benefit outweighs the extra fights.
Common situations and the correct explanation
“Did fast travel use my mana or potions?”
No published cost is reported for selecting a destination. A reduced supply is more likely to come from combat, spell use, or another action than from the travel command itself. Mirror use restores health and refills flasks rather than consuming them.

“I teleported and enemies were back. Did teleporting cause it?”
Not necessarily. If the destination or departure point was a Mirror of Life, the checkpoint interaction can respawn nearby roaming enemies. The evidence does not show that every teleport universally resets every enemy.
“Do I have to refight an entire room after using a Mirror?”
Only nearby roaming enemies are specifically described as returning. A blanket rule that every enemy in every previously cleared room comes back is not established. The exact encounter layout can depend on proximity to the mirror and the enemy type.
“Is the reset caused by saving or by travelling?”
The documented mechanics combine saving, resting, healing, flask refilling, and respawn-point selection at the Mirror. Because those functions occur together, the source material does not isolate a separate technical trigger for each one. For play purposes, treat using the Mirror as the event that can reset nearby roaming enemies, not the mere existence of a travel destination.

“I did not use a Mirror, but enemies returned.”
Check whether Rose died since the last clear. Ordinary enemies are reported to respawn after death, while a room can remain clear during ordinary re-entry when no death occurred.
Practical decision rule
- Choose the Ferryman when you want regional movement and want to avoid deliberately activating a Mirror checkpoint.
- Choose a Mirror when full healing, fresh flasks, a save, or a new respawn point is more valuable than keeping nearby roaming enemies defeated.
- Do not spend time farming a travel fee: no published source reports one for either travel system.
- Do not assume a teleport-wide reset: distinguish the Mirror checkpoint effect from death and from ordinary room re-entry.
