Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV is announced with four full faction campaigns, more than 70 missions, and solo or co-op play. KING Art Games says this makes it the biggest single-player RTS offering at launch, but that comparison is the developer’s claim—not a verified industry record.
What Dawn of War IV has announced for its campaigns
KING Art Games announced four full campaigns, one for each playable faction: Orks, Adeptus Mechanicus, Necrons, and Space Marines. Each campaign is playable solo or cooperatively with a friend. Games Workshop’s Warhammer Community announcement describes the story as spanning more than 70 campaign missions and names Black Library author John French as its writer. The campaigns are set on Kronus.

The figures are announced scope, not independently tested results. KING Art’s August 19, 2025 announcement also describes the game as its biggest project to date and says it will be the biggest Dawn of War at launch. The studio separately announced more than 110 units and buildings and over 40 minutes of fully animated in-game cinematics; those figures provide context for the game’s overall scale, but they do not measure campaign length.

What makes the campaigns more than four separate faction stories?
In an August 2025 interview with PC Gamer, KING Art Creative Director and Game Director Jan Theysen described the campaigns as one of the game’s central pillars. He said the studio wanted a substantial campaign for each faction, with optional missions and decisions that matter to the story’s progression. PC Gamer also reports that the game includes a tutorial alongside the four campaigns.
#1 Best Overall
The announcement establishes that optional missions and consequential decisions are planned, but it does not quantify how many missions are optional or explain how much the story changes with each choice. The 70-plus figure refers to campaign missions as described by Warhammer Community; the sources do not say whether the tutorial is included in that count.
Is it really more single-player content than every other RTS at launch?
That remains a developer comparison, not an established statistic. PCGamesN’s report frames the claim as KING Art’s position. The available announcements give concrete numbers for Dawn of War IV, but do not define a standard measure of “single-player content” or compare launch editions across the RTS genre.

- This game is an imported version, It is not guaranteed that French will be available in the game options
A fair genre-wide test would need to compare like with like: campaign count, announced mission total, solo availability, optional or branching missions, and whether tutorials or post-launch content are included. Without comparable launch data for other RTS games, it is not possible to verify that Dawn of War IV exceeds every one of them. The safer conclusion is that its announced four faction campaigns and 70-plus missions represent an ambitious campaign offering, while the “more than any other RTS” wording should be attributed to the developer.
