New Game Plus has not been directly confirmed by the official and store pages reviewed, so the safest answer is that its status remains unverified. The story has two reported endings, and the final choice determines which conclusion you see. The game’s lead writer has said neither ending is correct, official, or canon.
Feature summary
| Feature | What is established | What that means for players |
|---|---|---|
| Multiplayer | Steam lists Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 as single-player. | Do not expect online co-op, local co-op, or a multiplayer campaign. |
| New Game Plus | No direct confirmation was found on the official publisher, PlayStation, or Steam pages reviewed. | Treat New Game Plus as unverified rather than assuming it exists or is absent. |
| Multiple endings | Coverage describes two endings associated with Maelle and Verso. | A late-game choice determines which conclusion you see. |
The party system can make the game look like a cooperative adventure at first glance, but it is still a traditional solo RPG. You recruit and control characters yourself. The distinction matters if you are buying the game for a friend or expecting a shared campaign.

Does Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 have multiplayer?
No. The Steam store listing identifies Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 as a single-player game. That is the clearest platform-level answer available: the game is designed for one player rather than for online or split-screen cooperation.
A playable party is not the same as co-op
The official PlayStation overview describes a party of recruitable characters. In an RPG, that means the game gives one player access to several heroes who can be selected, developed, and used in combat. It does not mean that each character can be assigned to a human teammate.

- Explore an enchanting realm populated by adversaries; Wander through breathtaking landscapes, from Island of Visages to the Forgotten Battlefield

You should therefore separate two ideas:
- Party-based combat: one player directs a group of characters with different abilities.
- Multiplayer co-op: two or more people connect locally or online and control separate characters.
Expedition 33 is described in the first category, not the second. Neither the Steam feature list nor the official PlayStation material reviewed advertises online co-op, local multiplayer, competitive modes, or a shared-world component.
How the combat system fits a solo game
PlayStation describes the game as a turn-based RPG with real-time actions, including dodging, parrying, and counterattacking. Those timing elements can make battles feel active, but they do not turn the game into a multiplayer title. The player still makes the tactical decisions and performs the reactive actions for the party.
That design is useful context when comparing Expedition 33 with cooperative RPGs. You can build a team, switch attention among its members, and respond to enemy attacks in real time, yet every decision remains under a single player’s control. A friend can watch or take turns informally, but there is no documented game mode in which another account joins your expedition.

What is not included in the multiplayer answer
Single-player does not tell you whether the game requires an internet connection, supports cloud saves, or includes social features supplied by a platform. Those are separate technical questions. The available listings establish the player count, not every connectivity behavior. For the question most buyers ask—whether two people can play the campaign together—the answer is no based on the single-player designation.
Does Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 have New Game Plus?
New Game Plus is not verified by the official publisher page, the official PlayStation page, or the Steam information reviewed for this question. That is different from a confirmed “no.” Store pages often omit optional post-game systems, so silence cannot prove that the mode is absent.

What can safely be said
No authoritative description in the reviewed material promises a New Game Plus run with carried-over levels, equipment, abilities, collectibles, or difficulty changes. You should not purchase the game on the assumption that such a mode is guaranteed.
At the same time, the absence of a New Game Plus label is not enough to conclude that the developers deliberately excluded it. A mode may be documented in an in-game menu, a patch note, a support article, or a later announcement rather than on a storefront page. The evidence available here does not identify any of those sources as confirming or denying it.

“No New Game Plus” and “New Game Plus has not been confirmed” lead to different buying decisions. The first is a factual claim that requires a direct statement or an authoritative feature list. The second accurately describes the current evidence without turning an omission into a promise or a denial.
If a second run is important to you, check the latest official game documentation or the title’s current in-game options before starting your first campaign. Look specifically for a developer announcement or a menu option that explains what carries over. Do not infer the answer from the presence of multiple endings: a branching story can exist with or without a formal New Game Plus mode.
New Game Plus versus replaying an ending
A second story conclusion is not automatically New Game Plus. Expedition 33’s reported ending structure concerns the narrative outcome chosen near the finale. New Game Plus normally refers to a separate replay mode in which a completed save unlocks a new run with some progress retained or new rules applied. The two concepts should be evaluated independently.

The available descriptions do not establish whether the game offers chapter select, a post-ending continuation, a save rewind before the final decision, or any other convenience for viewing both conclusions. If you want to preserve the option of seeing the other ending, make a manual save before any irreversible final choice when the game allows one—but the exact save behavior is not documented in the material reviewed.
Does the game have multiple endings?
Spoiler warning: The following section discusses the existence and framing of the finale choices. It avoids scene-by-scene details, but it does reveal that the story has two reported conclusions and identifies the characters associated with them.
Two reported conclusions
Reporting from GamesRadar and PC Gamer describes two endings centered on Maelle and Verso. The final choice determines which conclusion the player sees. This is a genuine branching outcome, not merely a different line of dialogue before the same ending sequence.
The coverage characterizes the alternatives as morally and emotionally mixed. Neither path is presented as a simple good ending versus bad ending, and the material reviewed does not support labeling one outcome as the “true” reward for playing correctly.
There is no official or canon ending
Jennifer Svedberg-Yen, identified by GamesRadar as the game’s lead writer, explicitly rejected the idea that one conclusion is official. She said: “I tell everyone there is no correct ending, there is no canon ending, there is no official Sandfall ending.” She also explained that both endings were included for a reason, that each was designed deliberately, and that neither is perfect.

- This is KOEAN VERSION released in South Korea. Region Free title so you can play it on your system.
- Language: Korean, English, Japanese, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish
PC Gamer reported a similar explanation, describing the endings as “equally valid” and dependent on whose good or whose happily-ever-after the player prioritizes. The outlet also quoted Svedberg-Yen calling it a “Schrodinger’s ending.” Those comments are important because they describe the developers’ intent, not just a fan interpretation of the finale.
What the final choice changes
The established consequence is the conclusion itself: selecting the relevant path determines whether you receive the Maelle-associated or Verso-associated ending. The available reporting does not provide a complete technical list of every earlier quest, reward, scene, or combat change caused by the choice, so it would be misleading to claim that one route alters the whole game in a particular way.
It is also not established whether the game lets you return directly to the decision, unlocks a chapter-select feature, or continues from a post-ending state. If you want to experience both outcomes without relying on an unconfirmed replay feature, keeping a separate save before the final point is the least assumption-heavy approach, provided the game permits manual saves there.

What each answer means for your purchase
If you want a co-op RPG
Do not choose Expedition 33 expecting a friend to join your party. Its recruitable characters are companions directed by one player, and the Steam listing’s single-player label is the relevant evidence.
If you care about a second, powered-up campaign
Wait for a direct developer or platform confirmation of New Game Plus rather than treating the feature as included. The currently reviewed official descriptions do not settle the question.
If you enjoy branching stories
The game does provide two reported conclusions, with the decisive choice framed around Maelle and Verso. The lead writer’s comments make clear that the developers do not intend players to identify one route as the canon answer.

The names and narrative framing above are the only spoiler-level information needed to make a purchase decision without discussing specific scenes or outcomes.
Bottom line
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a solo, party-based RPG rather than a multiplayer game. New Game Plus has not been confirmed in the official and store material reviewed, so its status should remain open instead of being described as present or absent. The story has two reported endings linked to a final Maelle-or-Verso decision, and the lead writer says neither ending is correct, official, or canon.
