A save begun on Steam or Windows should not be expected to appear in the PS5 edition, and a PS5 run cannot be moved to PC through an official transfer feature.
The short answer
PC and PS5 use separate save ecosystems for Blue Prince. Buying the game on PS5 does not provide a documented way to continue a Steam or Windows save, and starting on PS5 does not create a PC copy of that progress.

Raw Fury’s pinned Blue Prince FAQ, published April 10, 2025, states: “Blue Prince does not have cross-save except in the same ecosystem e.g. Steam to Steam Deck and Windows/Xbox.” The wording is important: cross-save is available only for the same ecosystem combinations identified by the developer, not between PC and PlayStation.
What “cross-save” means in this case
Cross-save, also called cross-progression, means that the same game progress is available on more than one platform. For example, you might play on a Windows PC, open the game on a compatible second device, and continue from the same rooms, discoveries, unlocks or run state without starting over.

That is different from owning the game on two platforms, signing into the same publisher account, or having a save system on each device. Unless the developer explicitly connects those platforms, each platform keeps its own progress. A PC and PS5 installation can therefore both contain saves while remaining completely separate.
Which platform combinations are supported?

The examples describe ecosystem relationships, not a universal promise that every device sharing a storefront account will synchronize every file. A Steam save and a Steam Deck save are the supported type of pairing cited in the FAQ; PC-to-PS5 is outside that scope.
Can you transfer a Steam save to PS5?
There is no supported Steam-to-PS5 transfer documented for Blue Prince. A PC save file may exist locally or through the PC platform’s own storage systems, but that does not make it readable by the PS5 edition. The two versions are distributed through different platform environments, and Raw Fury’s FAQ specifically excludes cross-save outside the same ecosystem.

That means copying folders, renaming files, using a USB drive or signing into the same general account should not be treated as an official migration method. Console software also controls which save data an application can access. Without a developer-provided import process, those approaches cannot convert a PC save into a PS5 save.

Can you transfer a PS5 save to PC?
The answer is also no. A PS5 save created with the PlayStation edition is not documented as exportable to Steam or Windows. PlayStation backup features protect the console save within the PlayStation environment; they do not publish a PC-compatible copy.
If you switch from PS5 to PC, plan on beginning a separate progression path. If you later return to PS5, the console’s own save data remains the place to resume, provided it has not been deleted or overwritten.
What PS5 manual saves actually do
The official PlayStation Store listing confirms that the PS5 edition has manual save points. These points let you deliberately preserve progress and return to it on PS5. They answer a local reliability question—how to record and resume a run on that console—not a portability question.

A manual save is therefore not evidence of cross-save. It does not synchronize with a Steam or Windows installation, and it does not create a transferable file for another platform. Treat the PS5 save system as console-specific unless a later official announcement says otherwise.

The August 7, 2025 PS5 save patch
On August 7, 2025, the official Blue Prince account announced a PlayStation patch addressing PS5 save-file issues. The update added backup-save creation and restoration, improving the ability to recover a PS5 save when the console’s primary file encounters a problem.
That patch concerns save reliability on PS5. It does not announce PC-to-PS5 cross-save, PS5-to-PC transfer, or a shared save service. Backup and restoration should consequently be understood as recovery tools inside the PS5 version, not as a bridge to Steam or Windows.
What happens when you own both versions?
Starting on PC
Your Steam or Windows progress remains associated with that PC ecosystem. Installing the PS5 edition does not make the existing run appear automatically. You should expect the PS5 version to begin with its own save data.

Your PS5 progress remains in the PlayStation environment. Installing a PC copy does not provide an official way to load that run, so the PC version should be treated as a new start.

Alternating between platforms
You can play both versions, but you must track them as separate progress paths. Decide which device holds your primary run, and avoid assuming that an achievement, unlock or discovered route on one platform will be present on the other.

If continuing one run across devices is your priority, choose within the ecosystem combinations Raw Fury explicitly identifies. Steam and Steam Deck are the clearest example for a PC-based setup, while Windows and Xbox are the other pairing named in the FAQ.
Choose PS5 when you prefer console play and are comfortable keeping a PlayStation-only progression file. The PS5 edition has manual save points and, after the August 7, 2025 patch, backup-save creation and restoration. Those features improve day-to-day protection of the console file but do not change the platform boundary.

Storefront prices, subscription access and regional purchasing terms change over time. Check the current Steam, Windows/Xbox or PlayStation listing for your country before buying; those commercial details do not alter the cross-save limitation.
Practical steps before switching platforms
- Identify your current ecosystem. Record whether your existing copy is on Steam, Windows, Xbox or PS5. The answer determines which supported pairing, if any, applies.
- Read the current official FAQ and platform listing. Confirm that a later update has not changed the policy. The April 10, 2025 FAQ is the source of the stated same-ecosystem rule, while the PlayStation Store listing describes PS5 manual saves.
- Make a deliberate platform decision. If you need the same run on another device, remain within a pairing named by Raw Fury. If you move to PS5 from PC, budget time for a separate progression.
- Protect the PS5 file. Use the game’s manual save points and the backup-save creation and restoration features added in the August 7, 2025 PlayStation patch.
- Keep expectations separate. Do not delete the original platform’s save simply because the second installation is present. Until an official transfer feature exists, each platform is its own record.
Troubleshooting: a save is missing on PS5
You played on Steam or Windows
First verify that you launched the PC version where the original progress was created. If the save is present there but absent on PS5, that behavior is consistent with the documented platform separation, not necessarily a damaged file.
You played on PS5 previously
Check the PS5 edition’s available manual saves and use the backup-save restoration option introduced in the August 7, 2025 patch if the primary file is affected. These recovery steps apply to the PS5 environment; they will not expose a PC save.
You expected a shared account to synchronize progress
Account identity alone is not a cross-save guarantee. The developer’s FAQ limits the stated support to same-ecosystem examples, so a shared login cannot be used as evidence that PC and PS5 saves should match.

Cross-save support can be changed by a future game update, but no cited announcement adds PC-to-PS5 synchronization. The August 7, 2025 communication addressed PS5 save-file problems and backup recovery rather than cross-platform progression.
For an authoritative status check, look for a new Raw Fury FAQ entry, patch note or official Blue Prince announcement that explicitly names PlayStation and PC together. Until such a statement appears, the safe assumption is that PC and PS5 progress remain separate.
Bottom line for PC and PS5 owners
Blue Prince does not support cross-saves between PC and PS5. Steam-to-Steam Deck and Windows-to-Xbox are the same-ecosystem examples Raw Fury gives for cross-save. PS5 manual saves, plus the later backup-and-restoration update, help preserve and recover progress on PS5 only; they do not import a PC run or export a console run to PC.
