Yes. Progress earned during the October 15–19, 2026 Battlefield 6 free trial is stored on the EA Account used to play and carries into the full game after you purchase it. Career Rank, hardware unlocks and levels, customization items, and other account-based progression do not reset. The critical condition is using the same, correctly linked EA Account when you play the trial and launch or buy the full game.
What happens to your Battlefield 6 trial progress?
Battlefield 6 does not treat the free trial as a disposable guest session. EA says you need an EA Account to play because game progress is stored through that account. When you buy the full game, the account that played the trial supplies the progression that appears in the paid experience.

That means your rank and unlocks should remain where you left them rather than returning to a level-one profile. The main exception is an account mismatch: if the trial was played with a different EA Account from the one connected to the purchase or launch, the game can appear to have no progress. EA specifically tells players to use the correct linked account when moving from the trial to the full game.

Which items carry over?
EA’s trial guidance says that progress from REDSEC and the free trial carries into the full Battlefield 6 experience after purchase. The named categories are:
- Career Rank: the rank you earn during the trial remains associated with your account.
- Hardware unlocks and levels: weapon, vehicle, or other hardware progression that the account earns is retained.
- Customization items: earned customization content remains available on the same account.
- Other account-based progression: EA’s wording includes “etc.,” covering additional earned progression that is recorded by the account rather than by a temporary trial profile.
The official trial article states that players who already play REDSEC bring their Career Rank, Hardware Unlocks and Levels, customization items, and other progress into the free trial, and that “all that progress also carries over to the full Battlefield 6 experience upon purchase.” You can read the full explanation in EA’s Battlefield 6 Season 1 free-trial guide.
PlayStation’s Battlefield 6 page also describes rank, unlocks, and Battle Pass rewards carrying across supported platforms when the same EA Account is used. Platform support and the account link still matter; the retailer or device does not create a separate progression identity.

When and where was the free trial available?
The current promotion is a time-limited trial, not a permanent free version of the full game. EA lists it for PlayStation and Steam from October 15 through October 19, 2026. On Steam, EA’s announcement gives a precise cutoff of October 19 at 17:00 UTC.
| Platform | Trial availability | Published end information | Progress condition |
|---|---|---|---|
| PlayStation | October 15–19, 2026 | EA lists October 19, 2026 as the final trial date | Use the EA Account linked to the PlayStation account |
| Steam | October 15–19, 2026 | October 19, 2026 at 17:00 UTC | Use the EA Account linked to Steam |
The Steam cutoff comes from EA’s Steam free-trial announcement. Because the promotion has a hard end date, install files or a shortcut do not guarantee that full Battlefield 6 trial access will continue after the window closes.
Does the free trial include multiplayer?
Yes. EA describes the trial as full access to Battlefield 6 during the promotional window, including all game modes, events, and Battlefield Portal. The Steam announcement confirms that players can download the multiplayer files during the free period. You can therefore use the trial to play multiplayer and Portal before deciding whether to purchase.
Multiplayer access during the trial does not change the progression rule: the rank, unlocks, levels, and customization items earned online are recorded to the EA Account. Once the trial ends, the time-limited Battlefield 6 access ends even though some related content may remain available.

How to protect your progress before buying
Most carryover problems are account-selection problems. Complete these checks before you purchase or move to another platform.
- Check the account shown in the game. Open the account or profile area in Battlefield 6 and note the EA Account identity currently in use. Do not assume that the console or Steam login is the EA Account that owns the progression.
- Open EA Account settings. Sign in to your EA Account and open the Connections page. Confirm that the PlayStation Network or Steam account you are using appears as the linked platform account.
- Verify the email and account details. If you have more than one EA Account, compare the account shown in game with the one connected under Connections. A second account can be valid but still have an empty Battlefield 6 profile.
- Keep using that same EA Account. When you buy the full game, launch it through the platform account connected to the EA Account that holds the trial progress.
- Preserve continuity from earlier Battlefield activities. If you played the Battlefield 6 Beta or Road to Battlefield 6, EA advises using the same EA Account for continuity.
These checks do not require you to create a new profile. They are intended to ensure that the trial, purchase, and launch all resolve to one account record.
What to do when you buy the full game
Buying on the same platform
Use the same PlayStation or Steam account that was linked while you played the trial. After the purchase is recognized, launch Battlefield 6 with the same EA Account. Your existing Career Rank, hardware progression, customization items, and other earned content should load from that account rather than starting over.
Moving between Steam and PlayStation
Progression continuity depends on the EA Account, not merely on owning the game on two platforms. If you switch from Steam to PlayStation, or the other way around, link both platform identities to the same EA Account and sign in with that account. PlayStation’s Battlefield 6 information says rank, unlocks, and Battle Pass rewards carry across supported platforms when the same EA Account is used.

Do not create or select a second EA Account during the platform switch. A different account can make the game look as though your rank and unlocks disappeared, even though they remain attached to the original account.
What the account rule does not decide
The account rule explains progression continuity. It does not establish which purchase edition you should choose, the price in your region, retailer stock, or separate platform terms. Those are purchase and regional issues; they do not replace the requirement to use the EA Account that contains your trial progress.
What happens when the trial ends?
The free trial ends after the published promotion window. EA’s access guide says that REDSEC remains available to players who have it installed, but the full Battlefield 6 trial access ends. In practical terms, installing the trial before the deadline does not turn Battlefield 6 into an ongoing free copy.
Rank #3
- Battlefield 6 Standard Edition (disc) for XBOX Series X contains the full game
- All-out war, fast-paced close-quarters combat, tactical destruction - Welcome to the definitive Battlefield experience
- THE NEW STANDARD OF FPS COMBAT: With overhauled gunplay and tactical movement, from crouch sprint to drag and revive, every shot and movement is more instinctual and precise
- MORE WAYS TO BATTLE: Victory, however you envision it; Seize glory in iconic, large-scale modes including Conquest, Breakthrough, and Rush; Fight in iconic locations all over the world including Cairo, Brooklyn, Gibraltar and more
- ICONIC ALL-OUT WARFARE: Wage all-out war with infantry and vehicle combat, class-based squad play, and cutting edge audiovisual immersion; Where fighter jets, tanks, skydiving RPGS, heavy artillery, and high-intensity infantry combat become one
If you purchase the full game after playing the trial, the account-based progress is intended to continue into that full experience. If you do not purchase it, you can still encounter the separate availability rules for REDSEC, while the trial’s full Battlefield 6 access is no longer active.

Why your rank or unlocks may appear to be missing
You launched with a different EA Account
This is the first thing to check. EA identifies the EA Account as the place where Battlefield 6 progress is stored. Sign out only after noting which account owns the progression, then verify the Connections page and relaunch through the matching Steam or PlayStation account.
The platform account is linked elsewhere
A Steam or PlayStation identity can be connected to an EA Account you did not intend to use. Check EA Account settings → Connections and confirm the platform account shown there. If it is not the account used during the trial, the paid game will not automatically display the trial profile.
You changed platforms without matching the account
Buying or launching on a second platform does not by itself merge profiles. The same EA Account must be used on both supported platforms for the cross-platform progression described by PlayStation.
You are checking after the promotion closed
After October 19, full Battlefield 6 trial access is over. REDSEC availability after the deadline should not be mistaken for continued access to every Battlefield 6 mode. If you own the full game, launch that product with the account that played the trial.
You expected progress from a different profile
Progress earned on another person’s EA Account, a separate console user, or a different Steam identity is not transferred simply because the same device is being used. Return to the account that actually earned the rank and unlocks.
A practical Steam-to-PlayStation checklist
Use this sequence if you started the trial on Steam and intend to continue on PlayStation:
- Before leaving Steam, record the EA Account identity shown in Battlefield 6.
- In EA Account settings, open Connections and verify the Steam link.
- On PlayStation, sign in with the PlayStation Network account you intend to use.
- When prompted, sign in to the same EA Account that held the Steam trial progression.
- Confirm that the account connection is correct before beginning a new profile or unlinking anything.
- Launch the full game and check Career Rank, hardware levels, customization items, and other earned progression.
The same principle works in reverse when moving from PlayStation to Steam. Account identity is the controlling variable; the order of the platforms is not.
