Does Absolum support touchscreen remapping and external controllers?

Short answer: Absolum supports touch play on mobile, and the iOS/iPadOS listing explicitly says it works with MFi controllers. The published documentation does not confirm a feature for moving, resizing, or remapping the on-screen buttons. On PC, Steam lists full controller support for Xbox and PlayStation controllers and recommends playing with a controller. Android controller support and mobile button remapping are not confirmed in the published information available.

Absolum controller and remapping support at a glance

The answer depends on which edition you intend to play. The PC version has the clearest gamepad support. The iPhone and iPad edition is designed around touch and explicitly supports Apple-compatible MFi controllers. The Android release is announced, but its controller behavior is not described in the available documentation. No mobile edition has a documented in-game editor for repositioning or resizing touch controls.

Platform Touch controls External controller evidence Touchscreen remapping Availability or timing
iOS/iPadOS The App Store listing describes a “revamped interface” with “complete touch control.” “Compatible with MFi controllers.” Not documented iOS pre-order is available; Playdigious announced mobile launch for November 5, 2026.
Android Absolum is presented as a mobile, touch-first release, but the published material does not provide a separate Android control-layout specification. Not stated in the published Android information. Not documented Android preregistration is available; launch announced for November 5, 2026.
PC/Steam Keyboard and mouse play are available; touchscreen remapping is not relevant to this edition. Steam lists “Full Controller Support,” names Xbox and PlayStation controllers, and says the developers recommend a controller. No touchscreen editor applies to the PC version. PC edition is distributed through Steam.

What “complete touch control” means on iPhone and iPad

Touch is the primary mobile input

The iOS App Store description uses the phrase “complete touch control” for Absolum’s mobile interface. That indicates the game is intended to be playable directly on the display rather than requiring a physical gamepad. The listing also calls the interface a “revamped interface” with an exclusive mobile UI, so the mobile presentation is not simply a desktop control scheme squeezed onto a smaller screen.

That wording confirms touch play, but it does not promise that every player can customize the layout. A touch-enabled game can have fixed buttons, a few sensitivity choices, or a full layout editor; the listing identifies the first requirement—complete touch control—but does not specify which customization tools are included.

MFi controllers are explicitly supported

The same App Store listing says Absolum is “Compatible with MFi controllers.” MFi means a controller approved for Apple platforms, so an MFi-compatible gamepad is the most directly documented way to replace touch input on an iPhone or iPad. This is stronger evidence than a generic claim that a game works with Bluetooth accessories: it identifies Apple’s controller-compatibility program in the product listing itself.

If you dislike covering virtual buttons with your fingers, plan around an MFi-compatible game controller for iPhone or iPad. Choose a model that your device and iOS version recognize as an Apple-compatible gamepad; the available Absolum information does not endorse a particular manufacturer or model, nor does it state whether every wired or wireless controller works.

What to expect when pairing a controller

Absolum’s listing confirms compatibility, but it does not publish an Absolum-specific pairing procedure. In normal iOS use, you pair a supported controller with the device first, then launch the game. If the gamepad is connected but the game still shows touch prompts, check that the controller is listed as connected in iOS Bluetooth settings, close and relaunch the game, and verify that the controller is compatible with Apple’s MFi requirements. Those are general device-level checks, not a guarantee of a particular controller’s behavior in Absolum.

Controller support also does not imply that the touch buttons disappear, can be hidden, or can be moved. A game may continue to display a touch overlay while accepting physical input. The published Absolum documentation does not say which of those presentation choices it makes.

Can you move or resize Absolum’s on-screen buttons?

No official remapping setting is confirmed

No reviewed Absolum store page or Help Center article documents a control-layout editor, movable buttons, resizable buttons, or a touchscreen remapping menu. The careful conclusion is therefore unconfirmed, not a definitive “no.” The absence of a documented option means you should not buy the mobile edition assuming that you can place the attack, dodge, or movement controls wherever you want.

This distinction matters because “complete touch control” describes whether the game can be played by touch, not whether its virtual controls are customizable. Unless a later update or an in-game menu explicitly adds that function, treat the mobile layout as an interface whose customization level has not been established.

Remapping and controller support solve different problems

  • Touch support: the screen itself provides the controls.
  • Touch remapping: the player changes the position, size, or assignment of those virtual controls.
  • External-controller support: a physical gamepad sends inputs instead of, or alongside, touch.

Absolum’s iOS listing confirms the first and third items. It does not confirm the second. A controller can therefore be the practical workaround for an awkward fixed touch layout, but it is not evidence that the layout itself can be edited.

What is known about Android controllers?

Android launch and requirements

Playdigious states that Absolum will be available on mobile on November 5, 2026. Android preregistration is available, while the iOS edition has a pre-order listing. The Android release requires Android 9 or later and more than 3 GB of RAM. The Playdigious Help Center also identifies certain Android GPUs as excluded, although the material available here does not provide the GPU model list; check that Help Center compatibility information for a specific phone before launch.

  • What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.

These requirements describe whether a device is eligible to run the mobile edition. They do not establish controller support. Android-native gamepad behavior, supported controller standards, button prompts, and any remapping menu are not stated in the published information.

What Android users should and should not assume

  • Do assume that the mobile edition is designed for touch interaction.
  • Do not assume that an Android Bluetooth controller will work merely because an iOS listing names MFi controllers.
  • Do not assume that an Android device meeting the RAM and Android-version requirements will support every gamepad.
  • Do not assume that the Android touch layout can be moved or resized.

If a physical controller is essential to your purchase decision, wait for Android-specific compatibility details or test the game with your intended device and controller after the mobile release. The current public information does not identify an Android controller standard for Absolum.

PC and Steam controller support

Steam lists full controller support

Steam marks Absolum as having “Full Controller Support.” Its store metadata specifically identifies Xbox Controllers and PlayStation Controllers, and says that the developers recommend playing the game with a controller. This is the clearest gamepad statement among the three platforms.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

On PC, you can choose between keyboard and mouse or a supported gamepad. Because the PC edition is not using a touchscreen interface, the question of moving virtual touch buttons does not apply. Steam’s controller label also does not tell you that every third-party pad, unusual input device, or custom button arrangement is supported; it identifies the supported controller categories named by the store.

When the PC version is the better fit

Choose the PC edition if a physical controller is central to how you play and you want an explicitly documented Xbox or PlayStation option. It avoids the uncertainty around Android gamepads and the unconfirmed status of mobile touch-layout editing. If portability is more important, the iOS edition has the clearest mobile controller statement through MFi compatibility.

Mobile device requirements and timing

Requirement Published detail What it tells you
Android version Android 9 or later Older Android releases fall outside the stated requirement.
Android memory More than 3 GB of RAM A phone with exactly 3 GB does not meet the wording “more than 3 GB.”
Android graphics Some GPUs are excluded by the Playdigious Help Center Check the Help Center’s GPU list for your exact device; no complete model list is stated here.
iOS version iOS 16 or later Devices unable to run iOS 16 are outside the stated requirement.
iOS processor A12 chip or newer The iPhone or iPad must use an A12-generation or newer chip.
Mobile launch November 5, 2026 Playdigious announced this date for the mobile edition; the date is not a statement that every region or device has identical store availability.

Meeting a platform requirement does not answer the controller question. It only establishes that the device is within the published operating-system, memory, processor, and graphics boundaries. Controller recognition remains a separate compatibility issue.

How to choose your input setup

Choose touch-only mobile play when

  • You are comfortable with a fixed or unknown virtual-button layout.
  • You have an iPhone or iPad meeting iOS 16 and A12-or-newer requirements.
  • You want to play without carrying a separate accessory.

Choose an MFi gamepad for iPhone or iPad when

  • You prefer physical buttons, sticks, and triggers to a touch overlay.
  • You want the mobile option with an explicit controller-compatibility statement.
  • You are willing to use an Apple-compatible controller rather than relying on an unspecified Android gamepad.

Choose PC when

  • You want Steam’s explicit “Full Controller Support” label.
  • You use an Xbox or PlayStation controller.
  • You would rather avoid uncertainty about mobile touch remapping and Android controller support.

Common misunderstandings and troubleshooting

“Complete touch control” does not mean “customizable touch controls”

The phrase confirms that touch is a complete input method for the mobile game. It does not say that buttons can be dragged, resized, made transparent, or reassigned. Look for an explicit control-layout option in the released game before treating remapping as available.

iOS MFi support does not prove Android support

Apple’s MFi statement applies to the iOS/iPadOS listing. Android uses its own device and controller ecosystem, and no Android controller behavior is documented here. Do not transfer the iOS claim to Android without an Android-specific statement.

A compatible device is not automatically a compatible controller setup

An iPad that meets the chip and operating-system requirement, or an Android phone that meets the RAM and Android-version requirement, may still require a supported controller standard and correct device pairing. Device eligibility and input-device support are separate checks.

What to do if touch feels uncomfortable

On iOS or iPadOS, the documented alternative is an MFi-compatible controller. On PC, use an Xbox or PlayStation controller covered by Steam’s full-support listing. For Android, the safest answer is to wait for platform-specific confirmation rather than purchase an accessory based only on the iOS description.

Bottom line

Absolum is built to be playable with touch on mobile. iPhone and iPad players have the strongest documented mobile gamepad option because the App Store listing explicitly supports MFi controllers. No official page reviewed confirms that mobile buttons can be moved, resized, or remapped, so treat touchscreen remapping as unconfirmed. Android’s release and device requirements are published, but Android controller support is not. On Steam, controller support is explicit: Xbox and PlayStation controllers are listed, and the developers recommend using a controller.
