Some Gigabyte AORUS ELITE motherboards support RGB lighting, but the family name alone does not tell you whether a particular board has visible onboard lighting or which lighting strips it can connect. Check the complete model and hardware revision: specifications may list standard RGB headers, addressable RGB headers, or both. Those headers support external strips; they do not by themselves establish that the motherboard has lights built in.
What “RGB support” means on an AORUS ELITE board
There are two different things people may mean by RGB: lighting built into the motherboard, and headers that let you connect optional lighting strips. A specification listing RGB or addressable LED headers confirms connections for compatible accessories. It is not proof of visible illumination on the board itself.

For example, Gigabyte lists two addressable LED headers and two RGB LED headers for the Z790 AORUS ELITE rev. 1.1, along with RGB Fusion 2.0. That establishes strip connections and software support for that model, not built-in board lighting.

Standard RGB and addressable RGB are not interchangeable
Standard RGB and addressable RGB use different header types. Do not choose a strip based only on the word “RGB” in its product name: match its connector to the corresponding header shown in the manual for your exact motherboard revision. Header count and location also vary, so use the board diagram rather than assuming a connector is in the same place across models.
Gigabyte’s B650 AORUS ELITE AX manual gives a model-specific example for its standard RGB header: a 5050 strip with a 12V/G/R/B pinout, maximum power of 2A at 12V, and maximum length of 2m. Those limits are not universal AORUS ELITE specifications.

Connect a strip safely
- Identify the exact board and revision. Check the model name printed on the board or its packaging, then find the matching official specification and manual.
- Match the strip to the header. Confirm whether the board header is standard RGB or addressable RGB and follow the manual’s connector and voltage instructions.
- Check the strip’s limits against the manual. Use only the power and length limits stated for your model; do not apply another AORUS ELITE board’s limits.
- Align the connector before powering on. For the B650 AORUS ELITE AX standard RGB example, Gigabyte instructs users to align the strip’s marked 12V pin with header pin 1 and warns, “Incorrect connection may lead to the damage of the LED strip.” Follow the equivalent instructions in your own board’s manual.
Control lighting in software
Gigabyte’s Intel 700-series feature manual describes using RGB Fusion to control supported onboard LEDs and RGB or addressable strips in Windows. Availability and supported devices can depend on the motherboard model and application support. The Intel 700-series feature manual describes the software feature; check your board’s support page for the relevant model-specific information.

How to confirm your board’s RGB capabilities
- Use the full product name, including any suffix such as AX or WIFI7.
- Confirm the hardware revision; specifications can differ between revisions of a similarly named board.
- Look for separate entries for onboard lighting, RGB headers, addressable LED headers, and lighting software.
- Use the matching manual to verify connector type, pinout, voltage, power, strip length, and header location before buying or connecting a strip.
