How Premium revenue works on a livestream
YouTube Premium revenue comes from membership fees and is allocated based on members’ viewing, rather than depending on an ad being served. YouTube identifies Watch Page playback as including long-form videos and live-streaming videos. The platform also lists Premium revenue among the monetization options available to creators in the YouTube Partner Program who stream live. - Be accepted into the YouTube Partner Program. Premium revenue is part of Watch Page monetization for eligible creators; merely running a livestream does not make a channel eligible.
- Accept the Watch Page Monetization Module. YouTube’s monetization guidance identifies this module as a requirement for Watch Page earnings on long-form and live-streaming content.
- Turn on Watch Page ads as directed in YouTube’s Premium guidance. YouTube’s Premium help page says long-form creators need to accept the module and turn on Watch Page ads to earn Premium revenue. See YouTube’s requirements and explanation.
These are general Watch Page rules. The cited guidance does not describe a distinct eligibility pathway or calculation just for continuous streams.

Premium revenue is not the same as livestream ad revenue
A Premium member’s eligible viewing can contribute to Premium revenue without relying on an ad impression. Advertising is separate: YouTube says live-stream ad slots are not guaranteed to serve ads. A stream may therefore have Premium viewing even when a particular ad slot does not fill; conversely, the existence of a 24/7 stream does not guarantee either a certain number of ads or a certain income. YouTube reported an average “over 20% uplift in instream ad revenue per hour” for creators who enabled live automatic mid-roll ads compared with channels that had not enabled them, averaged across 207 countries in January 2024. What YouTube does not publish for 24/7 streams
The cited YouTube help pages explain the general Watch Page and Premium rules, but do not set out a special 24/7-stream formula, a fixed Premium payment per view, or an earnings guarantee. They also do not explain whether every continuous-stream setup, interruption pattern, or archived replay receives distinct treatment. It is safest to apply the general live-stream eligibility guidance without assuming a particular rate or outcome.

For that reason, you cannot calculate reliable Premium income simply by multiplying the stream’s views or hours by a public per-view figure: YouTube does not provide such a figure in this guidance, and its stated basis is how much Premium members watch.
