A YouTube livestream replay can earn ad revenue after the broadcast ends if the replay exists, your channel is eligible for Watch Page monetization, monetization is enabled, and the video meets YouTube’s policies. Ads may be enabled during the stream or added after the replay is published—but turning monetization on does not guarantee that ads will run or that the replay will earn a specific amount.
What has to be true for a replay to earn revenue?
A replay is a video on your channel, so its potential revenue depends on the replay remaining available and meeting YouTube’s requirements for Watch Page monetization.

- The replay exists and viewers can access it. If the archive was not captured, was deleted, or is private, it cannot earn from viewers who cannot access it.
- Your channel qualifies for the relevant monetization features. For ad and YouTube Premium revenue from long-form or live-streaming videos on the Watch Page, YouTube requires creators to accept the Watch Page Monetization Module and meet the applicable eligibility requirements. See YouTube’s monetization features and eligibility guidance.
- Monetization is enabled for the replay. You can choose to enable ads while streaming or add them after the stream has been published. YouTube says monetization can be changed during a video’s lifetime; see its guidance on how ads work on live streams.
- The content is eligible under YouTube’s policies. Advertiser suitability, age restrictions, and other policy or ad-system decisions can limit or prevent monetization.
Can you turn ads on after the livestream ends?
Yes. If the stream has been published as a replay, you can enable monetization afterward, provided your channel and video are eligible. YouTube’s guidance says ads can be included from the time you stream or added after publication. Enabling ads is not a promise that YouTube will serve an ad: YouTube explicitly notes, “Choosing to turn on ads doesn’t mean that ads will automatically open on a video.” See YouTube’s instructions for choosing how to monetize videos.

How to check a published livestream replay
- Confirm the archive exists. Open your channel and make sure the replay is published and accessible. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived; streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. The 12-hour figure concerns archiving, not monetization eligibility. See YouTube’s live-stream archiving guidance.
- Check channel eligibility. In YouTube Studio, review your channel’s monetization status and confirm that you have accepted the Watch Page Monetization Module if you want Watch Page ad and YouTube Premium revenue.
- Check the replay’s monetization setting and policy status. In YouTube Studio, open the replay’s video details and review its monetization and any policy or restriction notices. YouTube may review content, and advertiser suitability or age restrictions can affect whether ads serve.
- Review actual results in Analytics. YouTube says live-stream and live-replay ad revenue can be reviewed in YouTube Analytics with the Live filter. Use the reported results rather than assuming that enabled monetization produced views or earnings. See YouTube’s revenue analytics guidance.
What can prevent revenue even when ads are enabled?
- No replay: the stream was not archived, or the archive was deleted.
- Limited access: the replay’s privacy setting prevents the intended audience from viewing it.
- Channel or module requirements are unmet: being able to switch a setting does not establish eligibility for Watch Page monetization.
- Policy or advertiser suitability issues: a review, age restriction, or advertiser decision may limit monetization.
- No ad is served: monetization being enabled does not mean every viewer—or any particular viewer—will see an ad.
Does a replay earn a fixed amount per view?
No fixed earnings rate follows from the fact that a replay is monetized or that live-replay revenue appears in Analytics. Actual results depend on whether ads or other eligible Watch Page revenue are generated, and YouTube does not guarantee a specific amount. Check Analytics for realized revenue; do not estimate a payout from the monetization switch alone.

If you want a YouTube channel to keep playing uploaded videos as a 24/7 stream, StreamNeo is a separate way to run the broadcast; it does not change YouTube’s monetization eligibility or guarantee replay ad revenue. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo loops the uploaded video from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. Each slot streams the video as uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; it can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card.
