Managers who only need standard tools
Routine squad selection, tactical changes and ordinary transfer work belong to the base game. If those are the only changes you expect to make, an editor is unlikely to provide enough additional value to justify an optional purchase.

How the FM27 launch timing affects your decision

Sports Interactive has not stated the FM27 In-Game Editor price in the available official material. It has also not confirmed the exact sales platforms, whether one purchase covers multiple platforms, or how the editor purchase relates to the base game.
Do not use an older Football Manager editor price as a forecast. Prices can change between versions, regions, storefronts and editions. Wait for the FM27 store listing, then check whether the displayed amount is a one-time purchase, a regional price, a bundle component or a platform-specific product.

Sports Interactive states: “The gameplay shown is from a development build of the game, meaning it is subject to change before release.” That warning applies to pre-release feature material, including screenshots and demonstrations. Consider the editor if correcting that situation is more appealing than restarting. Wait for the official field list to confirm the relevant value can be changed and for the price to be published.
You want to run a heavily customised alternate football universe
The editor is a plausible fit, because customisation is one of its stated purposes. The purchase becomes easier to justify if the final documentation confirms the player, club and competition controls your concept requires.
You are starting your first FM27 career
Skip the editor initially. Learn the standard systems and decide later whether a specific limitation or scenario justifies buying an optional tool.
You play mainly online
Wait for explicit multiplayer rules. The launch platform announcement does not establish network-career compatibility, and an assumption could leave you with a purchase that does not work in your preferred mode.
