Usually not wirelessly. Sony’s INZONE support information lists smartphones, PCs and PS5 as supported devices, not Xbox. Sony says Bluetooth and the INZONE USB transceiver cannot make a wireless Xbox connection. A compatible 3.5 mm cable may deliver some audio or microphone functions through an Xbox controller, but Sony does not guarantee that connection, including party chat or headset controls. The exact model and connection method determine what you can expect.
The short answer: Xbox wireless support is not provided
If you want to plug an INZONE USB dongle into an Xbox and start playing wirelessly, plan on it not working. Sony’s INZONE FAQ states that the headsets are designed for smartphone, PC and PS5 use. For Xbox devices covered by that FAQ, it says a wireless connection through Bluetooth or the USB transceiver is not possible.

The INZONE H9 II has an even more explicit warning: Sony says its supplied 2.4 GHz dongle does not work with Xbox consoles. This is a console compatibility limitation, not a matter of pairing order, USB-port selection or a missing firmware update.
A cable is a different case. If your INZONE model has an analog 3.5 mm connection and your Xbox controller has a compatible headset jack, you can try a wired connection. Sony describes that route as potentially enabling some functions, but it does not certify dependable Xbox support. Game audio, microphone input, party chat, volume controls and other headset features must be tested separately.

How each connection method behaves on Xbox
USB transceiver or 2.4 GHz wireless
INZONE wireless models use a USB transceiver for their low-latency 2.4 GHz connection. Xbox consoles do not support that INZONE wireless path according to Sony’s compatibility guidance. Connecting the transceiver to the console therefore should not be treated as an Xbox workaround.
For the H9 II, Sony’s product information specifically says the 2.4 GHz dongle does not work with Xbox consoles. The dongle can still be used with compatible USB-C devices as described by Sony, but that statement does not establish compatibility with an Xbox USB port.
Bluetooth
Bluetooth is not an alternative wireless route for the Xbox devices covered by Sony’s INZONE FAQ. Sony states that a wireless connection through Bluetooth is not possible in that Xbox context. Even if a particular INZONE model supports Bluetooth profiles for phones or other devices, that capability should not be interpreted as Xbox console support.

3.5 mm analog cable
The analog connection is the only practical route identified by Sony for trying an INZONE headset with Xbox. Sony’s FAQ uses a qualified statement: “While certain features (e.g. audio, microphone) may work if you connect using a 3.5mm jack, we cannot guarantee support for Xbox devices.”

That wording matters. It means a cable may produce sound, and it may allow microphone input, but Sony has not promised that every INZONE model will provide both functions. It also does not promise party-chat operation, inline controls, sidetone, mute behavior or volume adjustment.
Model-by-model Xbox guidance
INZONE model names can look interchangeable even though their transceivers and wired options differ. Use the specific model’s documentation rather than assuming that a result for one headset applies to the whole line.
| Model | What Sony’s information establishes | Xbox expectation |
|---|---|---|
| INZONE H9 II | The supplied 2.4 GHz dongle does not work with Xbox consoles. Sony describes USB-C-transceiver use with compatible USB-C devices and Bluetooth for devices with the required profiles. | No wireless Xbox connection through the dongle or Bluetooth. Sony’s H9 II information lists a wired connection for mobile devices but does not explicitly certify Xbox use or chat through that connection. |
| INZONE H9 | Covered by Sony’s INZONE FAQ, which lists smartphone, PC and PS5 as designed-for devices. | Bluetooth and USB-transceiver wireless are not possible for Xbox under the FAQ. Some 3.5 mm functions may work, without a guarantee. |
| INZONE H7 | Covered by the same FAQ and its supported-device scope. | No guaranteed Xbox wireless support. A 3.5 mm attempt may provide some functions, but microphone and chat are not assured. |
| INZONE H5 | Covered by the same FAQ. | Do not expect Bluetooth or USB-transceiver operation on Xbox. Treat analog operation as a test-only possibility. |
| INZONE H3 | Covered by the same FAQ. | Wireless Xbox support is not available through the stated methods. Wired behavior depends on the controller, cable and headset implementation. |
| INZONE H6 Air | Sony describes it as a wired-only headset with a 3.5 mm analog cable and a supplied USB-C Audio Box for PC and PS5. | A controller with a compatible 3.5 mm headset output provides a plausible wired path. Sony’s cited product information does not name Xbox or guarantee microphone and party-chat operation. |
| INZONE E9 | Included in Sony’s current U.S. INZONE support listing; the cited compatibility material does not provide model-specific Xbox behavior. | Do not infer Xbox support from the lineup listing. Check the model’s own connection documentation. |
Sony’s current U.S. support listing includes H9 II, H9, H7, H6 Air, H5, H3 and E9. That list establishes the lineup scope, not a blanket Xbox certification.

How to try a wired connection
A wired test can tell you whether your particular headset, controller and Xbox setup provide usable sound and chat. Follow these steps without assuming that one successful function proves the others will work.

- Identify the exact headset. Read the model name on the earcup, packaging or headset settings. H9 II, H9, H7, H6 Air, H5 and H3 do not have identical connection hardware.
- Confirm the physical path. The headset must expose a 3.5 mm analog connection, and the controller must have a compatible headset jack. Do not substitute the wireless USB transceiver for this test.
- Connect the cable directly. Insert the headset’s 3.5 mm plug fully into the controller’s headset port. If the model uses a detachable cable, use the cable intended for analog audio; a USB charging lead will not create an analog connection.
- Check game audio first. Start a game or system sound and adjust the Xbox headset-volume controls. If there is no audio, reseat the plug and verify that the headset is not muted by a physical switch.
- Test the microphone independently. Join a private party or use another safe voice test, then speak while watching the console’s microphone indicator or asking a participant whether your voice is heard. Audio output working does not prove microphone input works.
- Test party chat and controls. Check chat balance, mute, volume buttons and any sidetone feature separately. A headset can pass stereo game audio while lacking one or more of these functions.
- Record the result by function. Note “works,” “does not work” or “not tested” for game audio, microphone, party chat and controls. That prevents a vague conclusion such as “compatible” based only on hearing game sound.
If the controller has no compatible headset jack, the cited Sony guidance does not provide a guaranteed alternative. USB-transceiver and Bluetooth connections remain unsupported for the Xbox devices covered by the FAQ.
What you should not expect to transfer from PC or PS5
INZONE Hub settings
INZONE Hub is associated with PC configuration in Sony’s support material. PC or PS5 support does not establish that equalizer profiles, firmware controls, spatial-audio settings or other Hub-managed features will operate through an Xbox connection. Do not buy an INZONE model on the assumption that its PC software will extend to the console.
Console-specific features
Features documented for PS5 should not be treated as Xbox features. The available compatibility statements identify supported platforms but do not certify Xbox operation for headset controls, microphone processing, chat mixing or other model-specific functions.

Troubleshooting a failed wired test
No game audio
- Unplug and firmly reconnect the 3.5 mm plug at both ends if the cable is detachable.
- Confirm that the controller, rather than the console’s USB port, is the audio connection being tested.
- Try the controller’s headset-volume controls and check the headset’s physical mute or volume switch.
- Test the controller with another known-good analog headset. If that also fails, the controller or jack may be the cause rather than the INZONE headset.
Game audio works but the microphone does not
This outcome is consistent with Sony’s warning that only certain functions may work over 3.5 mm. Check that the plug and cable carry a headset microphone connection, that the boom or inline microphone is unmuted, and that the Xbox party screen is using the controller headset input. If another analog headset records voice normally, the INZONE model’s microphone wiring or Xbox compatibility may be the limiting factor.
Microphone works but party chat is unreliable
Separate game audio, chat balance and microphone tests. Intermittent chat can result from an incomplete plug connection, a damaged cable or a model-specific limitation. Sony does not guarantee party-chat behavior for Xbox, so a successful repair is not assured by changing wireless settings.
The USB dongle is detected but there is no sound
Detection does not equal compatibility. For H9 II, Sony explicitly says the 2.4 GHz dongle does not work with Xbox consoles; for the other models covered by the FAQ, Sony says USB-transceiver wireless is not possible. Return to the analog test only if the headset and controller support it.

Should you use an INZONE headset with Xbox?
It can make sense if you already own one
If an INZONE headset is already in your collection and your controller has a compatible 3.5 mm port, a wired trial costs nothing beyond the cable you already have. Keep expectations narrow: verify the four functions you need—game audio, microphone, party chat and controls—rather than relying on the headset’s PC or PS5 feature list.

It is a poor choice if you need guaranteed wireless play
Do not choose an INZONE model for Xbox on the expectation that its USB dongle or Bluetooth will provide wireless audio. Sony’s published guidance rules out those methods, and the H9 II dongle is specifically stated not to work with Xbox consoles.
The H6 Air is only a wired possibility
The H6 Air is the INZONE model most directly aligned with a 3.5 mm experiment because Sony describes it as wired-only and supplies an analog cable. However, Sony’s cited product page does not name Xbox or promise chat compatibility. Treat it as a headset that may work through a compatible controller, not as an Xbox-certified product.
Bottom line
Sony INZONE headsets are not generally Xbox wireless headsets. Bluetooth and the INZONE USB transceiver are not supported connection methods for the Xbox devices covered by Sony’s FAQ, and the H9 II’s 2.4 GHz dongle is expressly incompatible with Xbox consoles. A 3.5 mm controller connection may provide some audio or microphone functions, but Sony does not guarantee Xbox support. Identify the exact model, test game audio and microphone separately, and only rely on the setup if the functions you need actually work.
